I can remember the excitement of that opening regular season game as though it were yesterday -- but for this Eagles fan it seems as though that were a hundred years ago.

Who knew that the NFCE top team would topple from the Superbowl down to the basement! Somehow the Eagles have always managed to stay in the media; whether one of our players were being shot, the contract controversies with Corey Simon, Westbrook, and the whole T.O. mess. Not to mention the Desperate Houswives stunt, or countless injuries. If I wasn't a God fearing Eagles fan, I' almost believe we were cursed this year.

Alright, we couldn't possibly salvage a decent season this year -- it's pretty much a bust -- so all we can do is look at our stable of rookies and next year with a healthy Westbrook, Pinkstons, Buckhaulter, and several others who have Been either Injured or shot.

Normally, a team with our standing would have already faded into the woodwork. But here we are, patched-up, with rookies, and 2nd string players to include a QB who is za nice guy, but certainly Not an answer to a backup QB for D-Nabb. Here we are, back in the limelight; and as usual, not in a positive way! You all know the script!

If the Eagles win the game against the Redskins, the Cowboys make it into the playoffs as a wildcard (or whatever) ..this, being the same team fans who will not be rooting for the Eagles to win, more than they will be just hoping that the Redskins lose (the Enemy of my Enemy is still not my friend concept).

On the other hand, if the Eagles lose against the Redskins, the Cowboys basically are out of the playoffs of any kind -- just like the Eagles.

Obviously no fan has control over the outcome of this NFCE-high profile game! Even if Andy Reid was a "rollover" (of which he is Notand he is not!)kind of headcoach, Jimmy Johnson (the Defensive Coach), is not! That means if we lose, we're not interested in being in the Cowboys "good favor" most of your fans have made it perfectly clear that you hate us regardless of whether we win or lose! But retrospectively, if we lose, we didn't do it for any other reason than the Skins played a better game than the Eagles On that particulr day.

where do I stand ...this may be surprising to some of you, but not all of you ...but I say we won't lay down...Good Hunting ...or Tally-Ho!

As much as I would expect from an Eagles fan=P

I'm thinking the way you are though. I'm rooting for the Skins to lose, not for the Eagles to win.

I was almost tempted to buy tickets and go up to the game with some of my friends who are unfortrunately Skins' fans. But I had plans on New Years, plus I'd hate to have to cheer for the Eagles O_o

How many picks do you guys have in next year's draft?

I hope the Eagles surprise me, but I'm putting my hopes on the Falcons.

Oh, the irony in these two games...

Both division games. Both home teams are already eliminated, but both have a chance to beat a divisional foe and knock them out of the playoffs.

If the Eagles lose, there's a chance they could be the only team in the NFC East to miss the playoffs.

I am praying for the Eagles to step up and beat the Skins since that is our best chance to get in and it would keep the Redskins out at the same time. Two stones with one bird.

I can't believe my eyes ...they're welling up as I read your sincere Eagles cheer! I wish there was a way the Eagles wouldn't let anyone down ...but perhaps that's even too late.

Win or lose, I'm standing by my team!

How many picks do you guys have in next year's draft?

Andy Reid has been busy working with Eagles GM on some strategy for the 2006 Draft ...

Eagles net two extra fourth-round draft picks in 2006 and take away a sixth-round draft pick next April.

The Eagles traded a fourth-round draft choice (132nd overall) and a sixth-round draft choice in 2006 to Dallas for a fifth-round draft choice (148th overall) and a fourth-round draft choice in 2006.

Finally, they traded a fifth-round draft choice (148th overall) to Indianapolis (Jonathan Welsh, defensive end, Wisconsin) for a fourth-round draft choice in 2006.

Still early.

It's much easier to root for the eagles w/o TO. Seriously. Count your blessings.

You're wrong, I'm rooting hard for the Eagles on Sunday. McNabb is out, Westbrook is out, TO isn't there, if not for the logos I could almost imagine they were a different team. :)

P-Talon -

Don't you get lonely being a literate Eagles fan? Of course you do, that's why you're here. Anyway, your posts are always welcome.

I would like for your boys to knock off the Redskins Sunday, but as banged up as your team is, I doubt your guys can pull it off. Good luck, though.

I have no doubt the Eagles will be tough to beat next year, but so is everyone else in the NFL East. The days of easy domination are over. Your front office is going to have it's hands full smoothing over player relations if they can. If Reid and company want to win, they're going to have to unwrap their white-knuckled fists from around some of that cap money.

Good luck, Sunday.

Go Eagles.

And that Desperate Housewives stunt...
that was last year.

I really think the Skins are gonna lose on Sunday. They have won like 4 or 5 games in a row and are playing better than they really are. It's bound to catch up to them.
On the flipside, the Eagles are 0-5 in the division and due for a win. It's in their stadium and nothing would set the tone better for the Eagles of next year than to knock a division opponent out of the playoffs in the final game of the season.

I predict a close game. Not a very high score.
Eagles win.
