Mike Tice will be fired at the end of the year. I think he would be an ideal candiate for our O-line coach, if he doesn't go to AZ. Reminder Minnesota has had a good o-line for years and Tice was the o-line coach before being the head
coach. What you guy think?

He also had some quality lineman to coach at that time such as Stringer (RIP) and Matt Birk. That certainly helps alot.

I would be worried about the baggage.

No renting boats or selling SB tickets for him.

I really don't see Jones bringing in a guy like this.

He probably still has nightmares about firearms in suitcases.

Tice didn't have to put in as much time as an assistant as he should have. Why? Because Minny used him as a "name" hire -- rather than bring in a real coach to get fans pumped, they went with a popular former player.

I think he has some promise as a position coach but is way over his head at this point.

I think this is a very astute observation and a very real possibility. I was also thinking this a couple of weeks ago.

Parcells spoke about Tice last year and said he was one of the brightest young coaches in the league. Actually was asked who he thought were bright young coaches and he said Tice first.

I also remember Tice as the OL coach and remember watching a "miked" game with him instructing players. I guarantee their was more football talk with him during a real game than the rah rah guys like Cowher.

I would welcome him here.

Tice sucks...he cowed to Randy Moss and his antics...I have no respect for a coach that bows to a player.

Don't put that one on Tice -- that is on ownership and Denny Green to start. Tice has no power in Minny.

I think if the big picture got a little smaller for Mike he could have better focus and have better results. With someone like Parcells calling the shots, it would take alot of the pressure off Tice and let him focus on the game rather than every little thing (example: trying to not sound like a blithering idiot at weekly pcs).

I don't think Tice was ever a coordinator, so when he's canned, he would likely be knocked down all the way to positions coach, I suppose.

That's too great a plunge to take all in one shot..maybe he could snag an oline job with the additional 'asst head coach' attached to it, or maybe coach in college...but to go from an hc to a pure positions coach..geez, I feel for the guy.
