For the fourth season ( ) in a row this poor guy is out for the year. Suffered a non-contact torn ACL in a Bucs practice.
Incidentally, the way he caught on w/ Tampa in the first place was running routes and catching passes in Henson's league-wide workout in Houston a few months back.

Dam! This cat played at Jackson State (same school as Walter Payton, Jimmy Smith, and countless other pros), he was a helluva of a college WR, too bad I hope he recovers fully.

This guy and the WR that Miami took a few years back (Yatil Green maybe) ....talk about bad luck for those guys.

That guy is snakebit! Those Jackson St. wide receivers have had their trouble with injuries. Hopefully for him he can rebound eventually like Jimmy Smith did.

Oh yeah, you nailed it Brain, good 'ol Yatil from UM and subsequently with the Dolphins. If I'm not mistaken, Green's odyssey spanned the '97 and '98 seasons, and he finally got on the field in '99 for the Dolphins. Down here he received lots of sympathy since he'd been with UM too, where he had injury trouble also. He also had a stint with the Raiders the year the Dolphins released him I believe.

I'm not sure, but wasn't Morris originally drafted by the Chiefs??

You are correct sir and his stay there was also an injury riddled one.

I really thought the guy was going to be one of the better WRs coming out...so sad to see a guy hit by so many injuries off the bat like that and never really get a good chance to display his skills.

I feel the same way. Without looking up stats I think he had a pretty decent rookie season. One thing for sure he had the makings of a good one. He was tall, fast, ran good routes, and had great hands. I wish him well.
Who needs McCardell, Keyshawn or Morris when you have the speedy Joey Galloway!

I forgot all about Green. I heard an interesting story about him on the radio a few years ago from his agent Drew Rosenhaus. Rosenhaus was having Green workout for potential draft teams, when one of Green's posse pulled Rosenhaus aside. This same guy lowerd his voice and told Rosenhaus that if he didn't take care of his boy, "This is what would happen." He lifted up his shirt where his pistol was resting. That about sums up Miami players for you. :p

It kind of reminds of Anthony Lucus. That poor kid couldn't catch a break either.

I haven't been able to post lately due to work, but I know Sylvester. I coached basketball at JAckson State while he played football. The kid has such a personality that it is truly sad to hear this. I'm here in Jackson and the first I heard of it was through this site. The funny thing about it is that he is a Cowboys fan at heart and we used to talk about the Boys all the time in the Gym. Just think, while he played on one side of the ball, his other receiving teammate was Corey Bradford. Those were the days. By the way, JSU is also the school that produced 50cent.

I appreciate the story even though J-State was a bitter rival; I really respected a lot of the players. Whether they or SU were dominating the SWAC I always had mad respect/hate for them.
PS, where you there when Big Lazy (D. Connors), Lester Holmes, and Jimmy Smith were there? Man they had a squad. They also had a running back that was the second coming of sweetness during that era but I think he got shot in the stomach but I can't remember his name. As I recall they had about 8, 9 players drafted off of the team from 1989 to the early 90’s. What ever happen to the coach of that team?

Thanks for posting that 50, that's really interesting to hear. So you actually had a lot of contact with him. I figured the guy to be a very upbeat and positive person, with the amount of adversity he'd been through BEFORE this injury. Not to mention he's a Libra too, so he has to have personality! :p
Incidentally, there was some wondering going on earlier in this thread about his rookie year stats, and they were indeed good, he had 48 catches for about 700 yards and 6 touchdowns I believe. I know that he set the Chiefs rookie receiver receptions record.

Terrible news about Morris. He certainly did have potential, but I think this may have been his last shot.
On a side note, Morris is the guy we almost certainly we would have picked had we not made the Galloway trade.
