I agree, we got to hold on to Price for depth...

Yeah -- and then no free agent will ever want to come here again. You can't sign someone and then immediately trade him - we spend all this time wooing him and then send him packing? It would make us look like liars. What player would want to sign somewhere, pack up their family, etc. and then get sent packing a couple weeks later?

I think he's suggesting that you trade him for a draft pick(s) but I agree that wouldn't be a good idea. If Key or Glenn go down, we need Peerless. That's not all that out of the ordinary since Glenn has an injury history, and anything can happen, like Keyshawn's injury in Week 17 last year. It may not seem like we need Price right now, but he can do nothing but help the team, however little help he may be, and if someone goes down, he's a much better candidate to step in than Terrence Copper.

i dont know about the wooing part, but thats a good point to. I've ahd enough of the rookie Merriman crying to us, we dont need an actaully vet doing it to.

I'd trade Glenn first. He used to be a Packer. That would work. We all know Glenn will be hurt eventually anyway. History shows. Keep Price.

Price isn't going anywhere! He was brought here for insurance and he will remain here and contribute. Besides, why would a team hoping to make the playoffs THIS year want to get rid of a playmaker and weaken it's depth?

Not no but Hell no.
First time in a looooong time we have had too much depth, we paid him to play he will play. I don't know what that means for who sits now but he is gonna get in.

I really cant comprehend why you would even think something like this. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever! It wouldnt benifit our team in the least, not to mention, it would hurt us really bad should the slightest thing go wrong w/Key or Glenn. Wow, i cant believe you even had the though. I cant really describe the feeling I got when I saw the title, I was hoping it was a joke...............
That injury to J Walker is exactly why we keep Price for depth.

everyone is ganging up on this guy. Listen he may be wrong (I dont agree with him) and his opinion may be rash but to say "makes absolutely no sense whatsoever" and "i cant believe you even had the thought" and "I really cant describe the feeling I got when I saw the title" is emtional hyperbole and just as rash. It makes a modicum of sense if you think about it.
Crayton looked amazing during preseason (hands, rac and routes) and seems to have not missed a beat in game 1. That gives us three solid starter types and Copper. Price may be more of a name than a talent we don't reall know yet. If someone was going to offer us a 3 or a 2 for him wouldnt you even think about it? And dont forget before you jump on me I dont agree we should trade him I am just saying give the original poster a break it wasnt that ridiculous.

However, Copper would worry the hell out of me. We do not need to trade Price; he is potentially far too valuable to us this year.

Would someone please delete this thread. People should realize that anything and everything can happen next year. The intent is to try and win this year, not see how many draft choices you can accumulate.

TRADE PEERLESS PRICE TO GREEN BAY!!!!!!!!!
They are gonna be desperate!!!
This is pretty temping actually. At this point Price is depth, which is good, but remember Price signed a ONE YEAR CONTRACT. He is gone after this season, unless we dig deep in our pockets. Price is arguably a #2 receiver only, not a #1.
If you are Parcells and think that losing any one of the three (Key, Glenn, Crayton) costs you a Super Bowl run THIS year then keep Price. The Cowboys were willing to go it without another receiver initially this year. It is plausible that Price will see limited field time this year, platooning, which COULD cut down on Crayton's catches. I think that is BAD, because I think Crayton at this point is better than Price.
Before you start ranting about what a lunatic I am think about this. We would be giving up something (depth and insurance) but what might we gain in exchange? We might get a 1st Rounder for Price (maybe giving up a lower round pick) or we might get a 2 plus a lower round pick. A 1st or 2nd rounder would be here at least 4 years and keep our cap healthy. Remember, Roy Williams, T. Newman and Witten are going to be becoming free agents in the next couple of years.
I am probably more optimistic than most, or possibly insane (13 & 3 prediction) but never say NEVER. See what Green Bay is willing to offer. Many hated to see us trade down last year, but we have Julius Jones and Spears to show for that trade. The H. Walker Trade in the early 90's got us 3 Super Bowls. Keep an open mind. That being said, unless we get "GREAT" value in a trade, keep Price for our Super Bowl run this year. LOL.

How are we going to get a FIRST (KEYWORD) round pick for someone who hasn't done anything the past two years?
Depth is EVERYTHING.

Green Bay probably wont give up a 1st rounder, but unless we RAPE them in a trade we stand pat. We have the supply, Green Bay has the need (demand). We set the price, they can choose to pay or not. Isn't having depth a great thing to have? See why the Patriots have been so good for so long?

It isn't about whether you could get a #2 for him or not -- it is about how it would make other free agents not want to come here -- how is any FA going to believe what we are selling them if we trade a guy we fought to sign just a week ago?
some of you think so small. simple X for Y, failing to realize that there is so much more involved.
