View Full Version : Blame the Players Boys...We didn't execute

We had many third downs lost because players ran their routes too short or didn't get separation once the ball was caught.

Payton called a conservative, yet winnable game.

The third down pass caught by Keyshawn....holding Flozell.

Penalties and lack of execution cost us.

Cortez missed field goal.

Williams blowing coverage.

Lack of pressure by our D-line rotation in 4th quarter (when they're supposed to be fresh)

etc...

If you pin this on Payton, you're missing the point.

That is on Payton. The running clock was our friend, Payton was stoping it.

you know sometimes people don't blow coverage they just get out played. Sucks to admit but it happens. The first TD was a great play honestly.

I'll put this loss in the Parcells/Payton column.

I put it on Aaron Glenn, he was in position both times and lost position.

You must have been watching the Saints/Giants game then. :D

Why did our D fold in the 4th quarter. I don't think that was Payton's fault.

Conservative play calling sets the tone and speed of the game. There is no excuse for some of the play calling that was happening in the third quarter. It was so bad that we were throwing away downs for the sake of not making mistakes. That to some may be playing smart but if done too much, it becomes playing scared. We coached a scared game.

I don't think he was in position at all, he was just flat out burned

Sorry... I should have included Zimmer as well. Nice four man rush in the 4th Quarter! Once again ... conservative coaching. There is a theme here.

:hammer:

100% on point! The coaches did not lose this game. Mental errors on D, and a critical penalty lost this game. The kicker also did not help us.

On the other side of the ball, I do not believe we were outcoached. We were outplayed! Brunell and Moss beat us.

Think about it - this loss was a statistical anomaly on many fronts. When you go into Q4 with a +2 turnover ratio and a 13-point lead, the odds of losing are almost absurd.

Thank you, at least someone else sees that Zimmer is the problem.
