What a great way to start a day, get a phone call and asked to go down to the basement of my building to take a drug test. Good thing I had that extra cup of coffee this morning did not have to wait long before filling the jar. :laugh2:

I should say I have no concerns over it at all. I don't do drugs and I don't drink I have nothing to hide.

while there are sometimes screwups and such that is true. The only ones that have to really fear a drug test are users

I have list of medication I am on should there be any problem. My doctor who can verify and again I don't do drugs so I'm good.

Still not something I care about doing 1st thing when I get into work but it is what it is.

she would not have let me bring it in with me. I had to empty my pockets, put my cell phone on the table only thing I brought in there with me was my wallet. Sink was taped and the toilet had dye in it.

Thankfully did not have to wait long since I had to go pretty bad. Lady kept wanting me to sign things and I just wanted to take care of business before it was too late. :laugh2:

I got picked for one a couple of years ago. It took them 14 yrs to finally call me. My boss comes to my office and says ok lets go. I of course said where. When he said drug test I :laugh2:. The only thing they will find in my system is Diet Coke so I had no worries. It was a waste of our time.

It usually takes me a while to submit. By law, you have 24 hours after being notified. It pays to know this. So I drink about a gallon and a half of water, pop some creatine and b12 and we're good as gold. ;)

it is attitudes like that have taken rights away from people in the western world

If you have nothing to hide,,,,

why not allow yourself to be searched

why not allow street cameras

why not allow cops to video you or type your licence into a computer for no reason other than the fact they can,

etc

Are you saying you like voluntarily giving up your rights? Do you like a copy typing your licence plate into his computer just because he can?

I can see an organization wanting a drug test if there is reason to suspect you are coming to work messed up.

But randomly? Not unless you are doing a job that puts others in danger if you are messed up.

You mean the only way you can have fun is by getting drunk and getting high? I gave that stuff up years ago. From LSD and Cocaine to weed to getting hammered at the bar. Yes I can still have a great time and not do all that crap. Feel sorry for those when the only way they can have fun or be interesting (by the way most stoners and drunks are not that interesting) is by getting high or drunk. :D

I know man, was just kidding.

We have "Random" drug tests all the time in the army. But by "random" it ALWAYS ends up being everyone in the Troop/Company.

Every. Last. Person. Nothing random about it.

And it's times like that that I take full advantage of my one and only superpower... the ability to summon urine just by walking into a bathroom. Even if I had no urge to urinate whatsoever before walking in. I'm usually the first out of there when we do a urinalysis. :D

This morning was the 1st time I did have to sit around for an hour waiting to go. After a couple of cups of coffee I was willing and ready. Had I signed one more paper she would have been getting the specimen off the floor.

When I was young if you needed a urine test, semen and stool sample I would just hand you my underwear.

I believe that is the law in this state.

You can be tested on condition of employment but random tests are illegal unless you are in a job that puts you or others at risk. Carrying a weapon. driving a company vehicle etc.

If you are working on the line or jockeying the desk they have to make up a reason to test you.

because from time to time I drive a county vehichle my position is considered safety sensitive however being at the County getting paid by tax payers they can ask any of us to take a test for whatever reason. To me it is no big deal since I don't do drugs and the only people who have failed are those who have been doing drugs.

But, for example, if you wanted to smoke marijuana on a friday night do you think it is reasonable that you could be fired for that even though that drug would not impair you at all on Monday?

Yeah the only random thing about an Army test is the date. Usually it was an O dark 30 wake everyone up and hand you a cup. :laugh2:

If you are a roughneck out drilling oil wells, and if anyone gets injured...the whole gang has to have a urine check.

And, that's the way it should be.

Better than the random lie detector tests companies used to be able to give you before a law was passed against it back in the 80s. I worked for McCoy's Building Supply back then and a guy in an RV with his lie detector machine in the back would be waiting in the parking lot for us when we arrived for work about every eight months or so. Always heard about people getting fired because of failing but never anyone at my store. I know I lied a few times and didn't get fired so I don't know about all of that. Sure was stressful though. When it became illegal they immediately went to drug testing.

a really good operator can detect just about anyone lying- but there are those that can beat the machine. And if you do not have a top operator you can usually beat it as well if you work at it. That is why its not allowed to be used in court cases.

CanadianCowboysFan

They are not allowed in court because it is the judge and jury that are supposed to determine credibility, not a machine.

what does a computer do on checking DNA? that is a machine. Analysis of fibers is done on a machine. Machines are everywhere.
