I know this is a frequent topic about the uniforms and such. As well, I know there are a lot of traditionalist on this forum that would never change the uniform wholesale to a totally different design... I tend to agree. However lets see some tweaks. With the return of the key injured players, the 3-4 on its way, all the young players looking to mark their mark, and what seems to be a re-committment by JJ, this is a new era for the cowboys, I am sure there are some small things that could be done to express ATTITUDE and define this generation of cowboys as the beginnging of something special.

What about blue or white face masks, what about a different font for the numbers on the uniforms, what about putting a star on the stripe of the pants... these are just suggestions, but I would like to see these young guys put their stamp on this team, primarily by the way they play and contribute, but also with a look and signature that says "we are not the same 5-11 cowboys of recent history" Lets see some new attitude this season.

Use the grey road pants for both home and away. Then match the blue numbers to the same blue on the helmets and we are done......nothing else needs to be done.

most teams use their dark jerseys for home games. i think that's why schramm & co. went against the grain and made the whites our home uni. so the cowboys would almost always be in their "home uniform".

i also remember thinking the blue jerseys were bad luck. anybody else have similar memories?

Does anyone ask to tweak a Picasso? Definitely not. Our uni's, in my opinion are fine.

I did at one time think that maybe we should go to a blue fase mask that matched the star on the helmet. But even that would be tampering.

The Cowboy's uni's are fine the way the are... and when the Cowboys are winning and in highlight reels, it just gets better. No change needed.

I would go back to using the numbers style that the Cowboys used from 86-93, the big, thick ones. They just looked intimidating. I would tweak them a little though, the 6's, 8's and 9's didn't look right because the closed end of the number would be less thick than the rest of the number (I wrote to Tex Schramm once in 1987 and told him those uniform numbers looked like they were cut out by a blind man). Otherwise the uniform is THE classiest of the league, along with (and I hate to say this) the Raiders. If they wanted to switch uniforms completely I would say go with the Thanksgiving throwbacks like someone else said on here. Those are the bomb!!

Back in the late 70s, when rivals (i.e. Redskins, Eagles) wore their white jerseys at home to somehow jinx the Cowboys, fans asked why the Cowboys wore white at home instead of the traditional color jerseys most NFL home teams wear. I recall hearing that in the 60s and 70s, Landry wanted the team to wear white, cooler jerseys in the Texas heat during August, Sept and October, and the team got so accustomed to the "whites" they just decided to wear them full-time. Ive also heard that Tex Schramm just liked and preferred the white jerseys more........Anyone?

the Cowboys have the best looking jerseys in the entire league. I am talking about the road blues, home whites, and even the last 2 versions of the double star jerseys(the ones worn during the last 2 thanksgiving day games).

the only jerseys the 'Boys have ever worn that I have never liked were the double star jerseys from the 75th anniversary(of the NFL) they wore in the 90's. I never liked those. if anything those were bad luck jerseys(remember the championship game against the forty-whiners).

but I am glad they finally have the "tackle twill" for the letters and numbers instead of the screen printing. I guess that is league wide though.

and speaking of jerseys......does anybody know where i can find a throwback ROGER STAUBACH jersey? I am talking about the the old road blue jersey, not the white one. I would prefer one with tackle twilled name and numbers. if anybody knows where i can find one please let me know.

I don't think we need to change the Uni's at all. They're classic.

Still, I really do like the practice jerseys that we have:

Yep. I like them so much that I'd be okay if we started using them for games. They're very, very sharp and I think the team would look great lining up in them in San Diego.

In that pic of Barber, the blue is so dark that it's almost black. Worn with those shorts he's wearing it looks nice. I wouldn't mind having dark blue pants that match the numbers with the white jerseys. Man, that'd be nice.

Oh well. It'll never happen so it's a good thing that our old uniforms look great too.

Over the years we have had gray (blue-gray) pants & helmets and metallic silver pants & helmets (very subtle color difference). And we have had Royal blue stripes and numbers on the jersey and Navy Blue stripes and numbers. My preference is to have the metallic silver pants and helmets with the Navy Blue stripes and numbers. I don't believe that we have used that particular combination before and I would like to see us go to that. It is a subtle change and yet still using colors and designs consistent with our history.

I would not make any changes to the away blues; they look pretty sharp and we seem to have broken the Blue Jersey Jinx. And I would do away with Thanksgiving Jerseys all together I hate the look of them and we have started losing the Thanksgiving game every year since we went to that crappy looking throwaway...errr...throwback jersey.

WE DONT NEED TO CHANGE OUR JERSEYS. I BELIVE WE HAVE THE BEST JERSEYS IN THE LEAGUE. (OK ALONG WITH THE RAIDERS). I FEEL WE DONT NEED GIMICKS TO SELL JERSEYS. WE HAVE THE MOST KNOWN LIKED AND CLASSIE JERSEY IN ALL OF SPORTS. THEN AGAIN I COULD BE BIAS :iggles: :iggles: :iggles: :iggles: :iggles:

Unlike many on this board, I liked the blue double star jerseys from the mid-90's (the ones worn in the NFC title loss to SF 38-28) and would like to see them as the permanent home uniform. Short of that, do it like the Eagles and other teams do: 4 home games in white (during the early season due to the heat) and 4 in the blue. I really like our blue road jerseys. We just never see them except for vs. WAS. I'm not superstitious about the jersey color. Turnovers lost us that NFC title game vs. SF, not the double star jerseys.

My thoughts exactly!

On not changing a classic... Look at pictures from the 70's, 80's, and even the 90's - it appears to me there have been many tweaks along the way.

On HD the home pants look like metallic teal and the numbers do not match the blue on the helmet. That has always bugged me a little.

We used to think we lost in the blue ones. Most of the time we could wear the white. Some teams chose to wear their white at home forcing us to wear the blue.

I still have a preference for the white ones.

It was a marketing thing pure and simple. The Cowboys wore white so the other team could show off its signature colors when they played in Texas Stadium. This made for a more attractive matchup.

It was a bit more than that, the dark blues are absorb heat and Texas Stadium gets dog gone hot is the 1st part of the season (Sept through Oct), whites are much cooler which is why you see them wear that during practice as well.

Quite true, and probably also a big part of making the decision to go white!

BTW, I also would like to see the numbers cut more stylish, maybe with western font to remind of cowboys and the wild west. I always wondered what mirror chrome on the helmet instead of silver would look like. Maybe too reflective... the reflections might hide the blue star.

The serif style numerals on jerseys in the 60s and 70s were damned sharp, and had a western feel to them. Id LOVE to see the team go back to that, so distinctive. The current blue road jerseys could use a lot of work and change. Nothing distinctive to them, IMHO.
