That franchise is a joke.

DId they sign Corey Hall and then released him? Or are you saying that they signed him and they should release him?
Cory had a change of heart about continuing his NFL career, and asked to be released.
The team complied.
They paid him nothing for his brief stay---there was no bonus.
Anyone who'd lamely try to spin that scenario that into a franchise being a "joke" ought to check the man in the mirror.

I agree they are a joke! Where did you hear this news? Please provide a link if you have one.
If this is true I wonder if they released hall to make room for R.W. McQuarters? R-dub wasn't on the market when they first signed Hall. Perhaps once R-dub was there they wanted him instead?

Check what mirror?
We passed on him and did not sign him.
You did.

Maybe not in that instance...but it's still a joke...hehe...see, I can't stop laughing...
We weren't marrying the guy, we were bringing him in to compete for a backup job.
You don't propose to the girl you're interviewing for 2nd string mistress. You get what you can, and move on.

Redskins are better off without Hall, IMO. That cat is done with football and his skills were only marginal to begin with.
Addition by subtraction for them.

So it is not embarassing that you announced that you signed him one day then release him the next after apparently not being able to gauge just how much he was contemplating retirement or a foray into coaching?
All that is missing is Hall turning up in Albuquerque claiming he was kidnapped.

I expect nothing less.

According to my sources, Gibbs decided to take time off from his pursuing his masters in Clairvoyance when he signed on to Coach again last year. The uncommited bastige.

I got one word that describes the Redskins- Pathetic.
Dallas took a look and passed. He is trying to hook up with a team and yet he is not in great shape. Guess the skins need it spelled out for them. He is no longer commited

And the Sean Taylor situation isn't any better either. Taylor played good last year, but its hard to respect a 2nd year player holding out for a bigger contract.
Some of these guys are so damn Greedy, don't you think?

Hey Om, in another thread you asked me to list things the Skins have done that I approve of... well, I thought signing Hall was a mistake, but if they sign McQuarters, as is being rumored, I will think that's a pretty shrewd move for 'em...
You're right, Hall packing it in might actually be to the Skins' benefit...

This just in from Clinton Portis.......C. Hall has had the spotlight on him all offseason, he is just going down to Miami to hang with Sean Taylor and chill.

There ya go-- I started wondering about the guy when I read he'd run a 4.8 40 for the Cowboys... that sure sounded like a guy who'd let himself get WAY out of shape...
I think the Skins dodged a bullet here...

Short Stay: Redskins Waive DB Hall
By Gary Fitzgerald
Redskins.com
May 26, 2005
Recently signed defensive back Cory Hall has decided to leave the Redskins and the team has subsequently released the six-year veteran.
Hall had signed with the Redskins on Tuesday and worked with the defense during an OTA session on Wednesday. He played for the Atlanta Falcons last season and had considered retiring from the NFL before signing with the Redskins.
The Redskins still have five safeties on the roster: Sean Taylor, Matt Bowen, Andre Lott, Ryan Clark and recently signed Pierson Prioleau.
Hall, 6-0 and 213 pounds, played for the Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals in his six-year NFL career. He played in 87 games with 70 starts and compiled 352 tackles (232 solo), four interceptions and one forced fumble.
Hall played in 14 games (starting 13) in 2004 with Atlanta, compiling 60 tackles (40 solo). In addition, Hall started both playoff games, including the 2004 NFC Championship game in which he posted two tackles.
Hall began his NFL career as a third round (65th overall) draft choice by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1999 NFL Draft. He played his collegiate ball at Fresno State.
With the release of Hall, the Redskins now have a vacant roster spot.

The scuttlebut here in D.C. is that the Hall signing wasn't thought through very well... but that the team is very nervous because they are unsure of the status of Sean Taylor for the upcoming season. Basically, they signed Hall to provide safety insurance for Taylor. Now that Hall has flaked out, this only improves Taylor's hand.
As for McQuarters... apparently, he left town without a contract because he wants to test the market further. Speculation is that Danny boy will get his man, as he usually does. But you never know.
Don't let Om fool you ;) ... the natives are restless. Moves like this Hall situation are making people really question the decision making.

Actually ... you're right. Man took one look at the level of competition, and it dawned on him how much harder he'd have to work than ever before just to make the team as a 5th stringer, and he realized he simply wasn't up to the task.

I'm a faithful listener to Sportstalk 980... I know what's going on. And that's the report from Redskin Park. Spin all you like... but this was a bizarre move by your team. I think the front office is very concerned about the immediate future of Sean Taylor.

I thought all Redskin fans were spin doctors.
Losses are blamed on poor officiating, bad breaks and inopportune luck.
And it shocks you that there is a denial of a "questionable decision" by Snyder, Gibbs and company by a Redskin fan?

It was actually covered in one of Bram's Redskins reports. I know everyone over at ES dismisses all beat reporters who don't write their reports straight off of Danny's press releases, but he is a good reporter.
Czaban and Polin are just fun to listen to for entertainment value... no real news to be had from them. You couldn't pay me to listen to John Thompson and his band of uninteresting morons like Doc Walker and Al Koken.

Didn't we sign that TE last year in Rhicks and then he either quite or we released him later that week. Sort of the same thing here.
C. Hall Now an Ex-Redskin
By Rich Tandler Editor-in-Chief
Date: May 26, 2005
No, the front page picture did not accidently revert to a few days ago; Cory Hall is in the news for the Redskins again. The ex-Falcon and ex-Bengal became an ex-Redskin at his own request today, getting his release from the team that signed him just three days ago.
Just a few days after signing him as to compete for a spot at safety, the Redskins released Cory Hall, a six-year veteran.
The release came at Hall’s request according to a report by the team. He seemed to be somewhat unsure about continuing his football career earlier this offseason. According to some reports, he was out of shape when he visited the Dallas Cowboys last month and his passion to continue playing was in question.
Hall’s departure makes the Redskins’ safety picture a bit clearer, although there are still five players who have started at safety in the NFL—Sean Taylor, Matt Bowen, Andre Lott, Ryan Clark, and Pierson Prioleau.
I never would have thought having a player on your roster for a day could have clouded the picture but I'm glad to hear its clearer now

I disagree. The only radio show or sports show period where you can hear an interview with Red Auerbach and get an interview with Tiger Woods with his Wife laughing in the background.
John Thompson show isn't your regular radio sports show, he has the ability to get interviews even Dan Patrick can't pull off on Sportcenter.
But I think we both agree that :skins: suck ;)
