...but I want to rub it in.
Washington is clearly struggling with all that is going on. QB controversies, injuries, and general turmoil.
We've all smiled from ear to ear thinking about this.
I was just imagining what they will do if they end up with the overall #1 pick as the worst team in the NFL. That's when it dawned on me. They can't do anything because they traded away the pick for Jason Campbell who started this season as #3 but will be their guy by year's end.
Warms my heart. Wish it was Philly.

Right TH, not that we want to rub it in, but if you don't larf yourself silly reading the threads at Extremeskins these days, you are missing one of the true pleasures of life.
To see polls like: "Gibbs vs Ramsey" actually close is a treat. Like Patrick Ramsey, who has had four years to prove himself and hasn't, somehow has more value than Joe Gibbs. Gibbs is being called every name in the book, and why? Because the man KNOWS QUARTERBACKS.
The fact Gibbs drafted a QB in the first round and actually traded up to get him apparently meant nothing to some fans. But the man who won 3 SBs with three different QBs can, imo, at least be trusted to know what he has behind center.
I guess what really rankles is the home-grown strong arm Ramsey will be replaced yet again by the retread noodle arm Brunell (while Campbell is made ready), but tho Brunell is half the QB he once was, he's still twice the QB Ramsey is.
Meanwhile the "lying, deceitful, back-stabbing" Joe Gibbs gets raked over for lack of character and integrity because he pulled a guy who had every op to prove he could play but didn't.
Great drama!! :)

Somehow how bad they are/aren't doesn't even register with me right now. It's Boys/Skins and everyone here knows that means you can throw out comparisons, play hard for 60 minutes and hope for the best. I expect a win but I'll be nervous until it's in the W cloumn because basically it's a home game against a division opponent which means we have to have it, especially if the skins are as bad as people think. THEN I'll be more than ready for threads like this.

And I remember a few season's back, so many were complaining that Washington was ahead of Dallas, because at least they had their QB of the future.
It just goes to show that you don't know how a player will develop. I wouldn't be surprised to see Campbell follow Ramsey as a 1st round flop.

With the amount of early 1st round QBs stinking up their respective teams lately, campbell would almost have to try to be as bad as some of those other QBs. It is really sad the lack of quality QBs that are in the league right now.

Extremeskins is indeed a riot these days. :lmao2: The I Hate The Cowboys threads are simply hilarious. Everyone needs to take LTN's advice and head on over there for some truly excellent reading. It is an awesome feeling to realize that the Cowboys are on the way up and the skins remain stuck in neutral by not having, of all things, a settled QB position. We are looking forward to taking care of business on Monday night and skin's fans are desperately hoping Brunell can pull a rabbit out of his a**.
Gibb's mistake in the Ramsey situation was to let him start the season and then pull him after only 3 series. The fact that he has no confidence in Ramsey has been apparent for some time. It is crystal clear that Gibbs has now set his face to the future. It is Brunell for now and Campbell for the future. We'll see how it goes but the degree of controversy over this move is an indicator of how serious the problems with this team are. It seems much easier in today's NFL to build a good defense than it is to build a good offense.

It is a beautiful thing, isn't it Hos? I said at the outset of the season that the Redskins might just be the worst team in football and I still stand by that. The people here who are saying how great their defense is neglect to mention that they played the worst *offensive* team in football in the Chicago Bears, with a rookie QB starting his first NFL game. This defense lost several important players and they're not as good as they were last year.
I say that the Redskins would have had a top 5 pick easy, maybe #2 or even #1. Even though they won opening day, I have them at 3-13.

Nah. Any team that can trot out Favre (old as he is) and Ahman Green can stay out of the league basement.
I don't know about that. Green Bay did nothing to improve a bad defense, lost two good starting guards and now unfortunately have lost a good young starting wide receiver. Things aren't looking that good. I guess they can benefit from a weak division.

I dunno, Hos.
When the Cowboys were mired in the second, then third of their 5-11 seasons, I'd wander over here to see what there was to chat about, and usually you guys would be eating eachother alive. I didn't really find it funny. It was actually kinda depressing to see the once mighty Cowboys so down and insignificant. Heck, towards the end we even BEAT you guys, and it got real bad.
Not that I ever want the Cowboys to succeed, don't get me wrong :) but once the fans didn't have time or eneregy or ammo to jaw with ME, well ... eh.
Of course you all hired Parcells and got all haugty again, and here I am. :)
But I never really really cared whether or not Carter was the right guy or Hutch or Leaf or whatever else the heck you all used to slap eachother around for. It has nuthin to do with me, so why should I care, ya know?
Our QB situation is still a mess, as it has been, really, since Brad Johnson left. As I've said before that's really a result of head coaching turnover. Turner liked Johnson. Schott liked George, and then didn't and liked Banks. Spurrier liked everybody, when he could remember their names.
Gibbs doesn't like Ramsey.
I don't know why. I like him. :) But Ramsey's just not Gibbs' guy. Brunell is. Campbell is. Maybe Gibbs himself is just realizing this. Maybe now our QB mess will FINALLY get resolved. Yeah, a little late. But better late than never.
However, one nice thing Gibbs HAS done with this team so far is fix just about everything else. The defense is NICE. The O-line is good. We've got a great RB and a decent backup. We've got a great young TE. The WRs are ok, but they are Gibbs guys, not over-paid name players who don't really want to be here.
Honestly, that's better than we've gotten in years here.
Does that mean we have a chance in hell of beating you guys on Monday night? Dunno. :) Stranger things have happened.
And if you DO crush us this week? Well, just remember the season is LONG. It may be tough to keep up the laughter for 17 weeks. Lots can happen during that stretch.
Anyway, keep on laughing at my expense for now. Our day will come. That's why I keep watching this crazy team.

