View Full Version : Whatever happened to Michael Wiley

I posted this on another board... maybe someone here might know what he's doin right now

Michael Wiley used to play for us in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and suffered an injury in last year in TC or pre-season which led to his release... He's a better version of Aveion Cason, I was pissed when he got released because he didn't get to show off his talents...

But I think he is definitely good enough to make it on some NFL team, but I haven't heard of anything since..

BTW, Michael Wiley used to live down the street from me, like 7 houses away, and I didn't even know it until I seen him at the barber shop I go to. I went to his house one day(a tiny pink little house) and we had like a 20 min. conversation and he gave me an autographed rookie card and a nice framed picture. He went to the same middle school as me, same high school as me, and had the same basketball coach as me. But he moved after his rookie season to Texas obviously, and some new people moved into his old pink little house.

So I'm just a little interested in what he's doin right now...

I could be wrong, but I think he works for Mickey D's now. j/k :D

Wiley reportedly had a bad attitude, and the Tuna basically kicked him out. Your guess is as good as mine with regards to what he's up to these days.

Easy. He wouldn't return punts because he had this crazy idea he was a RB in this league.

I always thought that he would be a star 3rd down back for us, maybe just based on his nickname--"The Blur", but he never showed enough for Parcells.

Which really, in the end, is good enough for me.

Best of luck, Michael.

From a talent perspective (excluding attitude apparently) I would still put him #2 on our depth chart at RB if he were still here.

Can't say I disagree but that's not saying much for the backs we currently have on the roster.

I heard he was picked up by another NFL team last year, still did not "get it" and was released.

NFL.com doesn't have him listed so I would assume he's out of the nfl.

He was a marginal player that chose to have surgery on an injury rather then toughen it out. My understanding is trainers said he could play with some pain if he wanted to.

For a marginal player, that decision is a kiss of death.

I'm surprised Campo doesn't campaign for him in Cleveland though.

He has not played for anyone since he was released from here. I know his wife had a baby last year, so not sure how he's supporting his new family...I saw him at Pappadeaux's about a month and a half ago. He looked like he was in pretty good shape, but I doubt if he'll ever play again. Maybe he can be Jamie Foxx's stunt double, since he looks exactly like him in person...

You know it's slow, when there are two pages of responses on a question about a running back that hadn't been here in two years ;) ...

I wondered if I was the only person who thought he looked like Jamie Foxx lol

Are you making this up, man? Something tells me JBell had his iPod softly playing John Cougar Melloncamp through the headphones last night as he drifted off to sleep ....

There's a black man with a black cat livin' in a black neighborhood.
He's got an interstate runnin' through his front yard;
You know he thinks that he's got it so good.

Oh but ain't that America for you and me?
Ain't that America somethin' to see baby?
Ain't that America home of the free?
Little pink houses for you and me.

Sorry ... it's a slow day. :D

He was a 5th rounder.

Too bad he had the fumblies and couldn't catch the ball.

Might be an intriguing player for us this year.

Ah well.

He filed an injury grievance against the team after we cut him, and he won the grievance recently (which meant we had to pay him most of the salary he would have earned last season). As a result, he's costing us $136,240 against the cap this season.

I didn't know Michael Wiley had filed an injury grievance after his release.

Did that play a role in Wiley not signing on with another team after his release?

IOW, are players eligible to play for another club after filing a grievance against their old employers or must they sit out until the process is litigated?

Also, did David LaFleur's grievance get heard yet?

I know it took forever to get Kevin Smith's situation resolved and I don't remember reading about LaFleur's case ever being heard.

Funny thing about that....is that he was drafted with the idea of making him a slot WR.
