Fitzgerald trade intriguing but unlikely

Here are the latest Whispers we're hearing from our sources throughout the NFC:

• Is the prospect of the Cardinals actually trading star WR Larry Fitzgerald for a slew of draft picks more than just juicy talk-radio fodder in the desert these days? “It is pure speculation right now,” one team insider told PFW. “Larry will never talk about it, but it will be interesting to see if he actually does ask to be traded in the offseason. It’s conceivable, I guess. It all depends on which direction the organization decides to go. I would think it could really be hard to sell tickets without your top box-office draw. Plus, you’d be talking about a cap hit in the double-digit millions. Right now, it’s a hot topic on the airways that seems a lot less likely when you start to realistically look at the situation.”

The Cards are a disaster.

They have no QB and they really can't run the ball at all.

Larry Fitz is one of my favorite players to watch. From all accounts that I have heard he is the type of guy that younger players should strive to emulate.

I feel for him and other guys like him who are exactly the type of players you want to root for but they are stuck in horrible situations. Then again, don't sign your life away to driftwood teams and you won't have to weather the crap storm.

You made your $100M bed......hope you can get some rest in it.

How many draft picks are they really going to get for him though? I mean don't get me wrong the dude is flat out amazing. I always say I believe Andre Johnson is the best WR in the NFL and Larry is the guy right there behind him, along with Megatron, so I know Larry is great but come on. He's a WR. How many draft picks is someone really going to give up for a WR, even a great one?

If I know Jerry, he will give them like 3 1sts 2 2nds and 3 4ths and Larry will come here blow out his knee and never be the same again.

He's that and more. It's not his fault his rotation of QBs all suck.

Fizgerald has played with 10 different QBs. He is in his 9th season. He made a big mistake staying with the Cardinals.

......ALOT of us said he'd rue the day he signed that....they can't afford to put anyone decent around him: specifically a serviceable OLINE.

I admire the fire for wanting to win with the team that picked out and help build them from basically the ground up but that's a bit idealistic. They're so far from having a QB that they're probably burn their resources on it until they get one and then have to patch all the holes that were left when they couldn't address needs because they were in the never ending pursuit of a passer.
