First off...we are very very very lucky to pull that one out. We got beat for 58 minutes...Niners came to play with passion, and it showed!
My seats were corner endzone 5 rows up from the field...I'm so pizzed I did not take my camera...the Boys were warming up right in front of us. I yelled Glover a few times and got him to look and wave. Dudes arms are MASSIVE.
Flo, Spears, Canty are huge.....just freakin huge. Big Al...looked very small walking off after pregame next to flo.
The bad:
~ Ok for the game...I'm reading on here that Bledsoe is a hero on some threads. Let me tell you first hand when the team is driving right at you and you can see the WR in their routes....I can't tell you how many times Glenn and Crayton were WIDE open and Bledsoe is to freakin scared to throw the ball down field. He missed them over and over again, just to look them off and dump it short. I was going bazurk! His two picks were stupid throws...first one for TD...right in front of me...did not see the guy. The one to Glenn on the sideline....he was covered big time...forced it. Stupid decisions for a QB of his experience.
~ Deep pass for TD....Davis bit hard and Lloyd had Henry by 5 yards...Davis is at fault IMO...no help there at all for Henry. Did not see Davis in the game much after that...that I noticed anyways.
~ They played three wide almost all game and spread us out...I thought the Niners had a petty good game plan offensively overall.
~ Fake punt...I hated that call...down by five...on our own 30 something and we give it back to them and they then go score....we gave them points!
~ Cortez sucks! Niners fans glad we have him.
~ Did not feel the intensity from the Boys that I did from Niners...we must pick this up somehow.
The Good:
~ We hung with them for almost the whole game until we stiffened up some defensively, then the offense moved the ball well. The play to Glenn was pretty although he was sitting out there for what seemed 5 seconds before Drew would throw it...had pulled away big time from DB.
~ Ware got his first sack..pumped for that.
~ Spears plays hard!
~ JJ ran hard...not many holes that I could see.
~ Bledsoe threw well when he pushes the ball upfield...he just needs to do it!
~ Glad we won, but did not play well, although credit for staying tough and pulling it off.
Lots more, but that is the main stuff...lots of yelling at Goose walking back and forth...guy in first row right next to Goose calling him big fat arse and Goose just ignored him...was funny.
Saw thre fights...each time it was one Niner and one Cowboy fan getting hauled off...these guys were drunk and stupid. It's just a game!

Ill disagree w/ you on the lucky to win the game comment. The offense was moving the ball at will on the SF defense. I never was worried about us scoring to beat them. I was worried our D finally sucking it up and stopping them so we could score and beat them.
thanks for the assessment, still im more confident throwing on 3 and 10 with bledsoe then i can remember with any QB since aikman

Agreed Dallas. They only stopped us when we stopped ourselves, like the bootleg in the first quarter, the INT or the fumble. My fear was not stopping them.
As for Portland's comment re Bledsoe, there might have been open guys but pretty hard to criticize Drew for yesterday's performance.

The interesting and strange problem is that Parcells made a several stupid coaching decisions yesterday.
The two I'd highlight are the 2pt conversion attempt and the fake punt. Theres a place and time for each of those, but where they were done wasn't the place for either.

Well, I was not there and obviously you saw some things, but he drove us to 34 points. I will take that everytime, most of it was passing as well, not running the ball.
The first pick was obviously a bad mistake, he admitted he got fooled on that play. It happens!
The second pick was forced, but was just a great play by the 49ers.
Drew looked good to me, and I hope he keeps it up.

Same here, never felt like the offense could not score was more worried that the defense would mess up again. I felt Drew had a good game for the most part and did not get down after the picks but came right back after them.

Then again, I felt that was about the 'Skins game last week, which made that loss ever more devastating.

I don't know how anyone can say we got beat for 58 minutes.
We outscored the 49ers 22-7 in the 2nd half.

Yes he did...I think I may have sounded harder on Drew then I should have been, but when you can see things developing in person it sure is different then on TV...my knock was he played very safe in the first half...the second half it was a different story. I would like to see Drew trust his own instincts and hit Glenn when he's there...yes it's hard to make judgements on the field, but my point was he/Glenn/Crayton was open over and over again...not just one or two plays, but all day.
I'm happy we got the win...we made some bad coaching calls, and gave them the ball deep in our territory way to much...each costing us points. Playing out of a hole.
Drew made some very nice throws in the second half...very nice...I want to see him do that early on...he's capable!

