Do we really want Pete Hunter on our team? He is definitely not a team player we found that out when asked to move to free safety. Guys help me out here cause i really don't want someone on my team that won't do something for the sake of the team. He thinks he is a corner HA! Yeah and Deion was a nose taclke.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt until training camp. If he still refuses to help the team during training camp and he doesn't make the grade at CB I say cut him loose. We could easily keep Frazier, Thornton or one of the other first year guys on the roster in his place.
Thats a major pet peeve of Parcells - players that have overinflated opinions on their talent.
He's a longshot to make team unless he apologizes and moves to FS - JMO

I used to be a Petey fan, even when he was playing somewhat poorly last season. But I don't like public comments detrimental to the team.
Cut him.

Somebody posted an interview with Woodson a few days ago and he stated that Hunter was in the mix for free safety. I didn't see or hear the interview but it was definitely in a thread! :o:

I saw that. I want to believe Woody, but I have also heard reports from Dale (though I know he is not the same authority) that Hunter has been tried at safety and failed miserably.....

Parcells himself has addressed this. He's gonna be in Dallas as a CB. If you don't like that, there's not much you can do about it.
Parcells approached him and asked. That's all he could do. It wasn't an ultimadeum like most of you would have wanted.
Oh yeah... to finish off the rant... Don't judge him as not being a team player because there are people worse than him in the NFL that are doing the same thing. He's doing what he's doing because he thinks it's best for him. Parcells could have just as easily let him go for it but he didn't, so it's obviously not a problem to Parcells.
at the very least hunter could be a backup CB, competition at camp is always good. if someone is better he'll be gone.

I would like to see Hunter and Davis compete for the job, but who knows what is going on inside Hunter's head right now. Scott just doesn't have the athletic ability I want in a FS.

Unless you are a world beater at FS. He knows he can't be.
His mistake is that he would actually make more money playing FS for us than looking for a job as a CB. If he doesn't make the cut I really don't see many teams beating down his door with money in hand.
The Despeardoes need CB help.
He's played this poorly. If he's not careful that's his best option.

Hunter says he doesn't want to play FS, so Parcells says, "OK, have your own selfish way, I won't ask you to play FS."
Ah, but Parcells doesn't want him to play CB, ... where does that leave Hunter?
He has "big-babied" his own ticket out of Dallas.
Just my take, we'll see.

Not quite.
You're under the impression that Hunter cares about money. While this is a reasonable assumption, it may not be the case.
Hunter, simply put, may not want to be shuffled around to a free safety. You bash him for not being a team player and him being selfish because he doesn't do something he doesn't want to do.
How many times have you not want to have done something? You're all hypocrites to do this to him. Keep in mind when it's happened to you, you were probably kids and given the old "Do it or your grounded" treatment. That's an ultimadeum, not freedom to choose.

What are you talking about, "Do it or you're grounded"
Get real, you do what the coaches tell you to do.
I have seen TE's get moved to tackle.
Do you think they WANTED to go from catching passes and running the ball to fighting DL & LB'ers every play ?
No, they did it because it helped the team.
I have seen FB's get moved to guard.
They did it not because they wanted to, but because it helped the team.
I had been THE running back in my class through Pop Warner, Jr High, Freshman ball, JV and varsity as a soph.
We got a new coach when I was a Jr that ran the stick-I.
He needed someone he could depend on to be the upback, the blocking back, the "guard in the backfield" so to speak.
Guess what, he picked me.
I didn't like it.
I only ran 4-5 times a game after that, and caught 3-4 passes, where, like I said before, I had always been THE running back and had always carried 20 + times a game.
Even though I didn't like it, I did it both my Jr & Sr. year, because that's where the coach decided the team needed me.
He did let me return punts & kickoffs, but I wanted to be the tailback.
My point is, if Parcells asked Hunter to try FS, he should do it, ... end of discussion.

I take it your parents didn't discipline you.

You get real. Professional sports is way different. Coaches ask you to do positional changes. They don't tell you to do it or you're fired.

Where? In high school? Fullbacks wouldn't make good guards in the NFL.
I had been THE running back in my class through Pop Warner, Jr High, Freshman ball, JV and varsity as a soph.
Good for you. I'm sure you consider that an accomplishment.
We got a new coach when I was a Jr that ran the stick-I.

Guess what, he picked me.
You were in high school then. You got stuck with an ultimadeum. Either do it or you're kicked from the team. You didn't have much of a choice.
I didn't like it.
I'm sure you didn't. Teenagers in high school don't like not getting their way.
I only ran 4-5 times a game after that, and caught 3-4 passes, where, like I said before, I had always been THE running back and had always carried 20 + times a game.
I'm glad that you had been humbled like you were.
Even though I didn't like it, I did it both my Jr & Sr. year, because that's where the coach decided the team needed me.
Again, you didn't have much of a choice. So, all you could do was not like it.
He did let me return punts & kickoffs, but I wanted to be the tailback.
Now you know why they call it "special teams." :D
My point is, if Parcells asked Hunter to try FS, he should do it, ... end of discussion.
Not quite. Your point is dependant on the fact that Hunter is a teenager and that he is a subordinate to a person that can manipulate him. Guess what... Parcells can't manipulate Hunter in that manner. All he can do is make a request and act accordingly on how he responds. He can't force him into anything.
College and professional levels are quite different than high school. Coaches expect for players to be responsible for what they do. They expect a player to do what's best for themselves while doing what they think is best for the team. If Hunter thought he was doing better where he was, then so be it. You can criticize his decision all you want and dish out punishment, but it doesn't change the fact he thought he's better where he is and Parcells has to respect and act according to that decision.
Parcells isn't his father. Don't expect him to act as such.

First, let me say that I do believe Hunter is making a mistake. I think his future with the Boys is at FS.
Having said that, I don't think you can make the assumption that Hunter is not a team player. You have to consider the fact that while it may seem clear to you and I that Hunter is a FS on this team, he may not view it that way. Consider, he wasn't really playing all that poorly when he got injured. In his mind, he may just view this as not having a real opportunity to prove what he can do.
From a monitary stand point, if the club approached RLWs and asked him to take a pay cut for the good of the team, would he be considered a none team player if he refused? I may believe that Hunter is going to make more money at FS then CB but this may not be clear to Hunter.
Two sides to every story. I think he's making a mistake but I wouldn't lable the guy a selfish player just because he believes he can play CB. If he didn't believe in his abilities, he would never have made it as far as he has.
Just another point of view to consider.

Too simplistic. We should package him, Quincy Morgan and a couple of other players for an extra draft pick next year. That's what I don't like about Parcells, he just arbitrarily cuts players that actually have some value without trying get anything for them. By themselves, the individual player may not be worth much, but as a package deal, they do. Example, Denny Green traded Duane Starks to New England for 4th and Seattle traded Dilfer to the Browns for a 4th. The Cardinals or 'Hawks didn't even draft these players, yet they got a return on them. What did we get for Ekuban, a #1 draft pick or Mike Myers or Peppi Zelner or Demetric Evans or QC or Tyson Walter. All of these players were drafted and released and went on to other teams and made valuable contributions without us getting anything in return.

Just remember this long post when Hunter is playing for a different team.
We didn't go out and bring in two FA CB's because Parcells likes Hunter.

Please don't bother debating with KDWilliams85.
He talks in circles and thinks everything has some deep, hidden meaning beneath it.
He's still mad because he told me we would not be a 3-4 this year.
As for Petey... If he's not willing to be flexible for the sake of the team... #@$% him.
And I guarantee you BP will say the same.
