He was well worth all that money we paid him. He had an amazing game... what was it like 12 tackles, 5 breakups and a pick. I don't know how many times I saw him knock the ball out of the receivers hands today. The only bad thing i saw was that 4th and long. I think he should have made a play on that ball, and at least knock it down. But he is a stud.

I was very happy with Henry play this evening, it is damn nice having a CB opposite of Newman. I agree the only bad I saw with Henry was the 4th and 14 but as Arron Gleen said those things are going to happen in the NFL, bottom line CB need short memories and just pick yourself up and move on to the next play and he did with a great break up of a pass on that same drive in the endzone.

Oh...let me clarify.
Henry>Crayton or = Bledsoe who is <= to Aikman. That said, Tuesdays are Sundaes at Carvel > HagenDaz < Ben and Jerrys.
Finally, I didn't say I didn't say it what I said was that I didn't say that I said it. I'd like to make that perfectly clear.

Great game today...best part was, we didn't play great...new defense...new contributors on offense..on the road...against a good team...and we walked away with a win...
That last stand was super...a game like this going either way, can actually have a pretty strong impact on the season.

Henry played great today. He looked like the best player on defense. Very agressive. I'm wondering now about those folks who said this was a horrible signing this offseason?

Henry is a beast
I'm curious. Did anyone catch Fred Smoot today? How'd he look up in Minnesota?
As for Henry, his performance today was the best I've seen at cornerback since Deion was here. He impressed me in every which way. He's a presence against the run, looks back for the ball and is physical with receivers.

Henry's performance was something that we haven't seen in a LONG LONG time. Yep, Sanders was a great CB...maybe the best ever.
But this was a physical performance. Henry is a tough CB. Great to see. I really can't remember the last Dallas CB who was any near as physical.
A couple people pointed out the long 4th down play then henry gave up but it looked to me like he was also trying to be careful not to draw a flag. the receiver had position on the ball, all Henry could do was jump and try to strip it after the receiver touched it or it would have been PI.
Anyway, he was awesome today. they attacked him again and again and he just kept making plays. He may end up being my favorite cowboy this year.

Yep!!! Also as I mentioned after giving up that play it was Henry who broke up a would be TD on the very next play when the Chargers had 1st and Goal
i liked the play when he slung neal to the ground like a rag doll. neal is a pretty big fella. henry had a huge game. what a sweet victory this was.

Just think... This is the first game too... Dallas will only continue to get better... Ware will definately get his share of huge game changing plays later this year... He and the rest of our DL went up against a huge offensive line at SD. This defense held LT... who's looking for 2200 yds to a little old 70 yard game...
Accurate QB play, strong running game, ferocious defense, AND improving kickoff coverage on special teams... I can't wait for next week...
Let's go!!!

I told you guys you're gonna love Henry. I've had the pleasure of watching play for the Browns the past 4 years, and the guy is just a flat out football player. He came in his rookie year as a FS & had 10 picks, and was all over the place. That's why I suggested earlier that if Davis didn't make it at FS, we could move Glenn over to Henry's spot, & put him at FS. It gives him a much better opportunity to ballhawk.
Thankfully, we can keep him where he is & feel much better about sending blitz packages.
One big problem we had last year that hopefully will no longer plague us is the big run after missed tackles. Henry will stick his hat right into the gut, and drive his man into the ground. Can't wait to watch him on MNF.

Speaking of Davis. I didnt see jack out of him today. I dont know if thats good or bad. He certainly wasnt out there hitting people. He still worries me. I just feel we are still far from solidifying the FS position here in Dallas.

I channel-hopped and saw Smoot pick off one pass that was horribly overthrown by 10-15 yards so all he had to do was catch it as it came right to him.

Henry was awesome, clearly the best CB performance I've seen in Dallas since Ryan McNeil. Henry made the extra effort that separate the excellent CB's from the rest. Fantastic game.

I agree with the comparison ravidubey. McNeil had an excellent 1 season tenure with us that only ended due to the salary cap. McNeil and Henry's body types are eerily similar, and Henry is younger than McNeil was when he was with us to boot.

Davis put a Madden video game-like slam on McCardell on the 3rd and goal at the end of the game. I thought McCardell was going to stay down after that play.

