Good Luck to him. He has his work cut out for him there. Who is our next OC?
Wish he would take Zimmer with him

if our offense takes off its bill and jerry's fault for not letting him go soon enough.

Good for him. I've said it before -- to accomplish what he has done with the crap O-line we had this year involved some very very good work. He'll be even better when he isn't calling plays with an eye toward pleasing BP.

If he drafts Leinart, he's got some weapons to work with. The Saints essentially have been unfortunate and under coached, but they are not without talent.

And who was the OC in 2004 with Vinny at helm? Or for that matter, who was the Passing Co-ordinator for Quincy when he threw those yards or who was QB coach for Quincy? So yeah, Think about it, he made Quincy throw for those yards

Meh, the guy was asked to run a time of possession based offense without an offensive line, and injured RB and an immobile QB. I think he did a decent job considering.
I would rather have lost Zimmer.

Deuce McAllister, Joe Horn, Dante Stallworth, they have a lot of weapons on offense for leinart. jamaal brown and lecharles bentley if he stays for the OL. I think he should be able to turn things around in NO a bit with Leinart. They have a lot of talent, maybe they need someone to just whip them into shape.

I don't question his ability to work with QB's...I think he's done a good job there, just think his playcalling SUX! And yes he is the one calling plays in the game...no matter what game plan was established.

That leaves them in position for either Leinart or Vince.... I think he could do well with either of those two if the Saints get some other players. Maybe Payton would try to get permission to talk with Zimmer? If we were still running the 4-3, then I think he's not a terrible coach(yes, I know there are some that want to get rid of him because of his bend don't break philosophy).. But the players weren't the only ones that were learning on the fly.. While there was improvement on the stat sheet from '04 to '05.. I'm not convinced he could further progress in the 3-4 from last year.

I'm with you 100% - Haley is not qualified to be an NFL OC. If he gets the gig I am very, very concerned.
What names are you hearing? After the obvious Henning(if not under contract) & Mike Sherman come to mind if not head coach.

The Saints have definitely underachieved lately. I would have thought a coach that stresses discipline would do well with that team. Payton doesn't strike me as that.

Now we know how bad it is to work for Parcells!
Payton is willing to take the Saints head coaching job just to get away from Parcells! :)
If Haley is picked, don't throw him under the bus before he is given a chance. Position coaches generally are moved up the ranks when coaches exit. Parcells thought enough of him to bring him back. Talk about underqualified, look who the Jets just hired. Until he is given the job and fails, lets give him a chance. At least we know he has fire.

I don't know if your joking, but there is some truth to that. BP never let Carthon call the plays which is why he left to Cleveland for the same job description. The only difference in Cleveland is that Crennel lets him call the offensive plays. It's a little different for Payton though, he was promoted.

Well I guess I should wish Payton well - never caused a problem here during his stay and put up some decent production despite a lack of quality OL play during his stay here as "passing game coordinator".
It'll be interesting to see who becomes the OC next year. I wonder if we can lure one of the top OL coaches by giving him the title - no club could block the move without giving him the new title.
My hopes are for Tice or Beightol for OL coach.

Congratulations to Sean. I think he's a good football coach, and I think the Saints will be better off for it. That's not that bad of a team that they have. With a little coaching and some good luck (and they are due for that), they can be right back in the thick of things again.
As for where the Cowboys go next, Todd Haley may not be a bad guy for the job. He's fiery, and I do think that Bill respects him.
I'm more interested in seeing what other coaches may go with Sean...

I will add my congrats to Payton as a lot of others have......I personnally think that Parcells will go outside for an OC. I am sure he has probably been looking around ever since Payton started being interviewed. Getting Henning and making him assistant HC would be a promotion and he would run a similar offense as we have now. David Lee will probably move up to QB coach. I would hate to lose Gibbs but I think we could use a new line coach if we lost Sparano. How about Linehan from Miami. On the other hand BP really likes Sparano and might make him the OC. I don't like the Haley idea but I guess we could do worse. I think BP has already picked his guy but will wait awhile before his announcement.

Howard was surpassed and suspended last year. They have a nucleus of young talent on Dline. But they have not really done much on the field.
