Jerry Jones' attention must be devoted to fixing part that connects entire offense

IRVING, Texas -- Jerry Jones has one task this offseason: Fix the Dallas Cowboys (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/dal/dallas-cowboys)' offensive line.
Nothing else matters. Not signing Tony Romo (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/5209/tony-romo) to a new deal. Not courting Sean Payton.
Nothing.
Making this raggedy offensive line a playoff-caliber unit must be Jerry's top priorty.

If we dont make a serious effort to fix the o-line (guard & center), i will be more than upset.

The problem is this article and this issue could have and should been written and listened to last year. Or even years before. Its not like this has come as a complete surprise.

EXACTLY

after cutting all the old guys and using nothing but scrubs last year we saw what happened
19 sacks in December

Then they proceed to go dumpster diving for two FA's and claim that is enough.

If I was Tony I would tell Jerruh there will be no negotiations on an extension until I see evidence you are serious about fixing the O line

If we had a dominant line we would almost be unstoppable.

Not gonna happen my friends... Jerry does not value offensive linemen just like he does not value safeties. He thinks they are a "dime a dozen" and not glitzy enough to sell jerseys. He only values glamour horses who eat up lots of cap but produce few victories. Jerry is a Nieman Marcus buyer who doesn't shop at the "5 & dime". Get used to mediocrity my friends.

My thoughts exactly. I don't remember ever seeing Romo so up in arms on the sidelines after a non-scoring drive. I can imagine he is pretty frustrated with the lack of support.

There's no money in a non-skill position.

He won't make a dime off of #'s 60-79.

Too stoopid to realize the #'s 60-79 win SB's. THAT's where the cup runneth over.

Go small when you need to go large. Perfect.

I'm not necessarily advocating spending big bucks on names. Just better talent evaluation from the GM.

AND for the love of all that is good put Free and Tyron back where they do some good. Failed experiment, IMO.

I think we'll learn a lot about if Tony is going to return. I'm sure the team knows if Romo wants to stay with the team or not and if we don't see serious oline changes, we'll know the answer is no. I doubt Jerry would ever bother with oline fixes if Romo wants out.

Costa will be next years starter at center- book it.

Tony won't leave if he is offered a contract.

They've already said they will franchise him if they can't get a long term deal, but both sides want the deal anyway. He's not going anywhere.

RT in round 1. C or G in round 2. Unless we land a stud FA at either spot.

I also want a top Return Specialist. I wish Lockett of K-State was going to be available.

I really hope we are able to pick up a quality vet for the OL in FA and we take another one in Round 1 or 2 in the Draft - and possibly another OL Day 3.

The other position I hope we get in Round 1 or 2 is a player who can get help get some pressure on opposing QBs - preferably a DL. (I think we re-sign or franchise Spencer.)

The drafting of Tyron Smith doesn't really fit with your proclamation.

Didn't Jerry just say that he doesn't think there's anything wrong with our O-Line? Good luck getting him to do something about it. *rolls eyes*

Before you speak, look where he is ranked this year among all tackles...
Not just left tackles either...

Do some reading & then spout off...

I agree , both the OL positions cant be addressed in draft , FA is better for C/G and may be T in early rounds(2nd round), We need to get DL help - some one in the mould of Ward in houston in the 1st round and a decent safety. Or safety position can be shored by return of Church and hopefully healthy Johnson.

As some one mentioned , Jerra's S-i-L needs to do a better job with his glasses. Jerry is not seeing the 7 sacks and numerous hits and all the jugglery Romo is going thru'.

To me O-Line is without a doubt the biggest need. Some work to the D-Line would also be a very good idea.

But O-Line has to be the first, second, and third priority of this team for the offseason.

...state of affairs when we begin making next year's draft wish list.

I understand everyone's frustration with the line and the obviousness of the issue doesn't bode well.

only 1 first rd pick in 24 years used on the O line

and then what does he do otherwise- two bargain basement FAs

Kind of destroys that arguement, doesn't it?

Kind of destroys that arguement, doesn't it?

He hired a "name" OL coach and truly believes that will overcome garbage talent.

He thought that with Houck also.

He isn't going to change.

Good players make good coaches much more so than the opposite.
