I'm not sure Crayton sucks, but he is another example of Parcells conservatism. Crayton has the best hands (despite his one fumble yesterday) but doesn't seem to bring much speed/explosiveness to the return itself.

You have to wonder how many teams would have T Newman on the sidelines when they're about to receive a punt???

I agree that we need a new punt returner but I won't go so far as to say Crayton sucks. I don't think he is a gamechanging returner like I think Tyson Thompson may be at kick returner or Primetime was at punt returner. We need a gamechanger back there in my opinion.

Crayton has great hands, but he's virtually no threat to run one back.

I really thought we'd see TNEW in their late in the 4th with the game on the line...

When Parcells wouldn't put him in last week when we were behind with under a minute in true desperation time, I realized that he's simply not going to let him do it. Why that is, only Bill knows. But it's really frustrating, because I thought Newman's couple of punt returns in preseason were some of the better PRs we've had in literally years.

I agree, Crayton is not a returner.

Heck, the first punt yesterday he plucked the ball with his hands, over his head. Geez.

Just too upright to be a returner.

A. Glenn or Newman would be better options.

Crayton scares me when hes not catching a nice 3rd down and getting down. He runs upright and with the ball way out. If he doesnt fumble hes good for about 5,6 yards. Nothing special, just under the league PR average.

How about Nate Jones

Terrance Copper looks like he's running a freakin 4.9 out there. I swear he is the slowest return man I've ever seen. I know he didn't have but one return yesterday, but in the Skins game he was returning the punts.

Copper doesn't return punts. Crayton does.

What about Price? He has speed. We may as well use him for something if we're going to dress him. Can't be any worse than what we got going now. Or can it?

I agree on Price........I mentioned that yesterday. Sounds like a plan to me.

Crayton has NO sense of anticipation of where the ball is going to land. I think he may have caught like 2 punts, the rest of them bounce in front of him. Odd.

When he dropped the one yesterday, it was almost like a video game how he quickly stuck one hand down and snatched it. It was crazy fast....He needs some slider adjustments, heh...

Yes please Bill make a change at this position. I would like to see what price has, or maybe even Thompson. Crayton has no burst of speed, and the way he holds the ball scares the hell out of me.

He's done it before too. Not very well, but he has done it.

I think we all see Bill's logic in not exposing key players to injury in the return game, but my concern is putting Newman or Price or even Glen on PR at some crucial point in a big game WITHOUT them ever having done it before during the season.

Not saying make any of these guys the primary PR, but at give them some exposure so they are at least a little comfortable with the return schemes.

Crayton makes me nervous returning punts, and he makes me nervous running after the catch. He just seems a little loose with the ball. I don't know the answer though. I would hate to see Newman get hurt returning a kick, and beyond that, Crayton probably is the best option...unless Barber can do something.

I'd like to see thompson try his hand at it. Crayton looks a bit clueless at times, and hasnt done much when he catches it. It also seems like as soon as he started doing returns, he barely got any playing time. not sure if thats a real correlation or not, but i want Crayton back to makin big plays, not on the sideline.

Crayton has shown nothing at all so far as our punt returner. I was screaming for TNew to go back there late in the 2nd half when we needed a big play. I don't want to see TNew back there all the time, but when we need a big play, why not? He has plenty of speed and excelled in college doing so. Crayton just seems tentative and slow back there IMO.
