View Full Version : Thoughts On The Giants Game

I think everyone realizes how much false hype surrounded the Giants now.

Bad
1) Al Johnson is killing us he is getting owned and totally destroying our timing. He messed up another snap. He gets pushed back every play and because of him Bledsoe has no time and causes the running back to get hit in the backfield. They played us just like Oakland did. I will bet money it was Al Johnsons guy who got in Bledsoes face for the interception frickin Glenn was wide open!!!

2) Shows how much we need JuJo in the game and how much respect teams give him. Our timing was off without him in there.

3) That conservative play calling killed us again today. The coaching almost lost us the game. The goalline fumble recovery by Roy should of ended the game with a couple first downs. But no Dallas coaches run everytime and give the ball back to the Giants on the 50.

4) Field position was a total flop from last week and killed us all game.

Good

1) Defense, Defense, Defense. Props to Tnew, Ware, DL, Henry and Roy. Granted there wasa couple bad plays at the end but it is bound to happen.

2) Crayton is Mr. Clutch and I hope he is ok a broken ankle won't keep him out long.

3) Bledsoe played a good game considering the circumstances.
4) Key came up big for us today.
5) Cortez came through in the clutch and did a good job with the kickoffs.
6) Our special teams played good.

They didn't run on all three plays from the goal line. The third play was a pass.

On the third play i say bledose made a mistake in not seeing the blitz from the right side, and audbile or doing something instead, he hikes the ball rolls right into the blitz and almsot got a saftey, that was the one play that i hated.

Barber played well, too.

I don't think the importance of today's game is diminished because of the outcome of the game.

We held a team to 13 points that had been averaging 34 a game...and we did that just one week after holding the Eagles offense to 3 points. All this from a young defense that is still finding itself.

Eli, Shockey, Plaxico and Tiki...and they scored 13? I don't care if it was ugly or pretty, I'm pretty darn happy with this win -- a divisional win, at that.

There were several plays were I saw . who I thought was Johnson get blown up and pushed into the backfield. After patient waiting to see the number beside the 2, which ended up being a 6, It was Marco! I will settle for saying it is a combination of the two.

They didn't run on all three plays from the goal line. The third play was a pass.If they were going to pass at all it should have been on second down when everyone was looking for a run...go with a play action. That third down play had no chance of success with the Giants looking for it and pinning their ears back coming for Bledsoe. It was really poor play calling on that series all the way around.

You and me both, Dale... there were a LOT of positives in this game, no matter the assorted negatives... as things stand right now, the Cowboys will have a top 10 defense, and perhaps even a top 5 offense when the stats come out on Tuesday...

And they're 4-2... we shouldn't forget that they won 5 games all of last year, and have a shot at exceeding that total by midseason... bottom line, 6-4 the rest of the way would leave them at 10-6, and 10-6 teams make the playoffs... of course, they could have an even better record when it's all said and done, in which case we might even be looking at a home playoff game or two...

Yeah, there's a long way to go, but my point is that things are shaping up nicely, even if it HAS been a struggle so far... but our defense is becoming rather good, and our passing offense is downright lethal...

Agreed. But options are limited in your own 1 yard line. I was just hoping to avoid a safety.

As far as the bad goes, you can add the turnovers and penalties. Far too many!!! :banghead: I'll take a win any way I get it, but your not gonna get away with that stuff most sundays.

It was almost like the giants knew we were going to slide the pocket right. The situation they were in there at the 1 yd line was bad anyway you cut it even our runs were near safeties Drew made the right play by just chucking it out of bounds.

Gee, nice reviews of the game, but no comments about Cortez? Yeah, he won the game, but he left 6 points on the field, necessitating the overtime. Before the OT kick, I was claiming to my buddies he would be gone by next Wednesday. This was a kickers game to win, and he almost lost it.

Good:

MB3,, this kid looked great today. I can see Dallas doing what Auburn did last year and using a 2 back offense with both backs in the game at the same at some point. This kid really impressed me today.

Drew B.. what can you say about this guy? Thanks Buffalo

Key had a big game, came up big after the fumble. Good job.

The D played another good game,, hope there is not a let down next week.

Cortez was decent,, but hit the big one.

Bad:

The O line didnt' protect very well today. And they had to many costly penalities.

Turnovers,, can't do that week in and week out.

Injuries,, hope evryone is ok and in Craytons case,, hope he is not out to long.

A win is a win is a win. Sloopy and ugly, but its a W . The big difference i see right now, we won this game, last year, we would have lost this one. This team is playing wth a lot of confidence right now, and that can take us a long way.

Actually, I'm not sure how bad a safety would have been at that point as it would have only given them two points, but by free kicking from the 20, McBriar could have penned them much further back, making a drive more difficult.

I wouldn't have been surprised if Parcells had told McBriar to step back out of the endzone and take a deliberate safety in order to avoid a possible block or short field. I have seen it done before and sometimes it's a good tactic.

The game plan was opened up again, the reason we only put up 16 points was missed field goals and a few key turnovers. The game plan was excellent.

And in that specific goal line situation, they were on their own 1 yard line. They did the right thing. No, even better, they should have probably run on all three downs. You don't want a turnover or a safety there, let your defense close out the game.

I would have liked to see PA pass on first down, if we get a first down there, I think there is zero OT!

yea and another turnover right there and the game is over also, just the other way. It was def ther right thing to do there. Personally, i would have run it again, on 3rd to make them burn their last time out. Our d had shut them down the entire game and the last thing we needed was a stupid mistake in that situation. I like the game plan we just didn't execute very well today and that is what almost cost us the game, not the game plan.

Dude, we won in OT. You were so adamant all week about how we'd kill them, they have no pass rush, all the turnovers they were getting were flukes, etc. You've been proven wrong in so many areas in you still hold your ground?

If Dallas does not blow them out I will be really upset.
