Rookie quarterback Nick Foles finally got his chance with the Eagles Sunday when a woozy Michael Vick could not continue.
It was the second quarter of a 38-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field, another low note in what could amount to coach Andy Reid's farewell season ini Philadelphia.
But for the franchise's future, 5:23 p.m. was the moment when Foles first took a regular-season snap. Vick left with a concussion. Foles could not save the game. He helped the Eagles to a 17-10 third-quarter lead before the team unraveled in the fourth quarter, allowing two defensive touchdowns and a special teams touchdown.
"Not good enough to win," Foles said after completing 22 of 32 passes for 219 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
The Eagles' fifth consecutive loss dropped them to 3-6. It's the first time Reid has lost five straight games in his 14 years in Philadelphia, a fact that obscures the players' continued support for their coach.
