I didn't see other play much, but I'm happy to see DE addressed (hopefully successfully).

I was listening to the draft on the radio and the hosts seemed to think there was some "inside information" about something in Merrimans past that made Parcells pick Ware.

Has anybody heard anything to that effect?

Yeah, Merriman had injury problems in HS and early in college.

Thanks. Didn't know that.

The hosts made it sound like Merriman must have run over Parcell's puppy or something.

There's more to it than that. Merriman really wanted to play with his hands on the ground, and had bulked up to over 270 pounds. He just wasn't a good fit, and I'm glad he's not here.

Me too... I think he has good "bust" potential... much more so than Ware.

I have been a Spears guy for the last two weeks after I finally settled on what I thought we should do. I had Merriman a little higher than Ware but they were basically interchangable so I was not upset to pass on Merriman for Ware. Actually I thought we would go for Spears at #11 and go for Pollack at #20 but I am glad it worked out the way it did. I am very happy with these two players since there are a better combo that I expected to be able to get.

Me agree with this; it is the combo; we have the 300 lb defensive end that can play the position no matter how you define it. You have the best speed rusher in the draft. As long as you use each to his best and highest use, then each will live long and prosper; I like the idea of rotating the defensive lineman; no plays off this way. It is a great day; if we can hit for average on day two, we will be back on the road to respectability.
