View Full Version : Who’s this year's Achilles tendon?

This isn't intended to be a buzz-kill post, more an exercise in viewing our depth. We’ve had the unfortunate recent history where the high expectations of many (deserving or not) for our Cowboys in the upcoming season were dashed by a key injury that had an unforeseen devastating affect.

Last year I see our Achilles tendon injury as Woodson. The year before that, I think, was Terry Glenn.

Are we as venerable this year or has our depth grown to where the show, w/o skipping a beat, still goes on?

Of course Drew staying healthy is the obvious choice but I'm struggling to find another playing/position that weighs so heavy.

Bledsoe followed by Adams then Petitti. Glenn up there too although Price would take some of that sting away if he is signed.

:hammer:
If Bledsoe or one of the offensive linemen goes down we'll have to get outside help for the offense not to fall apart. Volek or Vinnymight be an option, don't know about any good left tackles out there though

Roy Williams

Roy WIlliams has never been injured, even in college.

I'd say Julius Jones ofcorse and believe that is Bills greatest concern also because he has the job that takes the most contact every game.

After that....Terry Glenn.... Price would have been nice insurance.

Something tells me Bill actually likes Romo an awful lot.

I know of one on the Team. Kurt Vollers is a LT starter waiting to happen.

Thing is, we really haven't had serious QB injury issues since 2000, 2001.. Bledsoe is less injury prone as well.. Either Bledsoe gets this team into the playoffs, or he has failed. Pretty simple. If Jones gets injury or has a down year, we understand that. If Keyshawn or Terry get injured or have a down year, we accept that. If we have problems with the O-line, like we have for the last 6 years, we realize that, especially with Rivera having a pre-existing injury and Pettiti being a rookie.

But if this Drew Bledsoe guy doesn't get us there, is curtains for him.. See Randall Cunningham, Anthony Wright, Tony Banks, Quincy Carter, Chad Hutchinson, Clint Stoerner, Ryan Leaf, Vinny Testaverde.. and probably Drew Henson.

Don't believe that. Roy was definitely injured during the 10-6 season. About halfway through he started walking around with his right arm held low the way emmit used to after his should was hurt. Roy def. had a shoulder problem that year, yes he played, but he wasn't the same after that.

Interesting question when I tried to think this one through. The first question becomes "Does Romo have what it takes?" Based upon his actual experience in games that count who can know? I have to go with Bledsoe being the guy we can least afford to lose.

If we give Mr. Romo a huge pass, then I think previous experience tells us Terry Glenn is the logical next guy. We certainly had large problems without him. It makes the Peerless Price deal look better and better.

Finally, Roy Williams is the logical guy on defense. Our depth at safety is nonexistent. We're going to have trouble as it is.
