LB Julian Peterson guaranteed a win over the Cowboys Sunday.
''You can say I guaranteed it, yes,'' Peterson said Monday. ''I think we're going to play well. I'm positive we're going to win, to be honest. We're going to go out there to win, or they're coming out here to lose.'' Sep. 20 - 9:59 am et

where did you get this from? I dont know if i can believe that any of the 49ers players would garauntee anything at this point. If he did say that, I hope Julius dances all around him.

The niners don't have the defense the skins do. This could be a high scoring affair for us.

49ers LB Peterson makes his statement
John Crumpacker, Chronicle Staff Writer

Tuesday, September 20, 2005

As guarantees go, it wasn't exactly Joe Namath poolside at Super Bowl III.

Nevertheless, what Julian Peterson said was no less emphatic than what Broadway Joe uttered so many years ago. With no equivocation, the 49ers' linebacker predicted a win over Dallas on Sunday at Candlestick.

This, a day after the 49ers were pounded into Philly cheesesteak by the Eagles.

"You can say I guaranteed it, yes,'' Peterson said Monday, hardly traumatized by San Francisco's 42-3 loss in Philadelphia. "I think we're going to play well. I'm positive we're going to win, to be honest. ... We're going to go out there to win, or they're coming out here to lose.''

Seeing as folks in Texas take their football seriously, Peterson's comments doubtless will find their way to the Cowboys' Valley Ranch headquarters.

Big deal. It's all talk. Don't make too much out of it.

The better team will win ... regardless of guarantees.

Not that it should matter one wit to the players. But it's funny, he's guaranteeing anything after they got manhandled Sun. by the Eagles. We're not the Eagles, but we're not the Rams either.

Oh well, that's why they play the games... Can't wait til Sun.

Seeing how we play "not to lose" football, he may as well guarantee it.

There is no way he would guarantee ANYTHING if we were playing smashmouth "play to win" football.

Incredible a guy could make a guarantee coming off a 42-3 loss in which his defense gave up 583 yards. He should shut his mouth.

49ers gave up a 441 yardage differential to the Eagles on Sunday, is that an NFL record?

Don't know if this has been posted yet, and I don't have any written proof, however all of the radio here in the bay area it has Julien Peterson in a radio interview with him making a guarantee that the niners will win this weekend

Not that it really matters, but what do you expect him to say? "I expect to get creamed again next week, maybe we'll score 6 on the Boys and hold them to 41."...

Players say things to get their own team fired up, maybe someone on the Boys should say "We ain't gonna lose a game the rest of the year".... hehe...like I said, not like it really matters. Everything will get handled on the field, the Boys don't need motivation from 1 guy on a sucky football team to get them fired up, they should be ready to go w/ passion come Sunday.

Ya, and I'm damn sure everyone on our team is pissed. We better smack this SF team around. Their O is even worse then Washingtons. And their D is not as good. We need to get a win out there and get back on track

honestly, I wont be surprised if we lose now..

last night has to be yet another one of the lowlights in franchise history...right up there with the opening day debacles against Philly in 2000 and Houston in 2003, and the home playoff loss to the Cards in 1998

I really thought we were making progress, but last night showed me otherwise...that was just pathetic...any good team in the league would have easily beaten the Skins by 2 or 3 tds last night with the way they played the first 55 minutes...we are not a good team

last night has to be yet another one of the lowlights in franchise history...alright, it's time to cut the crap now. that statement is ridiculous. It happens regularly throughout the league. It was our turn to be on the losing end. This is far from one of the lowlights in franchise history.

really? you mean giving up two bombs for tds to take a 13-0 lead to a 14-13 loss in less than 5 minutes happens all the time?

wow I must be missing something

sorry BB, but nothing has changed with this team despite a pretty substancial increase in overall team talent...we still dont know how to WIN, but we sure know how to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory

I've been watching the team religeously 30+ years now and have seen virtually every game since 1990, and yeah...last night was one of the low points since I started watching them

I really believed this was turning the corner and going to become a "good" team again, but instead we showed we still dont know how to WIN

Ok stupid picture aside. Now, it's right there in your own words. You know in today's NFL, coaching, and we do have one of the best in the business, it's all about talent. You can't build a doster for 6 years because of the cap. Talent is what pushes you over the edge. It's a young team, with LOADS of talent. Wait until the second half of the season. If we can tough it out here early on, get over this hurdle, we can still easily make a push.

And I'm not sure how ithappened either, but somehow Brunell manages to save his 2 perfect throws for when it counted most. The one where we had Moss covered, he put that in the perefect spot. I dont even think we didnt have that one covered.

Just have a little bit of faith..you're really already to the point where you'll dump this season after Week 2?
