This year has been highly disappointing for Cowboys fans, especially after
the outstanding start this year. Before the year began many questioned the
choice to go to the 3-4 this year with a coach who was unfamiliar
and a team with a weak linebacking corp. The move has produced mixed
results at best. The 3-4 has lacked the ingenuity of successful defenses like
the Skins, Pats and Chargers- all of which get pressure on the qb on a
regular while we struggle to get there- Our blitzes are vanilla and our schemes
p[redictable. Bad coaching. Additionally our inability to make adjustments
during game day has been amongst the worst in the league.
Prime example of this was the skins game in which our terrible tackles were
left on a island for the entire game even though they were getting man
handled by a mediocre skins dline.
Again I ask WHY WAS GLENN ON MOSS FOR EVEN 1 Play- that was horrible
coaching. Why isnt our 2nd rd pick Burnett on the field more he cannot be
worst than Fujita or Shanle- Ive watched Burnett play on those few plays
he has been in and he is quick, big and a playmaker- he must play more-
If this year has taught us anything its that the difference between
MEDIOCRE AND GOOD IS IN THE COACHING-just ask Pittsburgh, NE, INDY,
SD,KC,NYG,CINCY- good coaching = consistently good results
Even more than the play of the oline the coaching has been the most
disapointing.

Skins haven't had a good pass rush all year. They sucked at it until they played us 2 weeks ago.

Sometimes Inspiration can make you play much better. Skins' were definitely much more inspired than Dallas. (all round)

Give the D time to learn the basic system before throwing in all the bells and whistles.

We need more great players on defense and offense, that's all. You can't win with a bunch of scrubbs, even if you're Vince Lombardi.

Let take a look at this year.
1. New defense scheme
2. New QB
3. Several new rookies on the Defense
4. rookie starting at RT
5. Starting Pro LT gets hurt before the middle of the year.
6. 3 starting Defensive players get hurt 2nd half of the year.
7. Issues with kickers
8. Little to no running game all year.
This is just to name a few that come to mind.
If I gave you this list before the year started I don’t believe anyone would think that this team could make the playoffs
Overall, I’m disappointed with the year. I expected more, but I can’t blame all of this on coaching. What I can blame on coaching is starting the year with no veteran RT.

So, I guess we must have the greatest talent of all teams in NFL, as it managed to somehow squeak out 9, likely 10, with the worst staff in the league.

Here's another way to look at it....
It's one of the BEST coaching jobs by a guy that had no experience with the 3-4 defense ever. Zero experience and in his first year yielded a 11th ranked defense. We were actually ranked higher than that for most of the season.
If you want questionable coaching, I'd say that the coaching or rather FORESIGHT of the coaches for the o-line is more in question here.
When we acquired Drew Bledsoe, BP was saying over and over again that we needed to protect him...lack of foresight caused us to have a porous o-line for many games.
We could also talk about questionable play-calling at times during games....
Defense wasn't the weak link on this team....furthest thing from it.

9. Julius Jones out for part of the year.
10. Marco Rivera 75% at best all year.

Honestly, I think the Cowboys coaching has been exceptional. With the talent on our roster, another coach could would be lucky to win 7-8 games.
Parcells coaching has never been the issue with me. It's his personnel decisions and general managing that has disturbed me. He has done well with the draft but poorly in regards to free agency.
But I don't question his coaching. If we didn't use conservative max protect schemes, Bledsoe would be sacked more than he is now and many more turnovers would result. I still remember the Campo years in which holding and false start penalties were common. You don't see those silly penalties any longer with Dallas. Furthermore, you don't see a lot of face mask penalties or poor tackling that you did under Campo and Gailey. That is all due to the exceptional coaching Parcells and his staff have brought.
If you want to criticize Parcells, criticize him for his failure to add depth to this team which includes the offensive line. Criticize him for his inactivity in the 2004 offseason. Criticize him for his failure to develop a young quarterback and instead settling on QB's past their prime like Vinny Testaverde and Drew Bledsoe. Criticize him for bringing one of his former players like Richie Anderson and then playing him at tailback at times just to keep him in the lineup.
But in regards to his playcalling and game time decisions, I think he has done an exceptional job.

This isn't some hack message board. Don't bring this board down with cheap one-liner insults. I don't care that you think his opinion is wrong but at least take the effort to post your opinion intelligently and comprehensively. I have read your posts in the past and you write well.

I dont know about all that but our staff is one of the highest paid in the league.
Dallas Cowboys coaches were the league's highest paid, averaging $301,710, with 15 coaches reporting to the survey. The Bears averaged $186,407, with 17 coaches reporting. The Cowboys were 6-10; the Bears, 5-11.

Parcells inherited Zimmer although when Zimmer had an opportunity to go elsewhere, he was given a raise to remain with Parcells' blessing. Most of the people on his staff had not worked for him before; they were on the Patriots' staff. Basically he hired a staff from a pool of leftovers.
I'm not saying any of them are bad coaches, and if they are, Parcells hit it lucky. If they aren't, the better coaches were already employed. It has already been pointed out that the DC had to learn a new scheme. Some of the other guys were promoted from within. I am sure, not being able to get the coaches that were Parcells first choice has restricted him somewhat. Probably some of them are experiencing on the job training and will continue to develop.

Among the worst in the league? Have you looked at the standings lately... It might ruin your fantasy, but you might want to consider it.

Our inability to make adjustments
during game day has been amongst the worst in the league.
In the first 3 quarters we've been outscored 231-212.
In the 4th quarter, we've outscored our opponents 100-54.
What was that about an inability to make adjustments during a game?
Dehaven,Zimmer, payton, sporano= horrible. Mind you BP hired these bums! Okay if this helps to ease your love for BP! he did a great job in this draft i admit that, However when does this man get blamed for something.
Year #1 inherited a team in disarray
Year #2 witten, jj, crayton= good job, Peterman, Rogers, Stewart, coleman cooper so on and so on= horrible Stated he felt good about his team, team imploded and BP says i misjudged the players!
Year#3 Ware, spears,burnett,petite(young- give him a pass)henry GOOD job! rivera, johnson, no veteran backups at tackles, refusal to sign a proven free Safety,($5 million cap space) Horrible!
80's giants philosophy, conservative play calling, Love keys effort past his prime. Leaving us with no real threat outside of often hurt glenn Horrible. Not putting away teams that we dominate for 58 minutes because" you leave yourself open to mistakes when you open up the offense"
" you are what your record says you are!"(1 game over 500.)= PRICELESS!!!!!!!
