A guy that can develop a QB and is a great offensive mind.
Keep 'Mad' Mike Zimmer as the D-cord.

We really don't know how GOOD he is as a head coach.
Frankly-his success at Notre Dame so far has become over-blown. Ty Willingham actually had more success in his first year there, but noone seems to be talking about it.
Jimmy Johnson will be the next Cowboys coach.
Have you noticed the love he's giving the Cowboys this year? He and Jerry have made up... Jimmy will be back. He's a football coach, and he will miss it just like they all do. What better team to return to? He's just waiting for Parcells to retire now, IMO.

He may, to coach DA BOYZ is special. He would get twice as much attention as he does with the Irish.

He has a 1.5M buy out clause in his contract...peanuts.
To quote Weis as best as I remember during his introductory press conference with the Irish, "When you come to Notre Dame, you don't come to use it as a stepping stone. You come to retire there."
You don't leave in 2-3 years after uttering words like that to the boosters.

C'mon man, "loot" and a chance to coach AMERICA'S TEAM could change his mind quick, fast, and in a hurry....

I hate these threads.
We're on the verge of being a true playoff competitor and somebody's talking about 2007.

Caught him on an espn interview, org. started on Quinn not being even invited to Heisman............any way, Weis stated he is staying at ND until his son grad's from there in 10 years................then he said he has a daughter w/ special needs that will take his time..............

How about 2009. Parcells is going to resign an extension until then. That gives Weis enough time to refurbish the program at ND. Jerry would be willing to buy out ND for Weis especially when Parcells agrees to stay on as special consultant to Weis.
Ever notice how Weis always mentions Parcells before Belichick in interviews when he is talking about coaching styles, philosophies and influences.
For Pete's sake, he looks like Bill Parcells Jr. with the hair, the face and the walk.
If this happens the Cowboys will have been in good hands for a good 10 years and we as fans should not complain about Jerry Jones.

Weis just signed a 10 year deal that is worth 30-40 million. It also has a LARGE buyout.
So for the morons that started this thread, get current.
Also- I am a ND fan and the first 8 games with Willingham every break went our way.
The offense was a joke and the D was playing way over its head and made some big plays. Arnaz Battle won two games on absolutely crazy plays. Later against USC and Oregon State the truth was shown- and from that point on Willingham was a joke.
He could not recruit steadily, he picked a lousy staff, and had no feel for offense.
Look at Washington this year. Charlie is 10 times the HC that Willingham will ever be- and even the Willingham apologists are starting to admit it.

Next coach might be Johnson...or Mike Holmgren. Word has it JJ and Mike have struck up a real relationship as part of ongoing activities on the Competition Committee. Seattle is a good gig but I think most would admit that Dallas is more "big time."

Bill will be here in 2006 and 2007, so why worry about who the next coach is until then?.

You my friend are high. Weiss is 10x the coach Ty was and is also 10x the recruiter Ty was. Ty is overated...an NO not because he is black, he just is. Did you Weiss aced his SAT's, yes, I mean a perfect score!
i would love to have him here, but my thinking is why leave a perfect job for snot nosed NFL punks?

Anyone invited to the Heisman other than Reggie Bush is a waste of air fare.

ND>Cowboys
Sorry. It had to be said.
Give it up people. He has a 10 year contract he wants to see his son graduate from ND(he's still in HS).
Not to mention he would rather coach the Giants then the Cowboys. Find someone else to fantasize about.

Yeah, okay. He'd rather coach the Giants than the marquee franchise in the NFL. Makes sense to me.
He's not leaving ND, but no one would rather coach the Giants than the Cowboys, not even Mr. Giant Bill Parcells.
At least use some common sense.....

Common sense...that's laughable. Common sense tells me not everyone thinks the Cowboys are better then everyone else and someone out there might actually like other teams more...like the team his first NFL coaching gig was at. Which might also explain the stipulations he had in his original contract that said he could leave to coach the Giants without a buyout if the oppurtunity arrised.

Please, that contract is not worth the money it is written on. If Jerry wants him he will get him. 1.5 mil buyout is peanuts for Jerry.

Wies is not just some pro guy that took a college gig to get his foot in the door. He went to school there and it's his alma mater. We may be underestimating his loyalty and committment to ND. He may actually be there for awhile. Afterall, he has won 3 superbowl rings. He may not have been the head coach but that offense is his.

As much as I love Parcells, Jimmy Johnson would be AWESOME. And plus his other former assistants(Davis, Campo, Norv, etc) will likely be available too! :)

I DISAGREE. I love Ty and respect him mucho but no way did his team have the same success this year's team has. This year's team is tons better than that team. This year's team had one of the toughest schedules in the country and outplayed the (about to be 3x) national champion trojans and would've won had it not been for a bad spot and illegal push.
Ty's team started great and faltered down the stretch...against some not that good teams.
We already know that Weiss can coach an SB offense. What more do you want? I can deal with Zimmer's defense. Sounds like a pretty good combo to me. While we're at it, I'd hate to separate them so I'll take Brady Quinn in 2007 also.
For the record, I'm not calling for BP to leave or anything, just saying that I would welcome Weiss if BP did leave.

You can think it's laughable all you want. I'll present 8 Super Bowl appearances and the title of America's Team as my evidence. The Giants have won two, and the guy that coached both wins would rather be in Dallas.
Why don't you tell me why Parcells isn't coaching the Giants.... because he didn't want to that's why and I'm sure the opportunity would "arrise" if he wanted it.
You think the Giants wouldn't jump at the opportunity to have Parcells return?
You're right, there are some people out there that might actually like other teams more than the Cowboys, but the ones that would rather coach the Giants than the Cowboys are few and far between.
If Mr. Giant Bill Parcells wouldn't, then who would? Tom Coughlin would leave the Giants tomorrow if he had a chance to be the coach of America's team.

FWIW-Parcells first saw interest in the Cowboys when he saw a distraught Jerry Jones in that Dec Cowboys/Giants game(where the Boys were getting their tails whipped)-he turned to his colleagues and said "I can work with him".
And FWIW too-Parcells went through a messy divorce a year prior. Maybe he needed some big bucks?