I didn't really find it funny. It was actually kinda depressing to see the once mighty Cowboys so down and insignificant. Heck, towards the end we even BEAT you guys, and it got real bad.Henry, long time no rap with. You know what Henry, I have always found football fans to be hilarious. Very few are luke warm. It is hot or it is cold. I enjoy that about football fans. Gives me something to smile about and laugh about.
I got a buddy who is a Bears fan. Every year we make predictions on the playoffs and Super Bowl before the season starts. We always bet something on it but the truth is neither of us have ever paid up and we have no idea who is ahead any more. Saturday we talked and he tells me his NFC Super Bowl pick is the Cowboys. I'm a Cowboys fan and I'm not going there yet. His face looked like he was going to throw up for saying it.
I had to laugh. It was choking him to say it, but in his analysis of the situation that was his call. He was even funnier as he told me the woes his Bears would suffer as a result of a rookie QB. When they signed Hutch I called him and razzed him good. When Hutch got waived he told me the albatross was gone.
Taking the ribbing too seriously is just alien to me Henry. I have people tell me they hate Dallas all the time because I talk Cowboys wherever I am and football comes up. You know what I say when they tell me that? Been saying the exact same thing for years. "I have no problem with that as long as you always do."
When we were 1-15 in 1989 people asked me if I bought my Cowboys caps and shirts on sale. I'd tell them "damn right."
Not that I ever want the Cowboys to succeed, don't get me wrong :) but once the fans didn't have time or eneregy or ammo to jaw with ME, well ... eh.

Schott liked George, and then didn't and liked Banks. Spurrier liked everybody, when he could remember their names. It's a carousel. Been on that ride since Aikman left. I can relate.
But better late than never.I like Ramsey too Henry. I admire his toughness. Wouldn't want him starting for me mind you, but I like him. I like Campbell. I think you paid way TOO much for him though. He'd have been there in the 2nd for you. I'd bet on it.
However, one nice thing Gibbs HAS done with this team so far is fix just about everything else. The defense is NICE. The O-line is good. We've got a great RB and a decent backup. I also think you've got chemistry issues and a less than stable environment. Look upstairs. I think your owner needs to pull back like ours did. Gibbs is a good coach, but he walked into a mess, IMO.
Honestly, that's better than we've gotten in years here.

The biggest reason the angst is so funny is all football fans understand it, share it, and most of us indulge in it. Especially when it involves...drum roll, please, a quarterback.
Henry, I wouldn't go so far as to say we're laughing with you, not at you, but if you didn't get a few chuckles out of the Q-Hutch wars, which STILL crop up like wildfires, you missed one of the great tragicomedies in recent football history.

It all starts with the snap from center. Been saying it here for 3 years and won't ever change, a mediocre QB will make you a mediocre team more times than not. You have good players. Actually, I think the chemstry and stability issues are all but cleared up. That was my point. QB is the last piece to deal with. And as Dallas fans know that's the most complicated piece, and usually the last to fall into place. Or was Bill's master plan to cut Quincy Carter one week before the regular season last year in favor of 400 year old Vinnie Testeverde? Year Two of the Parcells regime didn't look any more together, did it?
And I think this last fiasco shows that if anything, Snyder isn't calling any shots anymore. Ramsey was HIS guy, remember? So was Coles, for that matter. I don't see Snyder's hand in any of Gibbs' decisions.
If I'm not mistaken Henry this was part of our first debate 3 years ago where we got to know and respect each other. It's where I got to know Bufford, Candy, Om, and (sigh) Art. I think right now it may be a TAD premature to declare yourself the Amazing Kreskin. You guys win a game more convincingly that we do, and that's proof that three years of predictions have come to fruition? I dunno, this overwhelming need for Dallas fans to declare victory after Week One seems a bit reactionary.
Art again. His name sure does pop up a lot around here. All I will say about him is that I know for a fact that he doesn't take things nearly as seriously as this board collectively takes him. Last time I tried to explain that someone over here called him an attention whore.
That's not a route I choose to take. I saw your team struggling for years. No need for shots. Results speak for themselves. Rubbing it in doesn't make your team worse or my team better. In fact it says nothing at all about our teams. It just says something about me.
Do I take these discussions all that seriously? Nah. But within that context I try and keep the cheap stuff to a minimum. If that's not your thing, I can live with it. You haven't chased me away yet. :)

Last time I tried to explain that someone over here called him an attention whore. It was a reference point, nothing more.
:)With me you can take that route is what I am saying. Got thick skin. Love the give and take of football.
