John Clayton just said on ESPN 103.3 that Bledsoe and Witten SHOULD have been in the probowl.
Said Bledsoe should have been in over Dellhome AND Vick..
In my opinion Bledsoe and Newman were ROBBED....

Hopefully Bledsoe takes it personally and shows the Panthers what a real Pro Bowl quarterback looks like.

Agreed about all three actually. Newman especially. As much as I don't like Bledsoe's play recently, he definetly deserves the pro-bowl spot more than the Jake Delhomme and especially Vick. Vick going to pro-bowl is a complete joke.
Its no secret, as to why AFC is currently superior to NFC. Its the QB play, PERIOD.

NEwman has been a sutd. He probably leads all CB's in least catches, yards, and TD's given up.
But Vasher and Hall has the sexy ESPN run backs
Barber I dont mind
Some people cant let go of their negative opnion of Drew.
The running of Vick got him in.
And the media loves Delhommme

Picks are over rated, how many did Deion have?
Newman has been locking down everyone he plays

Wow....it must be true then. And all this while, I thought it was because Crumpler and Shockey were not only better than Witten, but also beat all his stats big time....but if Clayton said it....

Newman's only shot at making a pro bowl is if he runs a punt back for a TD in his limited duty there. It really has nothing to do with his play as a corner.
Vasher made the team based on a missed field goal return and Hall on some punt returns. Both were torched repeatedly this season, especially Hall. In his game against the Eagles the announcers were on his jock like he was the second coming despite Owens abusing him for around 100 yds and a TD (IIRC).
People always talk about Deion Sanders shutting down one side of the field but I doubt that he ever gave up as few catches or yards as Newman has this season. I wish I could get tape of Sanders' "prime" years so I could get the numbers.

ON Deon, you'd be wrong...Newman on his best day cannot wear Deon's jock.
As for Vasher, I think you're making that up...looking at the Chicago defense, you'd do better to say his great play is attributable to a great supporting cast...no way was he torched often at all...they are the best defense in the NFL with an offense that hardly ever scores...how do you think they won all those games? NO one was getting torched in their secondary.

Crumpler has about 95 yards more than Whitten, 3 less catches and same TDs. I guess that is beating his stats big time then.....
Shockey, definetly is better though this year than Whitten. But of course, his QB looks for him every time he is trouble, instead of looking for a WR deep ..

Geez...
Every year somebody gets screwed over, it is not just players on the Cowboys roster. Really, there is no need to put a player down just because he got in over another guy.
Because personally, I would take Deangelo Hall and Jeremy Shockey and any other Pro Bowler who made the roster but somehow didnt deserve.

I never said Newman was better than Sanders. I said I doubt that Sanders ever gave up fewer catches or yards over one season. There is a difference and I found someone that will be able to get me Sanders statistics so I should be able to prove/disprove that statement shortly.

every team is pissed over players not making it.
I think Chris Samuels didn't deserve to go. But Randy Thomas, Chris Cooley, Sean Taylor and Marcus Washington did.
Vick shouldn't go

Sean Taylor? For what?
Washington you have a case for.
Cooley - He gets screwed by the system, he is neither full back or TE. The FB they take to the probowl is more your prototypical blockin fullback which Strong is one of the best. He can't compete with the TE's either. Maybe he gets a coaches choice pock that I wouldnt' mind.
Randy Thomas - Can't comment on.

It's been months since he's had any legal trouble, shouldn't he get some sort of credit for that?

Honestly-I don't see anything different between Bledsoe, Delhomme, and J. Plummer for that matter.
Having seen Jake D play alot, he has lot of the same weaknesses Drew has-holding onto the ball too long, being a sitting duck, etc. And both of their decision makings are about the same.

LOL redux. this has to be the post of the day.

Exactly. Clayton gets routinely made fun of around here....except when its what people want to hear.
Witten did not get screwed. Shockey and Crumpler are both good TEs who are having good years. He is a first alternate which is where he should be.

Yeah, I was going to Clayton is often criticized, so it is rare to see people quoting him.

If any Quarterback got screwed in the NFC, it's Mark Brunell. Brunell is having a better year than Bledsoe and Vick.

Wittens numbers are not as good as Shockeys and almost identical to Crumplers.

Except for that ~ 100 more yards that Crumpler has receiving, I'd agree.

Well Bledsoe is certainly more deserving that Vick.
I saw on FSN Pro Football preview that somebody asked Tim Brown if players took the voting serious. He said they didn't. He said the players were asked to vote after practice when most of them were wore out and just wanted to get home. That, coupled with the homerism that we know the fan vote is riddled with, is how somebody like Vick gets in over the more deserving guys like Bledsoe or even Brunell. Both those guys had a better year.

Delhomme and Bledsoe have about the same stats. Delhomme's team is 2 games ahead of Bledsoe's so he is going. However you have to believe Carolina had a better team than Dallas so that could be a factor. In fact, having the same rating on a lesser team may mean a better QB not a worse QB. Drew was borderline All-Pro, but that's not bad considering his reputation as Buffalo Bledsoe.
