When Vermeil retires this offseason. I think in addition to putting more resources into the line we should try really hard to bring in Mike Solari. The only thing that might preclude that is if Al Saunders gets hired and he moves him to offensive coordinator or if he finds an O-Coordinator gig somewhere else. You can't argue with his results.
Mike Solari - offensive line; born January 16, 1955, Daly City, Calif. Offensive lineman San Diego State 1975-76. No pro playing experience. College coach: Mira Vista (Calif.) J.C. 1978, U.S. International 1979, Boise State 1980, Cincinnati 1981-82, Kansas 1983-85, Pittsburgh 1986, Alabama 1990-91. Pro coach: Dallas Cowboys 1987-88, Phoenix Cardinals 1989, San Francisco 49ers 1992-96, joined Chiefs in 1997.

That would be Parcells call. Bill controlls the staff and not even Jerry would try to force an assistant down Bill's through nor would I want to see Jerry do such a thing.

Say Parcells swears by Sparano and you owned the team.
I would think the results speak for themselves and if there is a decorated OL coach like Solari out there, you do what is necessary to get him on board.
I respect Coach Parcells a great deal, but he has run out of FoBs to coach for him and we need to get some talented coaches in here whether he "approves" or not, not just to help him but also have something in place for when he does step down.

Can he bring Willie Roaf with him? :D
Seriously, he'd be a great hire. But like you say, I'm not sure how it would all work out. And who knows what Parcells would think about him.
Actually, I have a bad feeling Sparano is going to be right back here next year.

Our past coaches had no control over who their assistances were and that did not work out very well. As a Head Coach you should be in charge of who is on your staff, if Jerry hires an assistant then who is that coach’s loyalty to? No head coach worth his salt would put up with someone else choosing his assistant coaches I don’t care who that assistant coach is. Your last statement then mean you fire Parcells and hire this other guy because that would be complete chicken for Jerry to force any coach on Bill

Great OL coach. I would be estatic if we got him one day.

So basically if Coach Parcells is overly loyal to a substandard coach, you simply sit back and let things go? That also would be idiotic.
There is a diplomatic way to do things and nobody is suggesting simply hiring him and telling Parcells to shove it. But Parcells does have to get over his complexes he has over getting his type of guy. Sparano has no business being our OL coach and is only there because we could not lure another FoB, Bill Muir away from Tampa Bay.
If Parcells wouldn't see Solari as an upgrade and respect his accomplishments, then perhaps I would think about the future of my franchise beyond Coach Parcells and strongly suggest (force, if you want) the issue.

If Bill went out and hired him great, I'm not suggesting that Solari is a bad coach but a HC must have complete control over his staff. Jerry hired Bill to be the Head Coach for good or bad now let him run the damn team that is what you hired him for. As far as his type of guys that is a bunch of fan non-sense talk Bill knows what he is doing and does not need Jerry Jones hiring assistance coaches.

I don't know about Solari, but I have wondered about Mike Tice if he's released from the Vikings. He made his name in the NFL as an OL coach and seems to be somewhat of a Parcells worshiper. Parcells has said some good things about him in the past.

Actually, the reason Sporano is there is because George Warhop was fired. At the time Warhop was hired, he was thought to be the best up-and-coming OL coach in the league. Parcells hired him on his reputation alone, despite not having any experience working with him and a pretty distinct difference in personalities.
That worked out wonderfully.

I've thought that myself, IR.

I think Parcells has to sit back and honestly evaluate himself as well as his assistants. Defensively he has done well, as well with some positions on offense EXCEPT the oline. He can't honestly feel good about what has been done there. The NFL rapidly changes and if it takes a new approach such as hiring a stud like Solari then so be it. The sweeps that KC runs are "state of the art". Part of it is the players but a whole lot of it is coaching as well. Can you imagine some of the runs Julius would have on sweeps like this with his moves in space. (cold shiver) I think results are what he is all about and it is much more probable that Solari could get the most out of Flo as well help with his eye for talent in personel such as Brian Waters and Casey Weigman, than Sparano.

I would be pretty shocked if the Chiefs don't promote Saunders. If they go with a defensive minded HC like Gregg Williams, I would be pretty shocked if he didn't do everything in his power to retain Saunders and his staff to run his offense for him.

I frequent alot of Chief message board and the rumors are that there is alot of infighting between Carl Peterson and Al Saunders. That's the reason for all of the Herm Edwards rumors. If Peterson is retained I think there is about a 50/50 shot for Al Saunders. If Peterson goes then they might go with a college coach like Ferenez, Carroll, Stoops or Bellotti.

Fox is reporting that Vermeil is out and Saunders is not a candidate to replace him... http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5195060
Would he stay and remain the OC for a different head coach? I don't know. I kind of doubt it.

Yup... that was the dumbest thing BP has done as a Boys HC... getting rid of Houck...

They had a special section on NFL Playbook last night mentioning how the exact same OL from Miami last year is flourishing under Houck.
Nice move, Mister Jones.

What is FoBs, Friends of Parcells?
Yep, still wondering why we never took a look at Gregg Williams or the OL coach for the Broncos who signed on with the Falcons.

Actually that was Jerry Jones in 2002. Got rid of Jack Reilly and Hudson Houck and brought in Bruce Coslet and Frank Verducci. Yet another popular misconception out there about Parcells. "Yeah...not only has he not developed a young QB, he's the one who got rid of Houck too. !"

Keep remembering all those great moves Jerry made before
Bill got to Dallas. We might not always agree with what Parcells
does, but he is what this team needs.
