That is the plan, yes'sir. They have Bennett and Calico at WR - and that won't get it done. They think they have a shot still with McNair (they don't) and want to give him better weapons.

If they don't go Williams, it tells me that they are building for the future and will likely move to give Volek more reps this year.

Overview: Jones is a big-play cornerback who also excelled as one of college football's premier return specialists. He is considered by many to be the finest defensive player produced at West Virginia in the last decade. In two seasons as a starter at the demanding "Bandit" cornerback position, he allowed only one touchdown catch, and that was the result of losing site of the ball in a glaring sun. Raised by his grandmother as a child in the ghetto of College Park, Georgia, it was his mentor at Atlanta's Westlake High School, Libby Sobleski, that Adam credits for turning his life around and help him become the first person in his family to attend college. Jones totaled 120 tackles, six interceptions and 1,850 yards rushing as a senior. He was named Conference Player of the Year and was chosen to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Class 4A All-State team. He played in the prestigious Georgia-Florida all-star game at the conclusion of his final year. Jones also earned All-American honors as a guard on the school's basketball team. Jones was a member of the Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll during his time at West Virginia. He appeared in 11 games as a reserve defensive back in 2002, seeing action at both "bandit" cornerback and "spur" safety. Jones collected 36 tackles (22 solos) with a forced fumble and a pass deflection. Adam took over return duties as a sophomore and moved into the starting lineup at "bandit" cornerback after the third game of the 2003 campaign. He was a second-team All-Big East Conference selection, as he recorded 89 tackles (63 solos), six stops for losses, two fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, fourteen pass deflections and four interceptions for 91 yards in returns and a touchdown. Jones also gained 867 yards with a score on 33 kickoff returns (26.3 avg) and 98 yards on 16 punt returns (6.1 avg). Coming off a productive sophomore campaign, Jones was firmly entrenched as the leader of the Mountaineers' secondary. He led the team with 76 tackles (54 solos), adding two sacks and three stops behind the line of scrimmage. Jones deflected seven passes and had three interceptions. He also returned 28 kickoffs for 608 yards (23.4 avg) and 21 punts for 306 yards (14.6 avg) and a touchdown. Jones also saw some time on offense, carrying twice for 31 yards and had a 51-yard touchdown run nullified by a penalty. He closed out his three-year career with 22 starts in 36 games, producing 201 tackles (139 solos) with two sacks for minus-14 yards, nine stops for losses of 23 yards, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. He deflected 22 passes and had eight interceptions for 156 yards in returns and a touchdown. His 22 pass break-ups rank eighth on the school's career-record list. On special teams, Jones returned 59 kickoffs for 1475 yards (25.0 average) and a touchdown. Only Shawn Terry (1747, 1999-2001) gained more yards on kickoff returns in school history. Adam's 25.1-yard average ranks fifth on the school's all-time record list. He also gained 404 yards on 37 punt returns (10.9 average) and a touchdown.

Analysis: Positives... Has outstanding change of direction agility and speed... Can jump with good timing and above average hand/eye coordination... Likes and accepts challenges and seems to rise to the occasion when playing against elite competition... Studies film and is always looking for ways to improve... Has good vision to diagnose plays and very quick reactions when defending his responsibility... Reads the quarterback and receiver well, as he can transition on time and shows a good burst to make the play on the ball...His transition skills and ball awareness along with his speed allow him to make up ground quickly... Has very good lift and lots of courage going vertical for the ball in a crowd... Good at avoiding blockers in attempts to find the ballcarrier... Will strike without fear and is generally a good wrap-up tackler when he plays in control... Shows good discipline to go with quick movement skills and sticks tight to the receiver in man coverage... Shows sudden hip turn and acceleration in transition... Has sort of a rapid-fire set of feet and good balance through his backpedal... Aggressive in run support, but this is not his best area... Has good hand/eye coordination and catches the ball with hands properly extended... Has enough strength to stop the ballcarrier when he stays low in his pads and extends his arms properly... Likes to get physical with receivers at the line of scrimmage, using his hands adequately to try and reroute and jam... Dangerous playmaker who has the acceleration and sudden burst to break through the crease and gain long yardage as a returner.

Negatives... Needs to show better hand technique in attempts to shed and disengage at the point of attack... Does a good job of reading the quarterback, but will sometimes peek into the backfield too long, taking him out of position... Susceptible to play action and fakes... Makes plays in front of him, but is still learning to adjust and pattern read when working in zone coverage.

Agility tests: 4.45 in the 40-yard dash... 330-pound bench press... 37.5-inch vertical jump.

High school: Attended Westlake (Atlanta, Ga.) High School, playing football for coach Dallas Allen... Totaled 120 tackles, six interceptions and 1,850 yards rushing as a senior...
