Heard an interview with Thomas Henderson on a local Austin radio station this morning. He is promoting his new book "In Control: The Rebirth of an NFL Legend".

The book is about the last 20 years of his life and how he has remained clean from drugs. He sounded very happy and is enjoying living in Austin. He was joking around and talked about being at a golf event thrown by Darrell Royal this weekend. Said that a bunch of guys were coughing, sniffling and sneezing because of allergies. He mentioned that the 5 straight years he did cocaine pretty much ruined his syptoms so he doesn't have any problems with allergies. He didn't recommend trying that method to overcome allergy problems.

He said the day before he went to prison, he was in a car with an addict. The other guy said they should go get high. Hollywood said that he used all kind of excuses to get high before. Played poorly, lost a loved one and whatever and now faced with going to prison, maybe everyone would actually understand that as a good excuse to do it. He didn't. He said that was a big step in the right direction for him. He says he approaches life by doing good things when no one is llooking.

Ill have to check that out, I loved his play early in his career...

Folks called me "Hollywood" back when I played because I loved the limelight when the game started...and it showed...

Good luck to ya Hollywood Henderson..

"Coach," pause for emphasis, "when you're cool the sun's always shining on you!"

If everyone lived by that motto (or whatever) the world would be a much better place.

Isn't that the truth. I was thinking the other day how many posters rip players for not being good people, then come on this forum and attack each other for having different views.

And most of those internet fights are just because, we are anonymous when on web. We can be obnoxious to each other with no repercussions.

When he was in junior high, we called him 'Hen', cause he was skinny, scarey and ran like a chicken. Puuuuck!

Hos, I like to tell folks that us west Texas boys are the best cussers in the world...

It ain't that we use any words folks haven't heard before, it's all in the creative way we string 'em together...

And they always start out the same way-- "you miserable, ROTTEN..."

:D

:DI grew up on a ranch in southern New Mexico around old cowboys. I considered them very wise in their homespun humor. I often quote them. That includes when I get really mad and let the blue words fly. After all, a wise old cowboy once told me that "cows don't understand polite."
