OMG, Trade for Indys' Vandercrap! They drafted an awsome Kicker this year and Manning hates the guy.
I'd give a 5th for him.

I like Cortez. His kicks are consistently pretty deep. Didnt he have 2 touchbacks tonight? He was spot on w/ his field goal attempts to. I dont mind him taking the place of Cundiff. Billy was so so but I hated his kick-offs. This guy Cortez seems to have more of a leg. He just needs reps kicking the field goals. Getting that down and I think we are set at kicker.
Sorry to hear Billy is hurt and out that length of time. He is/was a good lil kicker for us.
Get well Billy Boy...

Uggghh. Probably seals his fate. Hats off to Cortez for his performance tonight, but his track record speaks for itself IMO. I'm not happy at all with him as our kicker.
8-18 for career between 40-49 yards.
5 teams in six seasons.
UGGGHHH.......

NFL Network just stated: Look for the Cowboys to reach an injury settlement w/ Condiff and release him, so that he will be free to sign with another team once he gets healthy. They also said Cortz has a strong leg but is not accurate so Dallas will bring in another kicker closer to the end of preseason.

Cortez is a head case waiting to happen but he has good leg strength.

Cortez is fine.
In fact, I feel better going into the season with him than I did with Cundiff.

Why? Just curious.

Because he doesnt seem nervous when hes setting up for a kick.
I really wanted Cundiff to be that reliable kicker that you knew you could count on.
With him, you just never knew what you were getting.
Consistency is key with the kicker, and I just never felt it with Cundiff.

Track record bothers me. Not much consistency there. Hopefully he does well, but I have my doubts.

I like cundiff. I think he is a pretty good kicker. And who can forget that night against the giants? He did great in that game including that clutch 52 yarder or so at the end of regulation.

After the final round of cuts are made there will be some kickers looking for jobs. I'd bring them all in as everyone knows we will be looking for one. Who wouldn't want to be a kicker for the Dallas Cowboys?

Cundiff is gone and he isnt that bad. Sad but true. Cortez is a little more reliable. I would be on board fro Vanderjagt but not for a 5th... Conditional 6th or 7th maybe but not a 5th.

You'd be hard pressed to find a more consistent kicker than Cundiff when he is kicking within 40 yards.
In his career Cundiff has made 92% of his kicks within 30 yards.
Cortez has only made 84% of his within 40 yards.
Cundiff has made 55% of his kicks beyond 40 yards. Cortez has made only 47% of his.
Cortez has a 22.9 average return on his kickoffs. Cundiff has a 19 yard average.
Additionally, Cortez has kicked 4 onside kicks and none have been recoverd. Cundiff has kicked 3 onside kicks and 2 of them have been recovered.
Cortez is definitely a downground. I hope Cundiff comes back and if he doesn't then we need to get a better kicker than Cortez.

Vanderjagt is a pipe dream. We would be lucky if we could get him for a 5th.