It's a lot harder to see the lanes on the field than it is in the stands. Plus, I think Parcells doesn't necessarily want Drew to air it out. Drew is being conservative and it has been working. I'm sure he will break it out one game and just kick butt all day. He's got some great weapons. Don't forget too that the strategy so far has been to spread it out to all the weapons, kind of like NE does.
I was mostly concerned about the D holding them, but SF seemed to fold under the pressure at the end.

What section are you sitting in? I have to fly in from Anchorage. I can get RT tickets for about 300 right now. I think I could spend 200-300 on a great seat. I had 2 seats on the 35 yrd line 6 rows back from the Dallas bench but I couldnt get anyone to roll w/ me.

Very key play and a very poor play call on the goalline by SF. They pulled their guard allowing penetration on a goalline play where the DL is trying to penetrate. They had been running it right at us with a lot of success, so I'm very glad they went away from that down at the goalline.
Also, as another poster said, I believe by his nature, Bledsoe is an "air it out' QB, but Parcells his constantly preaching at him to protect the ball and get rid of it, so I think in deference to the HC and not getting his butt chewed out, he is being cautious and not taking shots downfield even when they appear to be open.

Portland Fanatic, it was a great atmosphere but I got to disagree, Drew does miss a few targets but he has been doing a great job of letting the play develop...when he has had time, he as been effective.

Thanks for the game report Portland Cowboy. Interesting comments about open Receivers. There almost always is someone open but the ball is thrown before they are the read. I hope that is the case rather than he lacks confidence to make any throw.

If Bledsoe see's guys open downfield he'll throw it to a fault.See, I think so too. If he is missing guys who are open I think it is probably because he is reading someone else before he gets to that read. It happens all time to every team and QB. You have to go through progressions. QB is about discipline. If you pass on a hot read that is open the chances you can come back to it or have time to come all the way back to it are slim and none.

Bledsoe is being more careful with the ball. It's Parcells. Bledsoe loves the big long play and taking risks. There is a reason why he only has 2 int's so far....he'd have more if he just did what he wanted to all the time. I know that for a fact. lol :laugh2:

I'm tellin you, we have some serious concerns at QB if Drew looks off the North/South patterns and dumps the ball off short. He looked like a rattled rookie for several parts of the game.
Bledsoe did make some good throws (although against a week defense) down the stretch, but the 2 interceptions were sooooooooooo costly and at critical points in the game. We were lucky to recover. And Yes, it was all Niners until 1:56. I can't hear in my left ear from my stupid 49er brother yelling in my ear for 58 minutes until Keyshawn shut him up with the deciding TD.
Big Plays?? All you had to do was watch sports center to know the Boys had nothing spectacular for ESPN. Niners had all the Big Plays!
All in all, it's a win on the road and it was great to see all the Cowboy fans at the game. I undestand Parcel's has Bledsoe on a short leash, but the guy needs to look and fell comfortable out there and he did not! 2 or 3 deep down field throws in the 1st half would have changed that. Air the damm ball out every now and then, did we learn nothing from Washington?

They miss wide open people. It has been my belief for more years than I care to admit that the reason for this is that they throw to an earlier read most of the time someone is left wide open.
Think of it this way, the quicker they think the better. Imagine the QB going back, read 1 is covered, read 2 has a step...fire. Meanwhile read 3 is wide open by 7 yards. If the QB passes on read 2 and read 3 is not open then he has missed read 2.
Very few plays are the old sandlot days where you had all day and waited for someone to come free.

I am very keen to Glenn's separation. I have extolled that big past two years. I've almost never seen a WR that flat out is more uncoverable. I'd bet unless you put a safety over the top on him that he's open 9 out of 10 plays. Its unbelievable how quick AND fast Glenn is in person.

Did you and PC - see the 362 yards Bledsoe threw for? See the 2 TD passes? The 6 yard TD run? The two 4th quarter TD drives to win the game? Last one inside 2:00 to go? The clutch 2 point conversion that mattered?
I almost swear after reading your accounts we lost, Drew for 100 yards and completed 35%. JMO

Yes he is....Really what I'm saying is give him more reigns, or tell him go for it. I honestly believe he has a leash on him for now...maybe by design. I hope we allow him to push it down field he has the arm and accuracy. The impression I'm getting is that he's scared of BP's rath if he does...maybe I should focus on what he's told to do. Not there so I don't know, but allow him to cut lose!
That will allow JJ more room to run. Sometimes we get in the run first to open up the passing game. After three games we need to throw more to open up JJ...teams know about JJ now.
