What the heck is wrong with using a first round pick on a QB?
It seems like the attitude is not to waste a first round pick on a QB. Dallas has continue to pass on QB's that they could have got in the last couple of drafts alone. We could be sitting here with Byron*Leftwich, Ben Roethlisberger, or Aaron Rodgers right now and the QB problem would be answered. Everything I saw about Aaron Rodgers is that he looks very good and Green Bay cant believe a top 10 talent fell that far.
It just makes me mad that freaking Green Bay is smart enough to draft a QB even though they know it doesn't help them win now but they are safe when Brett steps down.
Why is Dallas trying to get a QB on the cheap? 2nd round reach for Carter, Grab Chad, Now Henson. Just draft a freaking guy when you have the chance!
You don't pick 2 DL in the first round with the QB mess this team has been in since Troy Aikman retired.
This past draft would have been a prefect time to get a QB ( Aaron Rodgers) and Dallas still could have landed one of those DL.
After hearing the problems with QB so far in camp I change my mind on this years draft and give it a F-
The rest of the players don't mean much if you don't get the QB spot taking care of first.
lol you are already proclaiming Aaron Rodgers as a good quarterback. That's unbelievable....We should get this board the "Jump To Conclusion" mat from Office Space....The leaps of logic here are just downright insane...

And we'd need a CB...to replace Newman by drafting Leftwich, a RB, DE, OG and TE...to replace Jones, Spears, Peterman, and Ryan which is what we'd have lost to get Roethlisberger, and Spears again to get a completely unproven Rodgers.
Hind sight is great, and this get my nod for silliest post of the month.

Leftwich has been average at best and looked totally hopeless last weekend...Rodgers has been absolutely awful in GB so far and doesnt even remotely resemble an NFL calibar QB
I'm much mroe happy to have Ware and Spears than the mediocre Rodgers, who I think is going to be a monumental bust...we had no chance to draft Ben Roesthlisberger, so I have no idea why you are crying about that

This past draft was one of the weakest QB drafts in years.

I have no problem with us going with a QB in the first round, sure beats the cute way we've gotten the last three QBs of the future. For our sake I hope Henson proves guys like me wrong and has a solid career for us. Otherwise I hope Jerry follows a simple rule "No more failed baseball players!"
But speaking of Rogers, would you prefer we take him over Ware/Spears? I like Rogers but not sure if I would have taken him over the two.

Curious, what QB problems have you been hearing about? I don't get that impression whatsoever.
According to Parcells, Bledsoe is doing fine.
Romo is having a solid camp most likely solidifying the # 2 spot.
Henson has looked sharp since the Arizona game.

Smart teams don't bring in a rookie to start when the players around him suck unless that QB is something very special. You'd do it if a guy was a consensus #1 pick like Mike Vick or a Troy Aikman but otherwise why ruin the kid?

I agree.
There is not a single QB from this past draft that looks to be anything as of yet.
Ben Roethlisberger was one of the worst things to happen to the league. Now everyone can play armchair GM and suggest that all you have to do is pick up a QB in the first round. It is not that easy. Luck and circumstance play in to it as well.
On the other hand, we have been playing around with second round reaches and ex-baseball players. It might be time.

I wouldnt feel any better with any of those than what we have.Leftwitch is average at best .Big Ben on another team not so prolific I'm sure and Aaron Rogers is no more a bonifide NFL qb than anyone we have.Any of those without what we aquired since Leftwitch and we are worse off than we are now.

Q.Carter was a 2nd rounder.

Vinny and Drew both 1st rounders.
You make it seem as though we sign everyone else worst qb's

Leftwich might turn out to be a good qb, but so far I don't think he has done enough to sit and regret not drafting HIM.

Yea didn't u hear? our qb's had one bad PRE SEASON game and now we failed in the draft.
How can you call urself a dallas fan yet no NOTHING about the team? Ware was the best pass rusher in the draft, Burnett and Spears are both huge pieces of the 3-4 we NEEDED if we planned to run it. Regardless of what happened at the QB situation, if were running a 3-4 we HAD to draft the guys we did.

Somebody please explain to this guy that we never had a shot at Ben R.
Leftwich hasn't done a thing and their O is close to last in every passing category.
Ware and Spears were flat-out rated higher than Rodgers.
Only reason he was ever considered a top pick is because he went to Cal and Niners had the first pick.
Period.
Back to sleep.

I'm still trying to figure out what an F- is. I didn't know there was a grading system that included F-, F and F+.
I guess if you really suck, but not as bad as the really, really, really sucky guy, you get an F+.
This grading system makes about as much sense as Rodgers being the golden child.

Not to mention the butterfly effect.
We draft Leftwich, we now have a huge hole at CB and more cap tied up. Our draft needs change the next year, we may not make the trade, and if we do we don't have the cap to sign the free agents that we did this year.
We trade up to get Roethlisberger, that takes care of the trade, we may not get Jones with our second, Rogers, Peterman and Ryan don't get drafted, and we don't get Spears this year.
Rodgers does not even need a break down is so silly.

Great Movie !
BTW: They shot that film down the road from where I work. The fax machine that they hammered in that one scene was actually given to them by my current employer :)

Anything can happen from the draft to Sept... Henson was scouted by several teams as a top 5 pick (had he stayed in college and not gone the baseball route) Who knows what we have until he actually plays a couple of games and finishes them... I just dunno.

I still think our best bet was 3 years ago... all we had to do was move up 4 picks and we could have Carson Palmer... not sure what it would have cost but it would have been worth it.

We had to have WARE, but I'd take a QB over Spears any day. If we were still playing the 4-3, we'd have never drafted him...no 4-3 team was interested by all accounts because he's mainly a run stuffer without much pass rush.
However, my guess is the Cowboys didn't rate the QB that highly...I think if they'd had Rogers rated higher than Spears on their board, they'd have taken him, or at least I hope they would have.
It's nice to have all these D-linemen, and it's nice to have a great CB like Newman, but right now I'd settle for FA Corners like Shaun Springs and Anthony Henry and sticking with the 4-3 with Ware as our right DE in training if we simply had a QB we were really confident in.
It's not over yet though....in the next 2 years we'll address the WR's and the QB position unless Henson steps it up. You can't do everything in one or two years.

The good news is that in a couple of more years there won't be anymore QB's in the league that used to play under Parcells..
Unless he decides to take another stab at Q
