Got a little male Pit Bull mix puppy Saturday.
He is a sandy color with light brindle on him, red nose, gold eyes and ears that look like bat wings.
Any ways I thought of Radar( because of the big ears) and then decided on the name Dobby (because he looks kind of like the house elf in the 2nd harry potter movie).
But after thinking about it I am not sure if that is the best idea because he may grow into those ears and such later.
Normally I have given dogs names with a little more oomph to them such as Xavier Conan or Damien Belial and so one.
We have a female dog and the wife named her Daishiki and I said...no more naming dogs for you lol.
So how about some names guys and gals
So far here are some I am considering...
Hawkeye
Legion
Patton
Chainsaw
Wolfgang (have always loved that name)
Beowulf
Odin
Voodoo
Shogun
Feel free to add any possible names...and if you put a name down I like I will reward you with a ..... Thanks :laugh2:

Chainsaw cracks me up. You could also go with either of the names with "Wolf" in it and call him that for short.

Manster is not bad.
I was trying to think of a good dallas related name but nothing seemed to fit...however manster is not bad.
I have been calling him buddy as I do most male dogs but the wife has been calling him little man.

If you seen the dogs ears...you would get the Radar name.
Hawkeye is just a cool name as well.
I told the wife we could call in ferret face but I don't think she got the reference lol.

Butkus was a heck of a player...but just can not call my dog a name after another player of another team.
The other names just don't fit the dog though.
I do thank you for the ideas though.

So far Manster has sound the best from the Cowboys themed names.
NO WAY would I name him prime time...great player and I thank him for his "healthy" time with the cowboys...but never liked him as a person.
I think I will stay away from dirty or poke...the young dog has a humping problem we are going to correct lol...hopefully when he gets fixed.

I named my pit Angus after an actor in Braveheart and it turns out it was the wrong actor :D
It fits him though because he's as big as a cow now.....125lbs
And he also has those radar ears so the don't grow out of it unless you have them clipped.....which I hate.

For a pitbull, I like the name wolfgang.
Odin is cool too.
You could go with the name of historical/mythological dogs.
Seaman - Meriwether Lewis' dog. Plus your dog would be named Seaman. :laugh2:
Argus - Odysseus' dog
Cerberus - The three headed dog that guards the gates of Hades.
Garm - from Norse mythology, guards the dark realm of the goddess Hel.
Tank or Willie (from William the Conqueror) - Patton's dogs.
Waylon Jennings
My brother loves him. when Waylon died he cried... then got extremely drunk and played his music all night, unfortunately he then called me and babbled on incoherent nonsense for about a half hour before i finally had to hang up on him.
I really dont like country music at all, but i didnt mind jennings for some reason, he was alright.

I usually wait for a while before naming an animal. I find a certain behavior or something they do that seems appropriate for their name. I have no problem calling them "dog" or "boy/girl" until then. For example, my black lab is one ugly dog with a tongue too big for his mouth, and a whole lot of slobber. One day I was walking him and he came back with a ton of slobber all around his face, in nasty strings and everything. I had never seen rabies on a dog before so naturally, that was the first thing I thought. I was thinking about all those stray animals he'd run after into the boonies, and he had finally caught something. The next day, he had the same problem, lots of slobber all over his mouth after running. Same thing next day and so on. He only gets it when he exercises. So my dog is basically a foaming at the mouth drooler and I appropriately named him Cujo. I thought it was funny, but I think some people look twice at my dog when I start yelling, "Here Cujo, here boy!"

I know what you mean... I had a weimeraner once and waited to name her...
Weimers have a silver coat with silver eyes to match and weren't well known at the time... everyone always said "cool dog"... and she was... so I named her "CD" for "Cool Dog"...

Yes that is why I have been asking for names.
I usually like to wait a few days before settling on a name as well.
We got the dog Saturday and it is now Wed ....I may stick with dobby or maybe change it to doomsday as I really like that.
Or I just may have his full name as Dobby Doomsday or Doomsday Dobby :D
That first day I considered calling him X-Ray because the shelter had found him and he was, and still is but getting better, so skinny that you could see every rib sticking out, his backbone and his arse bones.
I told the wife he is so skinny that when he is standing out in the sunlight you can see him like a x-ray lol.

Not so much suggestions...
My fav dog was a huge black lab/sheppard mix... his name was Hagar... he was about 110 lbs. and Hagar the Horrible fit him perfectly, even though I think my mom named him after Sammy Hagar...
I have a smaller Golden Ret/Pitt/Border Collie mix about 70 lbs.(she looks like a black lab, go figure)... and her name is Sheba... bibical icon of femine power... and since she does have the muscle tone of a pitt it fits her very well... and the black coat, since she originated from somewhere in Northern Africa probably is apt, as well.... then again maybe that's too much thinking for a dogs name... haha

...what about "Golden" for Golden Richards.
Dogs do have personalities and it's nice to name them after a strong character trait or a physical trait.
I'm with you on the "Dobby" unless there's some habit the dog has that is undeniable.
We have a cat named "Felix" and when compared to the cartoon you'd swear the character came to life in our cat. That's the best I can do.

I name our pet guinea pigs after Playuhs.
It's funny how they begin to take on the player's characteristics.
Like Fergy eating us out of house and home.
It's also a great reminder of football all year round, BP, to give a pet your favorite players' names.
Since dear Cumar passed on Father's day, Petitti is up for the next namesake. I am trying to find an American Crested that looks just like him.

Quite cool.
Actually, I have a dog right now that could go by the name of Doomsday. He's a mixed mutt that, at last vet visit 4 months ago, weighed in at 72lbs. Now I know that doesn't sound big, but you should see him. Maybe 18" tall. Huge shoulders and chest. Face of a bit bull but a body the size of a hound on steriods. The vet called him a "Block", and I said "yea, a cinder block".
When he was younger, during play, he would run at you full force and would only stop after plowing into you. Loves the kids but does not like strangers. Thats one reason that I kept him when we moved.

I'm a little late too, but I named my dog Haley back in about '94. It's an easy name to call (dog names that end with the "y" sound always are fun), and it just somehow seemed to fit.
So my suggestion for a Dallas related name would be Haley.
