View Full Version : Wow, Joe Gibbs' BIG game record. Be afraid, very afraid Dallas fans.

NedK

Joe Gibbs has won 4 of 5 NFC championship games, and 3 of 4 Superbowls he has been in. That should be scary. Very scary.

At about 7:30p Eastern time on Sunday, when it's all over, and Dallas' playoff dreams have been extinguished for good, Dallas fans everywhere will have ahead of them something like the football fan's equivalent of a dark night of the soul.

They'll walk around the house muttering, scowling, being rude to the wife and kids, and when the dog comes close by they'll give it a ferocious kick!

Redskins fans meanwhile are full of joy to add to the holiday good cheer. Smiles on their faces, backslapping each other, high fives and shouts of "how about them Redskins" filling the air.

And Chuck Knoll had a great run in the 70's. What's your point?

Since Gibbs decided to leave pitt row to return to the skins his record has been almost identical to the 'ol ball coach Steve Spurrier himself in his tenure with the skins. My guess is after Washington is officially put out of their misery Sunday the specualtion on Gibbs future in DC will begin in full. My guess is he'll be exchanging one pitt for another after the season.

The problem with your argument is your definition of a "big game." Gibbs has also... lost in the 1984 divisional playoffs to Chicago, didn't even qualify in 1985 (swept by the Boys might I add...) In 1986 they received a huge beatdown 3 times by the New York Giants (care to venture who the coach of the Giants was in that game?)
In 1988,in a big game, the Redskins fell to eventual AFC champ Cincinnati, knocking them from playoff contention. In 1989, again failed to qualify. Lost again, 1990 to San Francisco. Repeat in 1992.

Bill Parcells is 3-1 in Conference Championship games(with that lone loss being in Mile High Altitude), and 2-1 in Super Bowls he's been in(thanks to that fluke special teams play by Desmond Howard in the loss).

THIS should be very, very, very scary. :D

wait, is this the same Joe Gibbs who, according to several reports, has already decided to pack it in at the end of the year? The same Joe Gibbs who is pretty much getting all the credit for Gregg Williams' work this year? Yes, we should be very afraid of that guy.

jterrell
12-16-2005, 05:11 PM
Gibbs has been owned by PArcells but aside from that the Skins are barely a .500 team not exactly the same talent that won NFC championship or Super Bowl games.

The only number that matters is 7-6 which puits the redskins all of 1 game over .500 for this year with this talent.

Funny story I meant to tell you.

I think you know we got a pit bull pup not long ago...he still is a little guy.

But the wife's parents got this HUGE english bull dog...that thing has to be one of the stoutest, widest dogs I have ever seen...not tall but english bull dogs are not but that thing is built like a sherman tank.

Anyways we took our pup up to her parents house to visit with their bull dog.

Dobby Doomsday bit the dog and scared him away....which is funny because it looked like a rat attacking a lion hahaha.

Very true. We win 2 or the next 3, we are most probably in. The crapskins have to win out.

And while it is a great "rivalry," 'skins fans hate Dallas much more than Cowboys fans hate Washington.

Nope, that can't be, Gibbs hasn't been in the playoffs in this century... which just goes to show you, it's generally not the coach, it's the players he has that determine wins and losses...

That's the kind of groupies you attract if you have press box passes to the Skins game, but are incredibly ugly (tell me he's not a ringer for the actor who played Benny on the old TV series "LA "Law"), and dumber than a box of rocks...

Well, one thing is for sure, and that is that I personally "believe" that Gibbs has a better imagination and prepares better game plans than does Parcells.

SAME thing with USC and Texas in the Rose Bowl. Pete Carroll is head and shoulders above Mack Brown in game plans and play-calling.

Does that mean that I'm resigning myself to a Cowboys' and Longhorn's loss. No, it doesn't. I believe that both games will be there for the taking by either team. It's just that (for this one game) I'd rather have Gibbs coaching the Cowboys, and Pete Carroll coaching the Longhorns.......

And....(since that ain't gonna happen).....I'll be rooting and screaming my guts out for Dallas and Texas.

My personal wish for the game against the Skins is for us to be losing the ENTIRE game, playing terrible football and then win the game on the LAST play on the worst officicating call ever.

Nahhhhhhhhh.... Let them feel the pain from the jump. :laugh2:

If that were the case, which I dont think it is... its not the game plan anyways, its the execution of a game plan where battles are won and lost

That's the kind of groupies you attract if you have press box passes to the Skins game, but are incredibly ugly (tell me he's not a ringer for the actor who played Benny on the old TV series "LA "Law"), :lmao2:
I've thought the exact same thing...

Of course, Benny could spot him about 30 IQ points...

Or more...

Also, if you look in the background, you'll see some wiseguy put a pair of black pants and a red shirt on my Ford f-350.

How'd they do that?

Yeah, that's pretty amazing. Actually, I thought that was a Ford Excursion. I didn't notice the extra long full ton bed rear end on it.
