I was driving home from work listening to the Irv and Joe show on AM 950 the FAN here in Denver, and they had Tatum Bell on for an interview.

They asked him about the game last week in KC and the question was posed, have you ever played in a louder place?

To my jaw dropping surprise Tatum Bell said, "yhea Dallas".

Both announcers where stunned, and said, "really".

Tatum said, "yhea it was as loud as could be in there on Thanksgiving".

I dont know what to think?

Tatum is on Drugs? Tatum is just giving support to his home area? Tatum has a hearing problem? Tatum is telling the truth?

Regardless that was the last thing I would have ever expected.

it can get pretty damn loud in texas stadium.
i've never been to a game in person but in the early 90's when we put things back together .......wow, it got loud.

when roy forced that fumble on thursday, it got pretty damn loud!

when kmart caught that td against the eagles back in 92 to signal to the eagles there was a new sheriff in town.........it got pretty damn loud!!

i'm gonna go out on a limb and say it is going to get really, really loud in irving, tx. and my living room come sunday 3:15 p.m.

The Eagles' stadium seems to be far worse though-the Iggles have never had a good run D. However-they manage to STUFF the likes of LT and Ahman Green in their back yard.

I dont know i have not been to either Arrowhead or Tx Stadium. If I go by tv impression, its way louder in KC. Fans there go wild! Texas Stadium I really dont hear them as much. (on tv)

although TV and ''LIVE'' is way way diff.

i believe theres an audio problem in texas stadium, the stadium is much louder in person than it is on tv, i think it has something to do with the design of the stadium, on tv it doesnt appear nearly as loud as it is in real life, cbs could also broadcast stand noise more than fox as well, i have noticed that crowd noise on cbs games is much louder than fox ones

Been to a couple louder ontes at Texas Stadium. Monday nighter this year vs. Skins, and last year vs. Philly. Neither came close to my visit to Arrowhead.

I have season tix, and it is a mixed bag. Yes, it was loud as hell T'giving. As it was vs. the 'skins, NYG, and Eagles. It was sort of "meh" vs. AZ and Det - as to be expected.

Speaking from experience......if it is a big game and the crowd is fired up.......Texas Stadium is as loud as any...........but, most of the time it is quieter then other places.....our fans are spoiled from winning all those Super Bowls.

I kind of wonder that as well. I remember earlier this year I had to go out of town on Sunday and had to listen to the game on KLUV, the local Dallas FM station that's very clear. We had the other team backed up near their goal line, and it was REALLY loud. Right then I wondered if the TV audio just didn't pick up the crowd noise as well for some reason.

But one other thing for those who like to criticise our fans... Texas Stadium holds about 65,000 people. Arrowhead holds almost 80,000. Wouldn't 15,000 extra fans naturally be louder? ;)

thank you MR. Tatum Bell

i have listened to "the Texas Stadium crowd is too quiet crap" all year.

maybe on TV it sounds quiet. but at the stadium its usually loud.

as posted earlier the az and det games were kind of spotty at best,

but some games just dont ever seem to flow. those 2 didnt.

so the next time a thread gets started (by someone who has never

been to Texas Stadium ) about "why isnt our crowd louder " i will

just link them to Mr. Bells comment. thanks for posting this

Maybe that Dallas was louder than KC?? He'd know for sure, he played there 2 weeks ago. Besides, it sounded pretty loud from where I was sitting.........in my living room, so I know it was loud in the stadium, especially on the field!

Man, I wish I could go to a game and join in on the intensity. I can't comment on the stadium noise, but the surround sound on my T.V. was on maximum. YEA, BABY!
BTW, has anyone seen my wife and kids........

i wonder if him being on the sidelines and not totally focused on the game had anything to do with it?

After Sunday I would imagine both KC players and fans will know the answer. Seems like Texas would be more acoustically favorable, where Arrowhead seats probably 12,000-14,000 more fans?

a 60.000 fan stadium, compared to a 80.000 I'd say is a lil bit more louder, just because those extra 15.000 - 20.000 make a diff.

Exactly!! I've been a season ticket holder for 3 years and it gets crazy loud in there all the time. Most of these threads are started by people that have never been to the game live and just like to gripe about everything. Do any of you ever listen to the players after the game?? I can't count how many times I've come home from the games and heard a radio interview or seen a tv interview and some of our players make statements about the crowd really helping out today!! I've also heard other teams players before comment about it, not just Tatum Bell!!

I think there is something to this.

The one Cowboy game I was at was when Emmitt broke the All Time leading Rusher record.

It was loud as heck in there, very loud.

I recorded the game as well, and when I got home at watched it, the crowd did not sound loud at all.

Let's see, Denver loses in KC and wins in Dallas.... can we say "bitter"?

I've been to both stadiums, multiple times, and Arrowhead is much much louder. They're not even in the same league.

Hey all, Chiefs fan here. I was planning on just lurking, but figured I'd weigh in on this subject since I'm probably one of the few people that attended both the Denver @ Dallas game, and the Denver @ KC game.

Let me start by saying I was impressed with how loud Dallas was. I attended a game a few years back and the place was like a library. This year was different. The crowd was really into it, and the people that run the audio/video do a good job of cranking out the sound and getting the crowd hyped.

In my estimation, it was pretty close between the two games. Of course I'm using nothing other than my untrained ear and my experience of attending a lot of different stadiums.

Texas stadium cranks the audio at a high volume, and pushes the limit on when they are required to cut it off by the NFL. That combined with the fans, and the semi enclosed stadium goes a long way in making things noisy.

Arrowhead, while it may have had an extra 15K people, also is an open stadium. Combine that with the fact that it was about 9 degrees that evening, and everyone was wearing gloves, and the home of the Chiefs was clearly not at it's loudest.

So I'd say it's possible for those particular games, that Texas stadium was louder. I'll also say when Arrowhead really gets rocking, Texas stadium doesn't come close. Unfortunately our defense has a tendency to steal our wind with their poor play of the last few years.

One more thing to note. Cowboys fans like to get loud when their own team is on offense. The jumbotron are asking people to keep it down, but a lot of people aren't getting it. You guys need to remember that when your O is on the field, a quiet stadium makes it easier for your QB to audiblize and your linemen to hear the snap count.

It was very loud for the Eagles/Dallas game earlier in the year too. I attend several games a year and it shocked me how much louded it was this year compaired to the last several! I think it boils down to the fan base actually believing that the Cowboys are worth a damn and can actually win for a change! Whatever it is, I'm glad that it getting to the point where visit teams are going to have to consider the noise a factor during the game. WHOO HOOO!!!
