On this forum a few weeks ago ,Our great friend Dale posted some mini-camp pictures. It was very nice to see how many players on our team looked like they were very motivated this off season in the weight room.
AB added muscle no Question
Our new runner Jones has size everywhere, Worked hard last few yrs.
Newman has added muscle mass.
Hunter looks to be bulked-up some.
Dat and roy are said to be bigger this yr, poor TO, haha
Allen looked to be in shape.
Which brings me to Gurode. The photos that dale so excellently sent us show me that he was huge. His tricepts looked very big and his bicepts looked good too. To my eyes he looked like the second strongest lineman on the team easily, he must have improved his bench press/strength this yr. He does have a round belly, but so do road graders, and thats what I want.Pop the guy in front of you and start paving a way for Jones.
WANTED FROM POSTERS ON THIS TREAD.
Pictures of Gurode from mini-camp
Any current info on Gurodes bench press/strength
opinions
I think he just might have been watching allen and could possibly be ready to do some bigtime road grading for the boys. If this happens there could be holes for Jones to run though a lot this yr. Adams Allen johnson Gurode all solid this yr, I really am getting excited for JJ to bust some runs. He does run well inside and I think our line will be solid w/ poss. exception RT tackle.
Im guessing/counting on lots of smash mouth road grading this yr,with many holes for JJ to pop through .

Is it your opinion Gurode has not improved his strength, his arms look more sculpted and massive to me. It seems he has put in some real good reps, He did have a reputation for a good line push his first year. I Want to find his current bench,Could be interesting .
Im hoping he steps up big ,Peterman can spell Allen and take his spot soon.

True his gut looked big. However his arms seemed big and the gut could be from loading on protien and carbs adding muscle to arms and legs. Im sure he has time to trim down before the season w/ traning camp and summer work.
I have a feeling he may be significantly stronger ,and it may show in camp, just my opinion judgeing from photos. I do however want to know his bench in relationship to the others on the line.
I'll be watching him w/ intrest this year. Will he be a road grader ?
Bill Knows, but is he telling ?
Gurode's biggest problem was his stupid penalties. Bil won't stand for that. He either cuts them down or he sits down. My best guess still has him starting this year though.
Flozell
LA
Johnson
Gurode
Tucker
Will start IMO.

I agree. But will it stay that way all year? And will it really matter? Either way I really like the direction this line is going.

A little while back, Spags on the radio said that BP told Gurode that he needed to get stronger and Spags said that he has worked on his strength this offseason. He didn't give any information on his bench or anything.
And apparently Gurode had problems adjusting to the new offense last season because Spagnola also said that last season that the coaches questioned if Gurode was studying the playbook enough since that seemed to be his problem with the pre-snap penalties. So hopefully Gurode has had enough time now to be comfortable with the playbook.

I doubt it. Injuries, poor play, whatever, I think BP will shuffle it around. I think he brought in some guys to really challenge both Gurode and Larry. DiNapoli could see some time at center in a platoon type thing like last year. Rogers/Tucker could also do some rotating.

I doubt it also. I wouldn't mind some kind of rotation in our line. It would be nice to have some depth that gets playing time on a somewhat regular basis.

Sorry about my vague message, I just found the delivery of your original "Wanted from Posters" post a bit demanding, as if it were an "Ask Jeeves" forum.
I remain hopeful that Gurode will turn the corner because he has solid coaching and a solid pedigree but it must be acknowledged that he hasn't had a decent year in the NFL yet. Something is wrong.
Your questions highlight a pet peeve of mine over the fact that fanatics like us have many questions that are going unanswered. You would think the army of internet Cowboy reporters could deviate from the gratuitous and redundant mulling over Quincy Carter's outlook and give us something new.... like Gurode's offseason or our new TE from Boston college or Al Johnson's fitness for duty. Really, is that asking too much?

Gurode had a very disappointing season last year but his rookie season was a lot better than you are giving him credit for. As a rookie he made coaches and fans believe that he was going to be a pro-bowl player in the near future.

Gurode was doing a good job of blocking but had too many penalties. I think he will be OK this year.
I also agree it would be nice for the writers to write about something different and intellegent for a change instead of the same old mindless drivel.
We talked about Antonio Bryant so much in the last week I could care less if I never hear his name again. It was nice for them to have something different than the backseat driver Quincy Carter show for a change but enough is enough. I mean how many different slants can you put on it, like it or not Quincy is the Quarterback until we get someone better. Curly

A "Gu-roadgrader" would be nice. I just hope he doesn't get so fat he becomes a "Gu-ro ".

I admit that I've killed a few brain cells since 2002, but I don't remember Gurode's rookie season being anything BUT pedestrian! Other than a couple of flashes, he was penalty prone and beaten countless times.

Thats funny Also thanks for the clarification EGG,you can have really good replies.
I think our line might be ok this year, we'll have to wait untill camp to see if Gurode can push anyone significant around. Mabey Bill will give us a praise bone about him.If Jones can start to squese through some cracks this yr, The line might have incintive to open a crease or two on a regular basis. We all remember last yr.,the line just waited for hambrick to run up thier backs, no since to try to open more holes, its not like he could cut back or anything.
One thing that play's in my mind is that Nate newton said" we were a bunch of nobuddies untill emmitt came to town".
