First, I would have taken Steven Jackson and never looked back. I haven't watched much college football, but it wouldn't have thought much about that pick. Although, I must admit the Bills extra first could prove to be huge in the future. That pick could be 25 or it could be number 8. Where ever it is it gives us options. Not bad at all.

Even with the trade, I would have taken different players at each spot. One thing that does comforts me is this.....rb and OL are the two positions I am most confident Bill can find his type of players. I didn't like the Al Johnson pick last year either. I was like "who the heck is Al Johnson...that Maryland linebacker fell into our laps and we took Big Al?" Now Al may turn out to be a terrible pick because of injury. Although it didn't take Al long to jump into the starting lineup during training camp. Bill brought in consultants such as Ron Wolf last year and it was quoted that they all loved Big Al. Last year, Billl liked Dominic Davis and Pinner. Tried to trade for Rudi Johnson and Kevan Barlow. Any of those moves would have been ideal. Bill knows these two positions. Who knows how these picks will play and who cares about these day after draft grades. If it makes you feel better put Henson as our first round pick who Rob Rang had as the 16th rated player in this draft before we got him.

It looks like we got 2 starting OL and at least a pt HB plus a future first. Certainly the picks don't look sexy----i doubt any of them ever make the pro bowl --- but they should fill holes. These are the types of players I expected Dallas to start drafting once Bill Parcells signed on. No one flashy. We are going to win with coaching.

With that in mind, I am pretty content with day 1, although I'd have rather we drafted 3 OL.

Can you imagine the screaming and howling if we had taken NO RB yesterday?

I don't know if it would be worse than what we have today. I think 3 OL would have been more accepted by cowboys fans in a BP draft. A lot of people, myself being one, are just not sold on Julius Jones. 3 OL would give us insurance in case:

LA flakes out or is injured
Gurode sucks again
one of the two rookies can't start

Frankly, I am in no way convinced that spending a #2 on Julius Jones was better than trading a #3 to chicago for Anthony Thomas or signing Dominic Rhodes.

Next year though, seems to have top prospects at every postion. Andrew Walter at QB, Braylon Edwards and Fred Gibson at WR, Mike Munoz at OT, and Marcus Spears at DE. If that pick is top 15 or so we got the better of the deal. As long as we draft an athletic CB and a WR I will be happy with this years draft. Greg Brooks and Drew Carter here we come.

Al Johnson will be a great center for us. He is coming back better than ever. It was a great pick and will pay off big time for us.

The pick we get from Buffalo will be a top 15 pick or better. Maybe a top 10 pick. It will be killer for us next year. We are still rebuilding. That is why we made the deal. We got great value from the #22 pick this year. We got the back we wanted plus the pick next year. Brilliant! :D

Concerning Al, you can't predict injury. So blaming Parcells for that is a joke. We need OL help. Who know, w/ a better line THam may be a 1100 yard back. I think JJ is a solid pick. Knowone knows. However, was Steven Jackson such a standout? Apparently not to most teams. So why not trade the pick away and see what happens with Buffalo's number one next year. Having another teams number one is great it means that you don't have to be bad to get a top pick. I will be watching Buffalo all next year rather closely. If we get a top ten than we struck gold. We can get that top DT or CB or whatever ailes us.
