Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we still have one roster spot open? And can't we sign Cundiff back after the Eagles game? I've never been much of a
Cundiff fan but a somewhat consistant kicker with a little experience sounds better than Suisham at this point.

As a coach, having a good running game, good (could in the near future be great) defense, and a passing game that has alot of potential but still has the training wheels b/c of the tackle situation..IMO I would like more experience/consistancy at the kicker position and I feel Cundiff if healthy could be that kicker. Sorry for the drunken rambling and take it easy b/c it is my first post. I love the site and have been reading it for years, this year I finally see enough potential to warrant my first post

I think if hes still available (which is up in the air, as hes worked out for teams), we'll bring him back. If hes fully healthy that is.

Cundiff's return would likely be associated with Suisham's release if we decide to go that route. We will not keep two kickers on the active roster at once.

I think we can sign him after next week if we want to.

We aren't cutting Suisham's. Parcells likes him and will keep him around untill he screws up.

He said in his press confrence we could have a young kicker and long snapper around here for a long time.

I've been meaning to ask Adam exactly when we can sign Billy back. :)

i was going to say that, you beat me to it, lol. Squishy hasnt messed up yet.!.! Theres no reason to let a guy go if he hasnt messed up. As far as you saying "potentially great defense"........a top 10 defense is more than good

But what has he done - hit a couple of chip shots and had some short KOs. He hasn't been asked to make a FG of significance or of any difficulty yet. He is a giant unknown on a team that could be in the playoffs and that plays a lot of close games (6 out of 8 so far).

Thats all well and good, but he hasnt missed yet, and according to BP, he's had some really good practices ever since he got here, I'm just saying give the kid a chance.....Billy aint the best kicker by far, he'll do, he doesnt suck, but what if Squishy is better? We wont know if we dont give him a chance, thas all I'm saying.......never been much of a Cundiff fan, can ya tell? lol

Practice doesn't mean much when it comes to the kicker slot. I just need to see the kid make some big kicks (either in terms of difficulty or significance) before I will have any confidence in him.

You are right in that Cundiff is no world beater. However, he was a decent kicker who make some big kicks in the past.

Upgradeing this position should be a priority in the offseason. There may be some good kickers available - Vinatieri, Rackers, Vanderjagt.

Adam and MV arent going anywhere, Rackers maybe, but to me, a big kick for us right now is every FG attempt we take. Because every FG he makes is a boos to his confidence which one of the most dangerous weapons for a kicker, hope you agree....I just want the kid to have a chance, he's done everything right so far, small as it may be, he hasnt missed!! As long as he makes his kicks, I say keep him, and so far, he's done that!

Suisham made 2 21 yard FG's. Much the same as extra points. The good news is that he made them. Although they showed him missing longer FG attempts during the warmups with BP glaring behind him.

The bad, his KO's we short. I saw some at the 8, 12 and I think 14 yard line. BP hates to give up feild position so he will have to improve in that area to stick around.

Well we'll see what Suisham is made of Monday night in a tough enviroment in what's surely to be a close game. It would be a shame to lose another division game bacause our kicker fails to convert easy FGs.

I was listening to Mickey and Bill the other day.. Apparently Mickey made mention of the kicker from Colorado when he was playing against Missouri.. Mason Crosby. Thats next years draft though. Mickey did say that one of the Cowboy scouts was also in attendance.

McBriar must have a buddy from Australia who can kick FGs as well as McBriar can punt.

:D

Good idea, there has to be an Aussie rules player who can dropkick one in from 65...

Hey, it could happen. We saw an NFL quick kick just last week! Wonder when the last one of those happened?

Not trying to get TOO off topic here. But I thought I once heard of a rule where if you fair catch a kickoff (Maybe punt ?), you are allowed a free kick for a field goal with no defense to block it ?

The drop kick thingy made me think of it. Am I crazy or has anyone heard of that rule before ? Maybe an interation of the rule ?

That's true. If you fair catch, you get a free kick with the defense ten yards off the ball. I remember Landry doing that in one of his last years, and even the announcers didn't know what was going on. They had to look up the rule to figure it out, because they'd never seen it. :)

If Cundiff is still available...he will be signed Monday night after the game...I'd rather hold my breath with Cundiff, then this Sushi kid. Put him on the PS...

Next year we need to pay Rackers some $$$...we are a legit playoff team for years and we need a consistant kicker that can win games if needed. Right now Rackers is the best option this off-season.

I think Vinatieri and Vanderjagt are supposed to be FAs - don't know if they will be franchised.

agreed, and it is next week.

i would not at all be surprised if we get him back.

I'll take any of them...but what I like about Rackers is he's still young and has a ton of range. He put his kick off's in the endzone and his FG range and accuracy has been awesome. Let's get a guy in his prime to stay with us during the next few years.

Not possible now. Rackers signed an extension
