I'm trying not to "drink the Kool-aid " But this guy catches everything thrown
his way. Whatever "it" is, He's got it.I love seeing young guys develop into players. The future looks bright for the Cowboys. Ware, MB111, Julius, Burnett, Crayton, Beriult, Pettiti, Canty, Spears,Ratliff, too many young players to name. all are keepers.

I agree and was very high on him at the end of last season which is why I was not overly disappointed when we did not draft a WR. Crayton in my book is the real deal and I think will only get better.

Well first I'll make the disclaimer because I'm sure some here will take my comments to the extreme, while they aren't meant as a direct comparison talent wise or career wise. They are just my opinion as I watch Crayton play.
When I see the way Crayton runs very precise routes, catches the ball especially in traffic, the way he fights for extra yardage, the way he breaks tackles and even the way he grips the ball in one hand. It really reminds me more of Micheal Irvin than anyone else.
Now I'm not saying I think he will ever be the receiver that Irvin was, what I am saying is the similarities are there. If he continues to improve he could be quite a player.
What I find most encouraging is finally our draft selections are turning out as players, man that is a very good sign as to the future of the Cowboys, Now I would never give up on my Boys but the last 10 years have been as challenging as any decade in Cowboy history. And I've seen them all........

I said in another thread last night, his style (body lean, way he wears his helmet, etc.) reminds me of Tony Hill, but his hands remind me of a young Jerry Rice and I'm not kidding.
Remember the stories of Rice's dad being a brick mason and Rice having strong hands by working with his dad? That's exactly what I thought when I watched Crayton snag everything in sight! I really love his potential!!

I mentioned he looked like Tony Hill as well. That's interesting that at least two people see it. But I don't put too much stock in that. I am excited about him as I don't think we will lose too much if Glenn goes down. Not saying he's as good as Glenn. I don't think that now. But I don't think the team will suffer as much if Glenn goes down. I would still be upset as there is a drop off after number three. I would like to see more of the other guys now.

Yeah Tony Hill was a very good and fluid receiver, however; he was more a finesse, speed type player. To me Crayton is smooth but he can also be very physical.
And yes Jerry Rice worked as a bricklayer with his father, but don't forget Irvin worked with his father as a roofer. Believe me roofing will strengthen the hands as well, but I agree Crayton has very strong hands and good hand eye coordination. He has the potential to be a very good player.

He reminds me more of Drew Pearson. Smooth, not fast, good routes, with a knack for making the important plays. For instance 3rd and 7th's.

I was impressed with Crayton too. He just plucks the ball out of the air so effortlessly.
He'll be a star in this league within two years.
So much for clamoring about taking a receiver in the first round.

he reminds me of..Pearson.
Wasn't Pearson a former QB also..? in high school or part of college..?

Actually Patrick Crayton reminds me of a stockier version of....keyshawn johnson. Knows how to find open spots as he was the only receiver that caught balls from all 3 quaterbacks. He fights for more yards after the catch and as you know, Keyshawn has really great hands and Parcells said Crayton has the best hands on the team.
Also, another guy comes to mind.......Chris Carter

Maybe the fact that we traded away Bryant and only got no hands Morgan was a blessing in disguise, because we may not have gotten a chance to see Crayton develop into a fine player.

Crayton really did look good last night, and after seeing him and listening to some of Parcells comments about him, I think the priority need of taking a WR early, may have less importance now. I still feel we'll still take a WR at some point on the first day, but the sense of need may be less now with the ongoing development of Crayton.

Let's not annoint him a pro-bowler just yet. Just in the last two days, he has drawn comparisons to Irvin, Key and now Hines Ward. I like the kid, but it's just pre-season.

I'm tired of seeing who Crayton reminds everyone of. Crayton reminds me of Crayton, the same rookie I saw owning in TC last season, the same physically gifted receiver who filled in for an injured Glenn at the end of last season, and the same freak of an athlete that is quickly working his way up the depth chart.
Crayton is so fun to watch.

We aren't saying he will rise to the level of those guys...yet.
We are just saying who (the way he looks),reminds us of.

I thought last year he should've gotten all the playing time that Quincy Morgan bust demanded.
He'd be a good #2 behind Keyshawn. Push Glenn down to 3rd to preserve his fragile body a few more games. Not to mention what kind of a threat Glenn would be coming off the bench with fresh legs- the guy would be a terror.
A young guy needs to crack that top 2 soon. Preferrably before one of them goes down too.

I don't see a problem with saying he reminds us a little of Tony Hill or XXX. We aren't saying he's even that good much less as good as Irvin or Pearson. It's just the way he looks and runs. He is a very smooth and fluid athlete.
Nobody is annointing him anything yet except I will say he is now our number three WR. But thank goodness we have him as there currently is no one I trust behind them.
Look for Merritt to get more playing time. I think Rector may get more shots at PR.

When I was watching last night, I thought of Drew Pearson, too.
He has the body of a young Tony Hill, but there's something about the way he plants his feet and snatches the ball that reminds me of Drew. Plus, the smoothness factor.

That's because you're too young to remember Drew, Tony, etc.
:laugh2:
Let us old guys try to relive the glory through this kid.

He does use his hands like Pearson. Would be nice to package Hill's speed and smoothness with Pearson's hands and ability to just get the ball somehow. I could live with that. And yes we old guys are always looking for the next Hill, Pearson, Lilly, White....
Crayton looks better than good. All he needs to do is keep it up for the next 8-12 years.

I know I couldn't put in the ' as for what ever reason the font I used doesnt have a ' in you're. But I fixed that with a * instead but had forgotten to upload it till you reminded me.
Oh and thanks, I thought I needed a small break from the paper background one I had before. That and it used to much badwidth and Imageshack stopped my hotlink.

Comparisons aside (and I still say a young Keyshawn), one thing's for sure, QM's stock
dropped like it was 1929 last night.

There's no way you can say that with Keyshawn and Glenn both stepping out the door in the next couple of years the WR position isn't going to be horribly weak pretty soon. The Cowboys still need to draft a wide out high in next years' draft... hell, the regular season hasn't even started yet.

ANALYSIS
Positives: Has a well-developed frame, with good upper body muscle tone, long legs and knotted calves … Natural hands catcher who will compete for the ball in traffic and displays the juking moves and hip snap needed to make the initial tackler miss … Has good field vision and uses his blocks well to gain extra yardage on returns … Has an explosive burst through the seams and keeps pressure on the defensive backs with his open-field acceleration … Has a sharp burst coming out of his breaks … Has soft hands and a good feel for the crease … Adjusts smoothly to the ball in flight and shows good body control and balance … Willing blocker who will not hesitate to face up as a cut blocker.
Negatives: Still learning how to vary his speed so he doesn't overrun on his routes … Tends to bring the ball into his body rather than extending for it in the short areas … Gets a little undisciplined in his route running and must show more crispness in his patterns … Has the explosive leg drive to escape contact upfield, but sometimes will try to overpower the defender rather than elude the opponent.
Seems he has drastically improved on the negatives :)
