My HTML writing is way out of practice. Any recommendations for a site builder? My host has the usual scripts, but I really don't like them.

Cute ftp

I have used the cmd line ftp clients for a long time, but when I used to use a UI-based ftp client, I always used CuteFTP as well.

Depends on what you want it to do. I love joomla

I want to start off slowly, just to get the hang of it again. But eventually I want to build an informational website. Forums are easy and readily available, but the HTML editors have changed quite a bit since i last updated my site 3 years ago. Yes, 3 years, lol.

CuteFTP is still around and being updated? I've always used CLI FTP clients except when just downloading which I would just use a browser. (unless downloading lots of files, then back to CLI)

The last GUI FTP client I installed was for a user and it was FileZilla.

As for building a website. I would look at a Content Management System (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_management_system). Building one from scratch these days is foolish unless you have a completely new idea or extraordinary requirements.

You can Google "Top 10 CMS" and get several options.

Macs are Unix based. Don't they have "ftp"? :laugh2:

Cute FTP. If not that, find another one that supports segmented downloads. It makes a big difference in download speed for me.
