whats up with this guy? i havent heard anything good about him yet, is he one of them injury prone guys? is he another jacob rogers? we should really just start trading away our 2nd round pick, we've gotten one legit starter from them in like 5 years.

Where do we find these people?
Well, in preseason I remember Beriault on the field and making plays while Burnett was not even dressed. Burnett was hurt. So we IR'd Beriault and kept Burnett and *Bing* Burnett is hurt again. Why didn't we IR both of these guys or keep Beriault active? You'll say 'well, Beriault has a bad knee'. Yeah, but he could play and play well. Freakin Burnett can't even play.

Dude get your facts straight man, Burnett played all four preseason games and was the best special team player on the team. While Beriault couldn't practice and miss the last two preseason games. That's why he was put on I.R.. Do you even follow this team man?

The same way Julius was a bust last year. We had all the same posts about JJ before he healed. Now those same people will pretend that they were behind him all the way. But the fact of the matter is that there were quite a few people posting on the message boards about the fact that JJ was a bust and clearly not tough enough to play in the NFL.

Yeah, I did. Brainfart. I confused training camp with preseason play. I guess Beriault's play impressed me. Burnett didn't seem to stand out. My mistake.

What round was Witten drafted? 2nd or 3rd?
Burnett WILL be a starting OLB by game #10. Doomsaday will need his speed and athleticism(sp?). Fujita will move to ILB next to Dat.

Fujita's skills are best suited for OLB. He's gonna stay there. Burnett won't be starting at OLB unless an injury (or two ) occurs. Parcells already said he might move Burnett to ILB anyway.
By the way, Fujita is bigger and faster then Burnett.

well either way its just seeming burnetts pick was a wasted pick for us..
Bryan8284
09-24-2005, 04:29 PM
Far from a wasted pick right now. It's an injury, he'll recover, then we can judge him. JJ was hurt until Baltimore last year, I don't think he busted.
RoysAHitta
09-24-2005, 04:30 PM
as stated above, BP said that even when he heals he wont be seeing the field.. we dont have a glaring need at OLB like we did at running back. jj was far more likely to succeed.

And yet there were dozens of people proclaiming him a bust when he was hurt. It's no different than what you are doing right now. Let the guy heal and we'll see what happens down the road. Most draft picks take a year or two to pan out one way or the other.

Man, Burnett will do fine, we had a clear dearth at OLB, our 2nd round picks do fine usually. (Rogers, Quincy, Dixon not withstanding). The guy did real good in the preseason, and we haven't seen him play yet. Just wait, he'll be a real important part of this defense.

actually i started a thread similar to the one i just started and got very similar responses. everyone laughing and saying "no way" pretty much. for every al johnson theres a jacob rogers. im not going out on the limb and calling burnett a bust im simply asking what is he doing and why can't he get any playing time? is he just not that good of a lb or is he still hurt with a nagging injury?
im simply asking what is he doing and why can't he get any playing time? is he just not that good of a lb or is he still hurt with a nagging injury?
Is this short attention span theater? Have you not read that he's hurt? Well of course you have. What's he been doing? Maybe rehabbing? And why can't he get any playing time? Gee these are tough questions.
You're not calling Burnett a bust....but you're asking if he is? ? Who the hell can tell you something like that after 2 games in his rookie year? Jacob Rogers? Well let's give it at least a full year before we try and make that comparison

Sorry, but I disagree. Your post count is not a factor. The thread you chose to start is 100% of your problem. If you have a limited amount of time and can't post as often as you might like the best thing to do would be to make sure that the posts you can make are worth the effort. This thread isn't. Asking if a guy is a bust after 2 games, when he hasn't even played because he just had surgery, is beyond silly. It's flat out ridiculous. Nobody is going to know anything about Burnett one way or the other for a while. Even mentioning the possibility of him being a bust at this point is asinine, it's just like mentioning him as a potential probowler at this point. If I started a thread asking if Burnett was a probowler you'd laugh - because it's patently ridiculous since he hasn't even played. Calling him a bust, or even suggesting that he is, is every bit as pointless and presumptuous.
Bizwah
09-25-2005, 11:50 AM
Sorry, RoysaHitta, but this is a ridiculous post.
So, you called Rogers a bust and got it right. So what does that prove? Does this make you an expert or something?
Like many others, I can't stand it when folks label a player a bust so early in their career. It's impossible to guage how good they're going to be so early in their career.
Julius Jones is a great example of this......he got injured and didn't get to play. Many were labeling him a "bust"....Would you agree that he is one now? I don't think anyone would.
Brett Favre is another great example....Here's a player drafted in the 2nd round. He looked terrible in Atlanta, and if people were like you, he would've been labeled a bust immediately.
Be patient.....Burnett cannot possibly be labeled a bust just yet. He hasn't even played a full year yet.
There's nothing wrong with having an opinion......just be patient.
