Our OL played very well, Petitti may turn into a steal.
The DL all played very well, both Spears and Canty made plays.
We had 5 sacks and gave up none.
We won the turnover battle.
We did not have a lot of penalties, and the two that hurt us were both VERY QUESTIONABLE.
We are a young team, we have a lot of new players in the mix too. That takes some time to gel, so keep it in perspective. The entire league has warts, there is not a complete team out there.
I figured coming in, we'd be 1-1 after 2 games and probably would not hit our stride until after the bye week. If anything I think we are ahead of schedule on defense.

I like Maddens point, that if Petitti was re-drafted, hed be much higher than a 6th round pick.
Spears looked huge.
Once again our 2 TD's were complete metal lapses. This team has serious talent. There absolutely has to be some work done though, and Parcells needs to get to coaching. He got us great groceries, but he has to add the ingriedients hisself.
Most people #1 concern currently has a 112 QB rating, 4 TD's, no picks, and only 4 sacks.
Is Burnett playing this week?

Somewhat lost in all of this, as well, is how well our run defense has been playing. We held Tomlinson to 72 yards on 19 carries (3.8 YPC), with his longest run being 10 yards. (After the first drive, it was 13 for 44 yards, an average of 3.4 YPC.) And we held Portis to 52 yards on 17 carries (3.1 YPC), with his longest run being 8 yards. That's two of the league's most explosive running backs whom we've basically shut down.

If he was at his current weight and conditioning for the Senior Bowl and combine, he would have been drafted higher, too. He cost himself by not getting into better shape sooner. But he did it eventually, and it's paying off now.

There is a very strong core here for the future.
Canty , Spears, Julius , Petitti, Ware, Witten.
I believe all those are under the age of 25.
It has been a long time since Cowboy fans had this much hope about the next 5-7 years.

good point BZ I believe the defense will only get better, the offense I think the jury's still out. The loss still bothers me though. It's tough enough to win in the NFL,too let one like that slip away :(

Amen. I still hate this entire day, but what the heck. **it happens. The Skins beat the Pats last year. It didn't mean the Pats stink and it didn't mean the Skins were good. We're not the Pats, but I saw a lot of great things out there for 55 minutes. Things we can put up against any team in the league. The D was on the cusp of killin' some folks last night.
Unfortunately, we'll probably approach S.F. the same way - close to the vest, avoid the mistakes, play the percentages, and let the D win it. Hope not, but that's BP.

Granted, the loss hurts... (believe me, I know), but there's another game on Sunday to help us forget about MNF. Seeing some results from the youth on defense, Dallas has better days ahead.
