I am posting this while still in shock.Over 24 hours have passed since the loss and i am no where close to being over it.That game may have cost us a playoff spot.Time will tell.
Anyway i was very thrilled by the play of our two rookie de's.Both Spears and Canty looked like future pro bowlers to me,if they keep working hard and avoid injuries.I am especially pleased with Canty's play,because a lot of folks did not think he would play this year.My goodness what a bonus.
Also John Madden comparing Canty to a young Leon Lett,really got my attention.That comment really bought a smile to my face,because Leon in his prime was almost unblockable.We are set at de for a very long time,barring injuries of course.

I wasn't sure if he desevered all the pre-season hype, but so far he has looked pretty good when the games have actually counted. Nothing like having some depth along the DL. Coleman on the other hand looked solid in pre-season after looking like trash last year, but in my eyes Coleman has disappeared again now that the regular season is here. I'm not so sure he is a good fit here. Something to watch for anyhow.

COleman is doing quite well, he almost got to Brunell at least once, but what he's doing well is occupying blockers, it's the 3-4, you're not going to hear much from DEs during the game, although we've heard Ellis' name alot, but that's different, he's just a damn good pass-rusher

I'll respectfully disagree about him almost getting a sack. Coleman is slower than slow and got outran by a mile. He has no speed at all; same problem he had last year. He does ok against the run, I'll give him that.

I haven't seen Coleman do a thing.

Hope Canty plays up to or beyond the level of Leon. Just hope (and really not too worried) that he doesn't share Leon's affinity for the wacky tabacky.

Spears = Seymour
Canty = Pryce

Trevor Pryce. Not a bad comparison at all but I suspect there's more to Canty's game.

Spears and Canty can be two ANIMALS on that DL. I was very impressed by them as young players.
Spears is a huge, thick athlete and Canty is a leaner, taller, athletic DE. Just wait until they get a good bit of experience and they start to recognize what the offense is doing immediately and they start to just react! It could be beautiful to watch!
I thought Leon Lett was a bit of an enigma. I dont think he ever reached his full potential. Something always seemed to happen to poor Leon. Lets hope Canty career is less bumpy.

I agree Wood. Leon always seemed to be about 20 cents short of a dollar. I think the Cowboys coaching staff did an excellent job of shielding Leon. I don't look at Canty and see Leon Lett. I look at Canty and I see more Buck Buchanan in him.
As for Spears, I actually see a lot of Clyde Simmons in him.

Canty is Lett without the drug problem hopefully.

Spears reminds me of Lett a lot more than Canty does. Spears is the one with the quickness and burst, which is what made Lett so good.

If Spear can turn into Lett and Canty into "Too Tall", we would be truly blessed in this draft!
