On ESPN Classic the today, playing for the USFL in the 80s, lead-blocking for Herschel Walker and running short yardage.

He and Walker won the game for New Jersey. Didn't know Carthon was that good back in the day. He actually looked like Richie Anderson, doing a bit of everything.

I never liked him as a player. In any league.

It is amazing to look back at the USFL and see how many players made it in the nfl after it folded.

Ahem, as a fan that went to just about every General game (I still lived in Jersey back then & had a buddy that worked in the stadium thus got tickets), I resent you calling it "back in the day," kid. :p Shoot, I actually got to go to their championship game in Tampa in '84 (mom lives in Clearwater) and NJ in '85 ...

I don't recall ANY player other than Walker, to be honest. Damn I miss summer football - ha ha.

True to tradition, I HATED Philly. Didn't matter if it was the Stars or the Eagles. Kelvin Bryant was a decent back for them though, even though I seem to recall him having injury problems. I think they had Sean Landeta as their punter at one point, too.

Who was the back that was pretty well hyped out of college that played for the Showboats, I think? Wasn't that Marcus Dupree?

How about Anthony Carter, Bobby Hebert, Reggie White, Jim Kelly just to name a few.
