Let's let he, Tucker, and Vollers battle it out. Hopefully at least one of the three shows to be clearly superior. Anyone watch the guy play much?

Rogers will be the starter come opening day. Look for Tucker to replace Allen at guard if he is traded or cut.
I feel pretty fortunate to grab the 3rd tackle off the board with the 53rd pick.
He was a LT for USC, should be able to easily shift over to RT. This was a solid move.
Looks like we upgraded at 2 positions and nabbed two starters. Starting to feel a little better about this draft.
If we can trade up somehow, there are some good Cbs still left and DTs.

That's what I was thinking as well with possibly moving Tucker to Guard.
Rogers is a solid pick for us.

nflfans.com had him rated as the 12th best tackle
Jacob Rogers (http://www.nflfans.com/draft/2004/showplayer.php?key=Jacob%20Rogers)
he has a poor injury history and that's what has kept him down apparantly he is a very good player when he's on the field

Umm, he would have been a good LT due to his pass blocking but he's not very good at run blocking and he will be our RT. Yet another wonderful move by Parcells & Co. today.

Yeah, that would work if he was good in run blocking... too bad that's not the case.

Sporting News has Rogers as the third rated tackle behind Gallery and Andrews. I would have prefered the kid from Purdue, but this is a solid selection in my opinion. The guy comes from a big time school in USC.

Rogers will be a steal. He isnt fat and doesnt lean on guys like Carey and Andrews but those guys may end up hurt and lazy a la LA. Rogers will just get bigger and stronger. He could be the eventual LT as Flo switches to RT when he loses some lateral quickness.

Another nice pickup. Very smart draft thusfar, despite the opinion of the numerous chicken littles here

Jacob Rogers, OT, Southern California
Height: 6:05.4 Weight: 305
Overview: One of the nation's top offensive tackles, starting for his third season on the left side as a senior in 2003...Coming from a tight end background, his strength is his footwork, as his forte has been staying in front of the defenders to protect the quarterback..."I get a lot of speed rushers on my side," Jacob said. "It's challenging, but I accept that challenge and I like it. It's important to stick to your fundamentals or they will get around the edge on you. You just have to go out there and have the attitude that you are going to beat the guy across from you on every play. He's going to have that attitude against you, so it's just a matter of who's going to do it. It's his job to beat you and your job to beat him."...A student of the game, he spends countless hours reviewing film and preparing for his upcoming opponent...A fine all-around athlete, he was also a standout punter during his prep days. "I kind of miss punting," he said. Every once in a while, I mess around with it. It's something that's hard to do after putting on all the weight that I have. My first spring here I was able to punt pretty well. Then I put on 30 pounds and it just wasn't the same."
Analysis: Positives...Has a developing frame that could add at least another twenty pounds of bulk with no lose in speed...Shows good quickness, agility and balance...Maintains body control on the move, showing a fluid change of direction...Gets quick movement coming out of his stance...Delivers good pop upon contact, showing the ability to chip and hit his assignment while playing under control working in space...Uses his long arms well to get leverage and keep position advantage to finish his blocks...Not a mauler, but knows how to gain position and push the defender away from the play as a drive blocker...Effective trap blocker who has the ability to move out and down the line of scrimmage to lead on sweeps and pulls...Works well with the offensive guard to get to the cut off point in the second level...Will set up quickly, cut off, angle block and wall off the edge rusher with consistency in pass protection...Has enough functional speed to mirror the edge rushers, keeping his hands active to punch and lock out...Has the foot agility to move and adjust working down the line and shows the kick slide to work back and redirect.
Negatives...Shows inconsistent intensity and effort (will do enough to get the job done)... Has exceptional skills and the power to dominate, but prefers to out-finesse his opponent rather than maul him (needs to show more aggression in his play)...Has all the tools you want in a quality left tackle, but needs to work on his up-&-down intensity (has the potential to be one of the best left tackles in the game, if he can develop a "search & destroy" nature)...History of shoulder injuries needs further medical evaluation.
Agility tests: 5.3 in the 40-yard dash...405-pound bench press...500-pound squat...330-pound power clean...26.5-inch vertical jump...32 -inch arm length...10-inch hands...Right-handed... 22/40 Wonderlic score.
High school: Attended Oxnard (Cal.) High...1998 Super Prep All-American, Super Prep All-Farwest, Long Beach Press-Telegram Best of the West first team, Orange Country Register Fab 15 second-team, Tacoma News Tribune Western 100 and Las Vegas Sun Super 11 honorable mention as a senior...In 1998, he had 39 receptions for 412 yards (10.6 avg) and 4 touch-downs, despite missing the last four games of the season with a separated shoulder...He also played defensive end, linebacker and punter (he averaged more than 40 yards per punt)...As a 1997 junior, he caught 17 passes for 201 yards (11.8 avg) and 5 scores...In his career, he had 62 catches for 712 yards (11.5 avg)...Played quarterback as a 1995 fresh-man...Also played basketball at Oxnard, averaging 10 rebounds a game...Current Trojan Bobby Otani also prepped at Oxnard.
Personal: Public Policy and Management major...Born 8/17/81...Resides in Oxnard, California.

Well yeah, Butler is the superior run blocker.

Just because he wasn'tr listed as a mauler, he isn't a good run blocker? Thats not what I read...Seems like he is a VERY good pick, smart, studies, strong...Just slipped due to injury concerns...

USC alum here - watched him play. He's a good, solid lineman, great technique. He was definitely the best player on the line this year, and it was a really good line.
He's a great pick for where we got him. He's not a mauler, but he has the potential to be one. The only real concern I have is with the injuries.
