View Full Version : This is why the Cowboys should sign Adam Vinatieri next year

I was watching a special about the Patriots first Super Bowl win and Adam Vinatieri was interviewed about his game winning field goal as the seconds ticked off. He told the interviewer that as the Pats were driving down the field, he looked at the ball boy and told him, "Get your butt down that field and catch this thing, because when I win this game for us, I want to keep the ball forever."

I don't think many of our regular players have that kind of confidence, much less the kicker!

Can you imagine Billy Cundiff talking to someone like that? :lmao:

Cundiff probably wore out his rosary.

Where did you see he was interested in leaving the Pats and coming to the Boys?

lord, now i'm not sure who's who this am.

the pats kicker resigned - he's no longer available.
indys kicker is a UFA and we should look hard at signing him.

Billie Cundiff had all the physical qualifications for a great kicker, he was just so insecure he flinched when he needed to be steady and deliver the goods. His self-confidence was utterly lacking. The leg can only do what the mind tells it to. It is the mind that needs training and discipline. A person who does not naturally have self-confidence should not be a kicker in the NFL and is not likely to have much of a career.

The original intent in bringing in the kicking coach was so they could get by with a cheaper kicker and put the cap dollars into other players - they weren't looking for a highly paid, highly skilled pro. Personally, I would prefer a kicker like AV with more confidence and a more assertive attitude and enough of a leg to get the kickoffs to the endzone.

If winning comes down to the kicking game, better have a good one, whether you think they're a bunch of wimps or not; better respect them or the good ones will go where they are better paid and respected. Why let the success of your entire team rest on shoddy underpinnings?

Right! ANY kicker who needs a special coach there to hold his hand and stroke his ego isn't worth much IMO.

I suspect Cundiff will resurface somewhere else next year. Kickers have nine lives. Just ask Cortez.

Did he re-sign? Darn. I thought he was still had the franchise tag. I did a google search and couldn't find any news about them giving him a new contract.

Well, on to Mike Vanderjagt! ;)

He may be a "stupid kicker" as Peyton Manning calls him, but after this year, I'll gladly take a kicker who talks smack about his teammates choking.

Come on guys do u really think we are gonna give out money to a kicker? I mean look how many of our games have been decided by a FG? We will prolly end up draging timmy seder back out of class to have him be our kicker

Maybe Cundiff and the ball boy should trade places. We would be better off.

the problem has been shown to a HUGE degree.

yes, i think we'll address the kicker problem with indy's kicker if possible, or we just go through all this junk again.
