Offensive Game Ball: Tony Romohttp://www.dallascowboys.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/roster/tony-romo/172ae69b-87c1-49f5-a2e6-5ed85b6d5dfc/)
When head coach Jason Garrett and this offense needed him the most, Romo was at his best. This is one of those games where Romo was more about beating Philadelphia with his head than just with his skills. His ability to read what the Eagles were doing coverage-wise was the reason for the Cowboys’ success in the second half. The throw to Miles Austinhttp://www.dallascowboys.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/roster/miles-austin/766f07f9-aa05-4b55-add0-eed1e7e84dd9/) was all about Romo’s skill, but the throw to Dez Bryanthttp://www.dallascowboys.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/roster/dez-bryant/e61ca891-9bbe-4449-98b1-d7837f6e4874/) was his ability to read the coverage and Bryant doing a much better job of keeping his route wide to give Romo the opportunity to fit the ball in there for the go-ahead touchdown. It was a throw that they missed last week against the Falcons, but were able to connect with in this game at a key time.
Defensive Game Ball: Anthony Spencerhttp://www.dallascowboys.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/roster/anthony-spencer/4420ec7e-af33-49d2-8901-31f50f6389da/)
For weeks I have questioned when Spencer would make a sack that would kill a game for this defense. There were times when I felt like he was clearly better than the offensive tackles he was going against, but he seemed to come up short in the way he played. This week, it was a different story and he was able to deliver. Spencer was dominant, and like Romo, when this team needed him the most, he was able to beat his man, knocking the ball out of Nick Foles’ hands and creating a much-needed turnover and points as well. Spencer was a factor the entire game and the more the Eagles focused on him, the better he played. For that, he gets my game ball.
