Wow either I've been in the dark lately or this has not gotten the hype it deserves in the media, but the 2nd year pro for San Fran is poised to make a serious run at Strahan's record.
I hope he breaks it, I hate Michael Strahan with a passion.

It deserves some credit, but with 4 games to go it still may be pretty tough to get. Smith has 3 games this year where he did not register a sack, but his impressive 5.5 sack performance against Chicago has inflated his numbers a tad. Not saying he's not good, because this kid is very good. But it's still going to be tough.

I think he'll get it. He could probably get a dozen in the Arizona game.

5.5 of those were against the Bears in one game with Jason Campbell.

Might be tough. There's no Favre to make sure he gets it.

You act like that discredits it. I remember Osi from the Giants got 6 sacks in a game once and only finished the season with (I believe) 12. I think the same thing happened with Elvis Dumervil from the Broncos. Even the immortal Ware's seasons are inflated by a few 3-4 sack games. That'll be amazing if he does it in his second season. The sack record might be the hardest single season record to break.

Smith is one helluva good player.

Didn't Jared Allen break the record? Or was I in the twilight zone (not the vampire place kiddos) when that happened?
Edit: Yep, twilight zone (just checked)

has Ware had a 4 sack game ever? But I don't expect you to know. You just throw numbers out there.

It is interesting how so often a big sack score is predicted and it quite often never happens

Last year against the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Haha throw numbers out. Osi recorded 6 sacks in a game in 2007 and finished with only 13 on the season. And the other guy was Antwan Odom, not Elvis Dumveril like I said, who finished with 5 in a game in 2009 and only 8 on the season, but that's because he missed half the season. The point is, the OP was trying to basically discredit Aldon Smith's historic season because his 5.5 sack performance inflated his season total stats. And, yes, like someone else said, Ware has recorded a 4 sack game, and, nope, that didnt inflate his stats enough to break the record.

Same here. Please break it. That said, Aldon Smith is a serious beast! Talk about a nervous tackle..lol. He is so fast that most tackles don't see where that first step goes when the ball is hiked.

and you just proved you did not know anything.
By the way last year Ware never had more than 2 sacks in a game except for that one. But go ahead and slobber all you want

I wanted Smith really bad. We never had the chance.

Why? He is a very easy going guy. He definitely doesn't deserve to own the sack record since Favre *gave* it to him.

he had another 2 sacks today. 19.5 on the year and with a sack in each of the remaining games he will tie strahan's record. pretty impressive for a second year player and first year starter.

With the way Arizona played on offense today, he might blow the record out of the water.
Seattle got 8 turnovers today. How many does Dallas have all year? 10?

Man, I hope he gets it and wipes that fake record off the books.

as bad as I want ware to get the record, wiping Strahan would be sweet.
I'd love for him to break it. In fact, it would be nice if they'd tie so Strahan will constantly have to answer the questions about Farve laying down for him, while Smith had to get it for real.
