The Giants are overrated

All I keep hearing is how the Giants are the best team in the NFC, or one of the best. Why???? They are a good team, but I’m not ready to give them the NFC title. I think they are overrated. Against good teams, (Dallas, Chargers, Denver), their 1 – 2.

Everyone is having a love affair with Manning. Hoping he’ll be even close to his bother.

The Cowboys and Panthers are right there with the Giants for the top spot. You can argue that Atlanta and Seattle are also contenders. Tampa would be also if not for the current QB problem.

Bottom line, it’s too early to declare the Giants or anyone at this time as the best in the NFC. Anyone who declares the Giants as the best team in the NFC is either a Giants fan, playing up to the New York market, or an idiot.

I'm not so sure we'll have to worry...they dont have alot of good young talent on that team, and Manning still doesnt look like a guy that will ever carry a team to me

Burress is 29 years old ......... and has always been an underachiever

Shockey will make great plays ...... but he is not better than Witten (look at their stats)

Our entire secondary is filled with great young talent too

Our O-line is getting younger by the week it seems ....and they have kept Drew upright.

And our VERY young Defense is gonna give little manning nightmares for years to come.
I would take Marion or Julious over Jacobs anyday.

The Giants will be a thorn in our side for a few years to come. Philly is beginning to faulter, the skins well...they are the Skins..I see the Giants and Cowboys fighting it out for the number 1 spot in the division in the coming seasons.

Will Allen is certainly not what the giants expected him to be Peterson isn't going to play again this year. Gibril wilson is the only rising star in their secondary other than that it's average to below average. Their defensive line is pretty good though if you take a look at it and they have a decent core of linebackers when all healthy with Emmons and Pierce.

Their offense though is by far their best assett tiki barber is still a great runningback and yes I said great. Shockey is overrated but he still is a good tight end. Manning is growing even if we don't want to admit it he is getting better and will eventually be one of the elite NFL QB's, Burress is the real deal apparently they throw his way about 40% of the time and he delivers. The Offensive line has played some pretty good football and is a solid unit I think their right side is better than their left with Snee and McKenzie as opposed to Petigout and Diehl.

Overall though I do think they are a bit overrated by the media but that is the media they will jump on bandwagons and off of them quicker than fans do =x
I believe we are the superior team to New York honestly because our offense is equal to if not better than theirs when we don't create stupid mental mistakes and our defense is by far superior to theirs. So overall I think our team would beat their team atleast 7 times out of 10.

3. How about a new head coach...who never coached in the NFL before?

I agree with this. We can and will beat the Giants barring injury disaster. My worry here is who else will beat them?

They have a pretty easy schedule, but they still have to win on the road against the Eagles, Skins, and Seattle, with another away game scheduled at Oakland to end the season. Given that they simply don't play well on the road, including today when they played a spotty game at best, the odds are they'll lose at least 3 more times this year - probably 4 because you just never know on any given weekend what's going to happen. Skins and Seattle on the road are probably both losses, Eagles is a tossup, Oakland they'll probably win. We sweep them and they are probably looking at a 10 - 6 season.

Manning's numbers might be better, but once again that would be a case of why stats are for losers...there is absolutely no comparison when looking at atlent and throwing ability between Aikman and Manning, even with one of the poorest supporting casts in NFL history, Aikmans immense talent to throw was evident from day one

Allen and Peterson were both playing so poorly that they were about to be benched...Shockey still drops as many as he catches...Jacobs is not better than most backups...hell he might not even MAKE our roster here

Allen and Peterson were both being crucified in the NY media here. I would definately not put them in the Top 5 CBs in our division. Id much rather play them than some other teams.

Wilson is a quality player though, no doubt about it.


As for Jacobs, hes just a massive guy who even today couldnt figure out on a 3rd and 1 play that running upright will not work in the NFL. And lets not forget about his fumble at the 1 yard line. There's definately backups that scare me more than him.

I don't think any of those games are easy for them. Minny would seem to be the easiest, but Brad Johnson might have put some life into them. I actually think Minny will beat them. Which of those other games stand out as sure wins? None that I can tell.

The Giants don't scare me at all... not that it matters. 4-4 finish for them, at best. Eli has to prove he can beat a real team on the road and complete a better percent of his passes before I change my mind.

Both Philly games, SEattle, and us are already 4 real hard games for em. Going to Oakland wont be easy either. Minnesota looks to have some life again. It's not a cakewalk in the NFL. We've seen it all too much this year, the "better" team goes out and lays an egg and is beat by a lesser team.