You're right. This guy is extremely physical, and I think we should blitz more because of it.
And you all may think that Newman's game was okay, but there was a reason they kept going to Henry's side - Newman had his man blanketed most of the game, although he did give up a few.
All we can ask of our corners are to not give up big plays all game. You're going to give up plays, but don't keep giving them up all game long like last year.

The McNeil comparison is a good one, although Henry appears to be a more dynamic presence out there. Henry was awesome all day.
My only concern is he does tend to sit on underneath routes. I remember all of the Browns' CBs doing a lot of this during the Browns-Boys game last season, so I'm guessing that's a product of Todd Bowles' coaching. It's all well and good when it works but it does leave you susceptible to double-moves down the field.
Again, Henry was great all day. He got his hands on more passes than any Dallas CB I can remember - even Deion. I dont think Deion had enough opportunities during one ballgame to break up 5 passes because teams didn't throw at him.
If Newman can raise his level of play to match his physical talent on a more consistent basis, our pass defense will be stout. We already know Glenn will be above average as a nickel CB.
I was really impressed with the way Henry kept himself in position to make plays. the way he deflected passes just by getting his hand in there at the right time, you didnt see him bumping into guys or tugging at them while trying to jockey for position- you know, the kind of questionable stuff thats gonna draw flags.

Anthony Henry - Pride of the University of South Florida...GO BULLS!
What a great game for Anthony. He has very good instincts also...especially on the first down and goal pass that he knocked away.
3-4 needs physical corners - he looked real good

How bout the play on the fade... 1st and goal @ the end? How many times have we seen our corners get beat on the fade stop... Henry made a perfectly timed deflection. Henry and Glenn looked all world on that last series. Considering our new pieces going up against a polished playoff team in their house.. this has got to be encouraging!

Excellent point from someone who clearly knows what to look at in CB play. Newman did give up a few -- but all CBs do. I saw Chris McCallister (who I think is the best CB in the league) get beat a few times last night too.
Also a factor in Henry's stellar play was the pass rush - if Brees gets more time to deliver balls (or thinks he has more time) the receiver has more opportunity to shed Henry. The rush forced throws when Henry was in good position.

I saw Newman beat a few times, the passes were overthrown, also we do not know that the coverages were not rolled over to help Newman more than Henry needing help.
Newman played okay, but Henry had a monster game. (I'm not bashing Tnew). I'm thowing out some possibles. Newman could have been giving his man his usual 10yd cushion, or it could have been that there were no throwing lanes for Brees when he looked to that side, and he had the lanes on the other side or he could have been trying to get Henry because Henry was setting down on those routes and they were trying to set Henry up for a double move, you never know what the real deal was, it is not always the obvious, like Newman blanketing his man.
The first TD was it Newman who got beat? I do remember that Newman was beat real bad by McCardell on one play.
I'm estatic that we won. Defense made mistakes but they played good.
Once again just stating some possible things that may make it seem like Newman had his man Blanketed all day.
Every corner gets beat, that is true. I do not think anyone can knock Henry's play, other than the 33yarder, but that is nothing new to us we have seen that kind of thing done for the past 3, 4 yrs, but the difference is the other team did not get a TD after that kind of play.

But not only that, but the guy has soft hands...He almost picked another one...
With Todd Bowles coaching the D and our pass rush getting better, I can see many more picks in the future!

Anthony Henry could be the best member of the secondary and yes that includes Roy Williams.
Newman scares the bezzesus out of me. On paper he looked good, but if you watched the game, he just seemed to be out of position and getting turned around.
I think San Diego could have increased their chances of winning if they didnt throw at Henry so much and more toward Newman's side.

I looked up his stats they have him listed as 5 Pass Deflections. I can only hope his play continues at this leve all season. Its nice to see very solid play from our corners for once. I like to see them always supporting each other they seem to have very very good chemsitry. I like our D this year with all the mistakes we made we still held a VERY good offense and kept us in the game. Im very excited about this upcomming year.

Henry is definitely a superior player, and a great fit for our 3-4 schemes in that our pass rush will provide more opportunities for a physical CB to make plays. but really, RW is our best defensive player, or if not him Glover.
Newman is a nice complement to Henry - faster and quicker yet still a physical player who supports well against the run. he played a solid game, and there's a reason he didn't get tested often - you don't know what that reason is but the coaches do. newman will be a Cowboy for many years...
