How would you guys feel if BP gave Jacob Rogers another shot. He is extremely talented but has had injury concerns. If the Cowboys keep him into training camp, maybe he can beat out Pettiti. If he doesn't then maybe he could make a good backup if he beats out Colombo and Tucker. Worse case scenario we cut him in preseason in the final cuts if he still sucks. I don't want to give up on him and have him turn out to be another Jimmy Smith.

I guess a better question would be do you guys think BP will give Rogers another shot?

I'm actually for it -- but I think that bridge is burned and that he's done here. Though he might develop later (doubtful), I think BP wants to make a clear point.

I have visions of him sustaining an "injury" during the course of the season right when we need him. I don't trust the guy. So far he's shown nothing of an NFL linemen's mentality or of a NFL player for that matter. He has no nads man, no nads. I agree with abersonc....he's disappointed everyone. All the way to the top.

I think giving Rogers another shot wouldn't be out of the question.
The real question is, does Rogers still have a strong desire to prove he can play in this league and would he want to prove it with this team?
I believe Parcells would give him every opportunity so long as Rogers shows him he has the dedication and drive to work hard during the off-season. Parcells has a lot to gain if Rogers "shows up" and becomes the "player" he thought he drafted.

He is soft! I know several people who have gone to the same re-hab facilty in Dallas that he is or was going to and they cannot believe what a pansy he is.

I am all for givin Rogers another shot. Maybe with a little luck his injury probs are finally over. If he can stay healthy he can be a very good OL. I think the only thing that will hold him back is his injuries. To bad.

It was not positive at all. I will not repeat all that was said as two of these people are relatives. Take it for what it's worth............

I take it that your relatives work there. Would be a good reason not to repeat what they said.

Its true. It just seems like a shame to give up on a 2nd round pick. I guess I'm still in denial about Rogers being a bust. Seems like a waste of talent.

yeah, it sucks big-time, but time to move on, a deep and very rich class for OTs in the draft this year, we won't regret the Jacob Roger's fiasco for too long IMO

Assumming Parcells takes a tackle. Don't be surpised if McNeil is there and he trades down and takes Manny Lawson the Ware Clone instead. BP had a history of going defense heavy in the draft despite offensive needs.

Not if Houston, Green Bay, and Detroit take the last ones in the 2nd.

btw, in a recent chat, Mel Kiper believes, at the moment, that Boise State OT Darryn Colledge will go in the 3rd round, he has excellent potential, just is light

I don't see BP giving him another shot here with that type of reputation and I would never trust him if he did get another shot here.

What did those players say? Maybe there is more to Jerry wanting to cut this guy then just dissappointement?

Maybe there is more to Jerry wanting to cut this guy then just dissappointement?Basically the same thing that has been said here; that he was soft, that he couldn't take the pain that is a fact of life in the NFL, that he was a whiner, etc. It seemed to be the consencious that he was not injured badly enough to come out of the game much less go for sergury that last time around. Parcells will not tolerate that kind of player IMO.

one of the ways to gain Parcells' respect and trust, is to play throught pain, and clearly Jacob ROgers hasn't shown that propensity, the reason BP won't take the trouble of bringing him back

I'd rather take Bobby Carpenter to play the other OLB spot..

I think we'll definitely give him another shot. After clearing waivers, we never came to an injury settlement so we could release him, did we? I believe he's still our property. There must be a reason for that.

I say give him a shot because we did invest a 2nd rd valuable pick in the guy!

I am not oppose to giving him another shot. What do they have to lose? He still has a chance to be a solid contributor to the team.

And it could have been avoided if Parcells hadn't overriden advice from scouting department. But it possible Parcells ignored their advice cause he had little trust in Lacewell. Doubt that happens again with Ireland in charge.
BTW re Rogers. Rogers showed in 05 offseason that he was a hard worker & Parcells very pleased with him; both Parcells & Riveria praised Rogers workouts, etc. Problem survived with his attitude in TC towards playing hurt. Bu do think Parcells pushes playing hurt a little too much; believe we lost Henry (who had no history of injuries) cause Parcells pushed him to come back soo son from groin injury which caused Henry to rehurt groin in practice & he didn't play rest of season. Groin & some knee/head injuries can't be played around with.
