Just wondering does anybody know how the Cowboys logo of "the star" came about? Who decided?

This just kind of popped into my head when I was thinking of other team logos.

I'm guessing because we're in the lone Star State.

Don't get me wrong, the star is the best logo and it represents everything good.

Anyway I was just wondering

Scalp the Skins!!!

I believe it represents the "Lone" star of Texas. In that Texas was an independant republic before joining the Union.

Better a star than a cartoon cowboy.

I always thought of it as a sheriff's badge, myself, but the Lone star reference makes more sense.

Wasn't Bum Bright the original owner, Him and Tex Schram started the whole kit and caboodel. One of them would be the culprit.

Uhhhh, no. Bum Bright didn't come along till a lot later.

Clint Murchison was the original owner...Please see his FBI file below.

I thought it was a Sherrif's badge, as worn by some Cowboys in Dallas long ago.

if I remember right,it was Tex Schramm. You would be correct. It was a combination of being the lone star state, badge, etc. The logo idea for the helmet was entirely Tex Schramm. As we all know it started out as a plain blue star on a white helmet. From there it grew into the star of today, again commissioned by Schramm. The whole story of this is in the book "Cowboys Have Always Been My Heroes" by Peter Golenbock

If you want details of a lot of Cowboys history, this is your book. I highly recommend it.

Actually according to Tex it was Tom Landry wife who came up with the ideal of the single star on the helmet.

Because the star represents greatness and no matter what happens, even if a star dies out another will rise and shine again.

Thats how I look at it....

I kind of like the cartoon Cowboy. If I were to design a throwback uniform, I'd consider using it on the pants or sleeves of the jerseys.