I agree that it is way too early to annoint the "best team in NFC" but I think the Giants are a very good team and getting better. We will have our hands full when we meet them later in the season.....of course I think we will win! :D

Truth is the entire NFC is overrated in my opinion.

Overrated? How about the AFC, who heading into this weekend was losing head-to-head to the NFC.

How do you judge strength? The strength of the NFC rests in two conferences, the East and South.

Indy plays the hideous NFC West, and Pittsburgh and Cincy play the even more pathetic NFC North. Likewise, Jacksonville has been inconsistent, Tennessee is terrible, and Houston is the worst the NFL has to offer. The only good game from this whole mess will be Indy vs. Seattle. Minny, GB, Detroit, and Chicago are not good, but I'd equate Jacksonville with Chicago right now.

New England plays the strong NFC South, and they barely beat Atlanta and lost to Carolina. Miami has been scrappy, but they, the Bills, and the Jets are average to bad teams. Tampa should be very good, if the curse of Joey Galloway had not struck and left them with Chris Simms at QB.

Denver nearly got punked by Washington in their own house (they were lucky) and were beated by the upstart Giants. KC was SPANKED by Philly and also barely beat Washington. The AFC West vs. the NFC East has been fantastic, and is what the NFL is all about.

There's your AFC power-elite, beating the NFC and also getting beaten, so where's the overrating?

Speaking of NFC vs. AFC, saw an interesting stat on ESPN that 9 out of the top 10 receivers in NFL (guess it was going by yards or receptions) were all in NFC. Only Chad Johnson stood out in the AFC. Wow! That's a crazy stat. Maybe the NFC is starting to regain its dominance.

I have to give props to the NY Giants. They were a coin toss away from beating us, and the fact that they're 6-2 spells alot.

They've done their job and beaten the teams they were supposed to. I wish I could say the same about us ... Washington and Oakland.

But let's see how things spell out in the 2nd half of the season. We still have a full slate of games to contend with. We don't need to worry about the Giants until after Thanksgiving.

Philly is ripe to be crushed. Detroit is another cellar dweller. Beat Denver, and we're for real!!!

Maybe, but they are 6-2 sitting atop the NFC East. If Jacobs had not fumbled at the one yard line they would have beaten us in Dallas. They are a good solid football team. They have a very good coach who learned under Parcells. They have a good young QB who is still learning and is avoiding the mistakes of the inexperienced.

Many continue to diss the Skins. They beat us in Dallas and they beat the Eagles and now have the same record as we do. The Skins and the Gints are solid football teams. One of our (fans) big mistakes is taking teams too lightly especially in our own division.

We can say we shoulda, coulda, but Parcells himself said that you are what you are. What we are at this point is a 5-3 team and the Skins is a 5-3 team and the Gints are a 6-2 team.

I know the Eagles are in disarray at this time. However, I think Reid and TO will sit down this week and work things out so they can finish the season.
McNabb was quoted last night as saying that he needed TO and that TO needed him. If they can bring even a truce to the fighting and then concentrate on winning ball games, you will see a resurgence of the Eagles the last part of the season.

There isn't one pushover in our division. We better go into every game with a do or die attitude and play for 60 minutes. I think we have the best talent but we also have holes that can be exploited and we have more inexperience than any of the other three teams.

It is hard to beat the Eagles in Philly - always. Eli is average on the road but he is outstanding at home so the Skins will be tough in Washington. The same thing with the Giants. If we can win these three games then we will win the division. Because the only really tough games left are Denver and Carolina on our schedule. If we go 6-2 this last half then we are in great shape. I, too, think we might have to win our division to make the playoffs.

I think the Giants are good, but inconsistant. They are a team on the rise. I think they are behind the Cowboys at this point in terms of overall talent but have a lot of upside. The trouble for them is their inconsistancy can cause them to lose games they should win. You cant overlook them, because they are right there with us record-wise.

Umm... no.

The fumble led to the Cowboys having the ball on the 1 yard line, 26 seconds being run off, and the Giants getting the ball right back at the 48 yard line. They eventually scored on that drive. The Cowboys got the ball and took a knee. If NY scored on that play, instead of fumbling, Dallas would have had 1:18 and 2 timeouts to drive down and get a field goal.

If anything, the Jacobs fumble prevented a win in regulation and caused a Crayton injury.

I'm not sure how any of those facts suggest that the Giants would have beaten Dallas. They had a better chance of stopping Dallas in overtime and scoring.
