every team is going to lose players....... so, then you have to hope the players aren't the team stars.
The loss of Flozell was a stinger.
but, if the cowboys are going to lose two defensive players.... ratliff and singelton would be at the top of my list of preference.

Are you saying that Ratliff is out for the year or are you asking?
I hope not .I think he would be a very big contributer by years end.
On special teams and in the D-Line rotation.

If he was put on IR...he's out for season. To bad...he was really doing well. Non-stop motor guy!

When will the "why couldn't we put him on PUP" posts start?

Green Bay lost Javon Walker, Robert Ferguson, Ahman Green as well as their Center(?), I don't think we're doing too bad in the injury department.

I was pulling for Ratliff and still am, but remember the guy taking his place (Kenyon Coleman) was the starter for the first 6 games and was playing well. I hate to lose a young prospect like Ratliff for the year but it is not a devastating loss. Singleton is being replaced by a better player anyway and Julius' injury has given us a chance to find out about Thompson (who I still think can play) and Barber so it was not all bad. The only major blow to the team has been Flo's injury and Tucker seems to be doing a good job in his place.

Parcells doesn't expect breaks, so he tries to plan for not getting any.

I like how Ratliff has been playing, but our defensive end depth is so solid that this is not a loss that deeply concerns me.

Um, I thought he had a high ankle sprain. That usually doesn't put you out for the season.

Um, I thought he had a high ankle sprain. That usually doesn't put you out for the season. It depends on the severity. I have seen high ankle sprains take guys out for the year and this late in the season it very well could.

If he's going to miss more than 3 games BP will want the roster spot.

A big guy like that though -- he'll likely need 6-8 -- he's putting a lot of pressure on the ankle by being over 300 lbs

This pisses me off big time. If we could wait for Crayton to get healthy, we could wait for Ratliff.

Wow, short fuse - you don't even know how long he is projected to be out.

If it is a severe high ankle sprain he likely wouldn't even be ready if we made it to the SB.

Also, these big guys, they sit for 4 weeks recovering and they tend to get out of condition and need another few weeks to get back in game shape.

Bottom line: we lost Singleton and Ratliff and replaced them with Dixon and Scott. That, my friends, is bad.

Bottom line: we lost Singleton and Ratliff and replaced them with Dixon and Scott. That, my friends, is bad.You can't expect to lose starters and top rotations guys halfway through the season and replace them with the same quality players off the street. If you can you don't have a very good team to start with. And it is not like Dixon and Scott will be taking their place on the field; we have other people (depth) for that.

And besides I like to think that Dixon is taking A-Train's place. They are both scrubs but Dixon at least is our scrub :D

indeed it is. i don't think the ratliff injury is as bad as to shelve him for the year. me thinks this is BP's way of stashing a guy while shoring up another area that he was concerned about. since he puts so much emphasis on coverage teams, ratliff was a sacrifice bunt. he'll be a cowboy for years to come.

More correctly, we replaced them with Burnett and Coleman/Johnson.

That's far less a drop off.

You mean the recently demoted Coleman? Swell. Burnett has good upside, but Singleton is better at this point.

Actually it was that Spears was so much better than him. Did you ever really think Coleman was a starter? Or would you prefer that Spears couldn't beat him out?
